The Old House is a Guatemalan/Peruvian restaurant which is frequented by the local Hispanic population. There is also a small parking lot. I ordered pick up but they didn't even prepare my food yet when I got there. However the food is good and the portion size was large. I had the pescado a lo macho which comes with a small rice and delicious green sauce. The dish was enough for two meals and consisted of a clam, a mussel, some squid and shrimp, yucca, and a large slab of tilapia. They also charged us 14.99 for a Michelada lol One chicken leg for a chicken dish and a little scoop of rice and a few fries will run you $30. Food was cold. The best thing was the ceviche. My family frequently orders from here and typically don't have an issue. I went in today to order my food, the girl behind the counter stared at me like she had a problem. Took my order and was less than friendly. I get home to eat and apparently they forgot to put the steak in the order. The attached picture is my uneaten food...smh They filled the tray with rice and decorated it with a few fries and about 8 pieces of steak. I thought Old House was really good. A friend told me to check it out so I went the other night. The inside was nice and the service was really on it. We ordered the chaufa de pollo and carne encebollado, and were somewhat comparing our experience here to Viva in Stillwater. Both dishes were very good and certainly worthy of the high yelp rating. Mixto Ceviche Peruano was so fresh - lots of tender calamari (clearly not frozen), with fish and 3 shrimp in lime cilantro marinade! I got it spicy and was happy with the heat. Could have been served colder but all in all would definitely order it again. Next time will try the ceviche Guatemala which is in tomato based marinade. Hands down - this beats all the other Peruvian restaurants in stamford for both the ceviche and lomo Saltado. Pollo Saltado also delicious. guarancos appetizer is amazing- could be a meal on its own! After an hour long drive from NYC to Stamford, we were famished and looking for a place to eat. This restaurant was among the few located near the Hilton Stamford Hotel so we drove on over. It was a pretty deserted restaurant for a Thursday evening, but no complaints. I ordered grilled chicken with sweet plantains and french fries. Very quiet restaurant with affordable prices. I really wanted to love this place, and I'm definitely going to give it another chance, because the food wasn't bad, it's just that they don't have pollo a la brassa on the menu. It's rare when they get it right for delivery - they Call me 9 out of 10 times to find out which building I live in and they still don't know how to come into the building that I have to meet them downstairs bc they can't dial properly - what's the point of delivery?? There were colored people waiting to be seated, but none of the waitresses never sat them in a table. Also there was a family and a guy that came in at the same time. Terrible service. Ordered take out at 620pm and the lady on the phone said the order would be ready in 25 minutes. Arrived at 7pm and the lady said to give her a few minutes. I waited 10mins and asked where my food was. She proceeded to say to continue waiting that there was a huge order placed between that time. Apparently these people don't stick to their word. It's 715pm and just got the order. BTW, the lady at the register was rude. The food here is decent but the service is poor to none.
