We found Cosecha's by accident. We were looking for a place to drop in for breakfast. Cosechas popped up in our search. We were very lucky it popped up. Everything about Cosecha's is great. I'm not a Colombian food expert, so I can't say if it was traditional or not. But we really liked what we had!! We had a few empanadas as appetizers. They were really good. Nice crispy outside, and stuffed full on the inside. We could tell they were freshly handmade. They were clearly not frozen. The coffee is perfect. It had a robust coffee flavor. Not a bitter or burnt flavor, but a full coffee flavor, with a slight hint of cocoa. Staff is very friendly and attentive. They know all the dishes. I wasn't sure what to order. I told the waitress I was really hungry and asked what's popular. She suggested Calentado. It's a dish with eggs, rice & beans, meat, and cheese topped arepa. Meat choices are chicken, steak, ground beef, or chorizo. I tried the chicken. The waitress recommended scrambled eggs with onions and peppers. Our food came out very quickly. The plates of food were enormous. Each plate had enough food for two people. And everything was great! They have a large assortment of pastries and desserts up front. Unfortunately, I was too full to try any. They seem to be very popular in the neighborhood. While we ate, we noticed the staff joke around with people who popped in for coffee, sandwiches, or desserts. There are a lot of regulars. Tables, counters, and floors are clean. Take out refrigerators are stocked well. Popular music plays at proper levels. Loud enough that you can hear it, but not so loud that you can't hear each other. Delicious, satisfying and cheap! Best description for this place! We tried their delicious picada which had so many different flavors, there was chorizo, chicken, beef and amazing chicharrones! Que rico! We basically inhaled all the food lol. All the empanadas are great but we especially love the chorizo. You can't go wrong with the arepa and chorizo too. They have a big selection of empanadas and we (work peeps) typically order a bunch like 20 to 30 pieces on a weekly basis. This order, unfortunately, will be the last one unless they work on their customer service. First of all, when we order empanadas, we get different types. They charge 10 cents a bag to separate them. How are we going to know which one is which if they are all in one bag. Separating stuff from a big order is a standard on restaurants. I don't understand why this was such a big issue for them. Also, very stingy with the dipping sauce - they don;t even fill it all the way up. They have 3 different types of sauce and of course, we want a variety. They always give us a hard time whenever we asked for extra. We don't have a problem paying for the extra sauce but don't be rude to your customers. We'll never order from this place again and won't be recommending this place to anyone. read more

I wanted to try this new restaurant since I love Colombian food. I decided to order something simple to gauge the quality of the food. I ordered a large rice and beans. Nothing else. First of all, that cost me $14.20. Outrageous!!! Large rice & beans that costs $14.20?!?!? The beans had a rancid smell and taste. The next day I had diarrhea. I shouldn't have eaten them but I was hungry. I do not recommend this restaurant. Good thing I didn't try the seafood. On a positive note, the women working there are pleasant and beautiful. Went for first time and was very disappointed. Didn't have what i wanted to eat so order two carne asadas for party of two. We both left most of it because was so hard couldn't even eat it. To top it at the end when came time to pay with my credit card they asked me if wanted to include tip...I said yes and thought the waitress was going to ask me how much tip to put, but no...they went ahead and charged 20% right away! Came to Stamford and made a quick stop at this place because of the empanadas. First, they had a chair blocking the door, we had to ask if they were closed and the lady with a not so happy said yeah the kitchen is (it was 40 mins earlier than the closing time) but we said it's ok we just want to get empanadas. So disappointing, I went to this place with my father today. my father ordered steak and he only had a bite, it didn't have any flavor, smelled bad and was burned. The lady ( owner) was so rude, we could tell she didn't like that we let her know about this. I ordered beef milanesse, and it was also burned it almost looked like dark brown. I tried eating it but mint was almost impossible, so stiffed and also no flavor at all. I went to pay and she was gonna charge us for the streak, i kindly asked to take it off and we'd pay for the rest since my father just had a taste and she went crazy. New Colombian spot. Had the calentado for breakfast. Portions were huge. The steak was pretty good but I wasn't too crazy about the eggs or rice and beans. The cheese on the arepa was not authentic Colombian cheese which was disappointing. It tasted like melted mozzarella cheese. I'm part Colombian and overall the food didn't have the taste I'm used to. Reminds me of home (motherland & my mom's in a very heavily Colombian-populated town in NJ). Their beans for the bandeja paisa remind me of my mom's cooking, no Goya bs but actual beans that are soaked overnight then cooked.
