Here's a polished Yelp-ready version that keeps it warm and genuine: We've lived in White Plains for almost 10 years, and last night we finally tried Colombian House for the first time--we're so glad we did! The food was fresh, flavorful, and delicious, with generous portion sizes. We especially appreciated that the menu included photos, which made it so much easier to decide what to order. The staff could not have been nicer. Several members of the management team stopped by our table throughout the evening to check on us and make sure we were enjoying our experience. Service was quick and attentive, and the ambience is beautiful--warm, inviting, and a great place for dinner. Our only critique was the chicharrón, which was quite dry and chewy and didn't seem as fresh as the rest of the meal. Everything else was excellent. So happy we finally checked this place out after all these years. We'll definitely be back! read more

Just got in town...wandering around for a lunch spot and saw Columbia House...quickly checked "Yelp" of course...and based on reviews it was a go. Besides almost every table full at 1:15 lunch...including the back room and it is a large restaurant. We were seated without a wait. Took longer to navigate the huge menu. Hubby and I just wanted a light lunch. He ordered the chicken wings and I ordered the "fish" sandwich w/o cheese. Unfortunately, I was served the chicken sandwich not the requested fish sandwich. It still came with avacado, onions, tomato and lettuce. (No cheese as requested). Once I took a bite I realized I had the wrong sandwich. I was disappointed. Waiter apologized and offered to switch it up...I can see he felt bad and we were not quite sure where we both messed up...could have been me? Him? Not a big deal...I just kept it and enjoyed. Chicken was slighty dry (cheese would have fixed the dryness) but seasoned perfectly. It was a large sandwich with two layers of thin grilled chicken. I would split it next time. I like the way it was served...wrapped in a paper. I requested un-seasoned fries and my request was honored. It was all a generous portion. The restaurant is high energy, food around us all looked delicious and fresh, cocktails looked really good...I wanted to taste the cappuccino martini next to us...tempting to order one. Service was timely, friendly and efficient. Noise level a tad high however it was easy enough to carry on a conversation. Overall, I understand the reason this place was so busy...definately a solid fun place...wish it were on my neighborhood as I enjoy exploring different dishes. Thumbs up for sure. read more

We had a very good experience here. We came on a Thursday around 12:30pm. We were seated immediately and found what we wanted on the menu. The red sangria was very good and packs a punch. We ordered a chicken and shrimp dish and the pork with mushroom sauce. Both were very tasty and the food came out very quickly. Our server was friendly and the place looks well maintained and comfortable for a meal. read more

Been Visiting this Colombian Restaurant since its opening Several Years Ago! The food is Amazing! The Portion Sizes are Plentiful! The ambiance is Very Good! The service is second to none! The only negative is unfortunately the lack of Street Parking in the area! read more

Fairly decent array of foods for dinner. The Colombian House tapitas were plantains with different toppings on each of four plantains: pork cracklings, shrimp, grilled steak, and chicken. The chicken and the pork cracklings were the best ones; the steak was a tad dry, and the chicken was a bit plain. But in generally the combination with the guacamole (on top of all 4) was quite nice. The plantain gets a bit soggy when the other ingredients are on top. The chicken quesadilla was decent, and the freshness of the guacamole was much appreciated. There seemed to be an extra rich sauce inside the chicken filling that may have made the whole dish a bit too rich. The flavoring was nice though. The papa criolla (creole potato) was really nicely roasted, soft on the inside and then crispier on the outside. Well-flavored, too. The ensalada was decent, with a nice array of various vegetable types. There were a few strands of less than fresh lettuce, but generally it was quite nice and necessary to balance the rest of the meal. The grilled trout, with shrimp topped and creamy wine sauce, was excellent. The trout was nicely seasoned, though I wish the trout had a more specific flavor. The grilled shrimp was a nice touch. The creamy wine sauce gave it richness, though in this case there was a bit too much sauce slathered on the fish; could have done with a bit less. The menu seemed to have a lot of fried meat or fish dishes; I would like to see more vegetarian options. When live DJs come on weekends, it gets a bit loud, so beware, or, if you like that sort of thing, check it out! read more

Can you say pan de bono...- persona l favorite; I've walked past this place at least a dozen times always saying I'd go...my boss treated us to dinner here omg how delicious. Amazing cocktails my chicarrón was soo good and then rice and beans with my churrasco was perfectly prepared. The staff was attentive quick to get us anything needed. This is a very nice restaurant, however parking is hard to find. I went on a Sunday for lunch with friends. For appetizers we ordered pan de bono and for our meal we all ordered the badeja paisa. The food was amazing and the portion was large. For drinks we order a pitcher of sangria. The pitcher was mostly ice, we were better off ordering individual drinks. I then order a coconut mojito which was good . I was really disappointed with the service which was extremely slow. Our server only checked up in us twice, we even had to ask another server to get us our check. I couldn't understand why the service was slow when the restaurant wasn't busy. I would recommend this place for dinner with the family. read more

I came here with my mom to celebrate my birthday, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff were friendly, attentive, and quick. We started with the Tapitas Colombian House, and every bite was delicious. We each ordered the Mini Bandeja Paisa, and it tasted just like the authentic food I've had while visiting Colombia. The portions were surprisingly generous--even for the mini size! I also had my very first espresso martini because I wanted to see what all the hype was about, and I couldn't have picked a better place to try one. The Tiramisu Espresso Martini was absolutely amazing! The Lychee Martini was also very good. We also enjoyed the Limonada de Panela and the Guayaba Smoothie, both of which were refreshing and full of flavor. To top it all off, my mom surprised me with a tres leches cake for my birthday, and it was absolutely delicious. The staff came over and sang "Happy Birthday," which made the celebration feel even more special and memorable. Overall, everything was fantastic--the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere. It truly felt like a taste of Colombia. I will definitely be returning! I even took two buñuelos to go so I could enjoy a little more of the experience at home. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for delicious Colombian food, great drinks, and wonderful service. read more

Our family of three visited Colombia House in White Plains to celebrate Mother's Day, and as expected for brunch on such a busy holiday, the restaurant was packed. Me encanta este lugar. This place has a fun, vibrant atmosphere, the food is amazing, and the staff go above and beyond to make you feel at home. We came here for lunch one day and were craving a bandeja paisa, but also wanted to sample some other small plates. We weren't sure just how big the bandeja paisa would be, so our waitress talked us through each menu item and helped us choose an appropriate amount of food so that we weren't going overboard (but we wanted to try so many things!). We also ordered fresh juice; I had the lulo (con agua) and my +1 had mango (con agua). You can order the juice with milk, if you want, to make it more like a smoothie. The juices were a 10/10. Then, the food came out, and it was another 10/10. Everything was cooked to perfection and the presentation was beautiful. Having lived in various parts of Latin America throughout our lives, including Colombia, we felt right at home. We ended up taking some of the food home and, when we asked about one of the dipping sauces (because it tasted like nothing we had had before), the waitress kindly brought us a handful of containers of that sauce to take home. That is the kind of hospitality that truly makes you feel like you're in someone's house (in Colombia or elsewhere). We will definitely return here and bring friends/family because it was such a unique, positive experience. read more

Soooo disappointed with my dinner tonight. I ordered frozen strawberry daiquiri , yellow rice, beans & chicharron to go. Everything was perfect EXCEPT for the chicharron!!! You can clearly tell it was old & refried in grease when I placed my order. Skin wasn't crispy at all. The bag was dripping with old. This has NEVER happened in all the time I've ordered from here. read more

We originally came to Colombian House for brunch, but the lunch menu looked so good that we ended up ordering lunch instead! The food was flavorful, authentic, and generously portioned (everyone had leftovers to bring home). Highly recommend trying their traditional dishes, you won't be disappointed. We ordered mora which is their blackberry drink with either milk or water. I went for milk for a little cheat day drink. It was delicious and flavorful. Everyone else ordered their iced cafe helado. Which one of our party loved it and the other said it was far too sugary. For my meal I always stick to my staple seafood of Filete Caribeno which is flounder and shrimp, usually I love their white sauce but this time I opted for their garlic and oil for a lighter and healthier meal. The rest of our party ordered the mini paisa, salteado de pollo, and Bistec Al Caballo. The mini paisa was great and crunchy and still a huge portion for their mini option. The salteado de pollo I've had at other local Colombian spots by me and it was delicious for sure. The bistec al caballo was delicious looking and the eggs are always a perfect touch. We were all stuffed with no room for additional drinks or any of their delicious desserts. The inside was very well decorated and clean. Our server was helpful and patient as we are there talking for awhile. Parking outside is annoying as they really enforce the 1 hour time limit on the spots so definitely take advantage of the parking garage across the street! One thing to note you definitely need a reservation for dinner, and it's important to be on time (if not a little early, I've had them give away our table for being a few minutes late and not even attempt to call). The place gets busy, and they don't hold tables for long. Overall, a great experience, but be prepared for a packed house, especially in the evening. read more

Instagram-friendly Colombian restaurant in White Plains! Super cute decor, very friendly and helpful staff, and delicious, filling food. I met a few friends here for lunch on a Saturday and Colombian House did not disappoint! I got the MINI paisa--it was flavorful, well-made, and I was full after eating about a third of it. This was our first time at Colombian House. It was already pretty busy when we arrived for our 5:15 p.m. reservation. The atmosphere was lively, and the staff was friendly. I liked my steak dinner, but the food could have used more flavor and less salt. The service was a little slow because they didn't seem to have enough wait staff for the number of guests. Portions were large enough for me to take half of my dinner home. The flan and tres leche desserts were very good. read more

Good food, good times at this great restaurant. This place served us so gracefully and provided us with such fantastic friendly service I would go back time and again. The group I went with was large and the bill was so reasonable I thought they made a mistake. The food was delicious, well seasoned and d served nice and hot despite the place being packed. Afterwards we went to the bar to enjoy a couple of more drinks and enjoyed the performance of a very attractive lady who sang with such passion it was great. A truly fun spot. Parking in White plains could be a challenge but around the corner from the place I found a municipal lot that only cost a me few bucks which added to the experience of the evening. The entrance is around the corner but you can walk out almost in front of the restaurant. Cool! read more

Lively music, nice décor and good food made for a pleasant evening with a friend. We arrived in time to enjoy one cocktail discounted cocktail during Happy Hour. We ordered the sangria for $7 before they added tax. Unsure if appetizers are discounted? I asked for a happy hour menu but was told they don't have one. Margaritas, mojitos, pina coladas and sangria are discounted. These drinks are premade in a slushy type of machine Unsure if the liquor is poured in after or part of the batch of drinks already made? We shared the baby empanadas - little fried beef potato patties. The mini empanadas were nicely flavored accompanied by two dipping sauces. There was plenty for the two of us to share. For dinner I selected the typical Colombia dish, Bandeja Paisa The dinner consists of a piece of steak, chorizo link, slices of avocado, sweet plantains (maduros), pork crackling (Chicharrón), fried egg on top of steak and beans (Frijoles ) and white rice. We substituted yellow rice for white for a small surcharge. The rice was full of flavor and a very hefty portion. The beans were creamy and served on the side in a cup. They were the best Latin style beans I've ever eaten. The only miss for me was the steak which was tough, and the fried eggs yolk was hard cooked. The Chicharrón was savory and crunchy. I intended to order the regular size version of this dish, but the server suggested the mini size. He was right, it was more than enough food ($17.99) I couldn't finish more than half the dish, so the rest went home with me. My friend ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce (camarones al mojo de ajo) served with Tostones (fried green plantains) on the side with yellow rice. Nice size shrimp in a velvety smooth garlicky sauce. She offered me some, but I had enough on my plate, so I'll take her word it was good. I did have a tostone which was fried perfectly. They also have a location in New Rochelle. This one in White Plains serves Breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Will I go back? Yes, going for happy hour tonight! read more

One of my first times having Columbian food, and it did not disappoint! My favorite was the Carne Molida which was ground beef with eggs on top. You could choose the side (Salad, Sweet Plantains, Fried Plantains, etc...) and I am so glad I chose Sweet Plantains! I enjoyed eating the beef with plantains, the avocados and yellow rice on the side. The portions were huge so we ended up just going with the entrees, but would love to try appetizer dishes next time. Interior was stylish and customer service was great! Would totally come back to try the other dishes. read more

My Colombian friend recommended me this place and I would say: in terms of food it was really tasty, and not only that also they serve really big portions where you can easily share with your partner and you won't pay a crazy bill. I got "Mini Paise" it filled me up and I had to take a lot of leftovers home. The beans they are serve with tho, are fireeeee!!! In terms of the place I would say is a family restaurante with nice ambiance, good latin music and nice people around. I felt like most of the people that were there knew the place for their good Colombian dishes. I am not giving more stars because I had a bad experience with my bill, where they charged me for more things than the ones I ordered and I didn't realize until after a couple of days when I checked my receipt after cleaning up my bag. I got really mad at the moment but I decided to learn from the experience and since then I always check my bills. Hoping it was an accident I would recommend you to be carful with your bill if you go to this restaurant... read more

Service was great , since I was seated and served almost immediately. The waiter suggested some of his favorites since it was my first visit - tapitas for starters and cazuela peruana. Four tapitas were served on a corn cake - shrimp, fried pork, steak and fish. All were very good with freshly prepared tomato and red onion toppers. The cazuela was new for me- think soup with ground beef, fried pork, potatoes, plantains and beans. Packed with flavor and a very hearty portion. On a cold night with snow in the forecast. This was comfort food. The pork was more fatty pork belly than pork loin/chop. I found myself constantly discreetly removing the fatty pork pieces. I'm sure the pork adds flavor and is necessary for the dish, but for me, it could have been deleted altogether. The plantains were such a welcomed taste to the meaty bowl. The servings are generous, so bring your appetite. Reasonably priced and a great addition to the numerous international cuisine restaurants in the area. read more

Ordered piña colada, it was good, but very sweet. Ordered a salmon salad. It was a bit disappointing. The salmon was very dry. Ordered pechuga Hawaiian (chicken with pineapple sauce), and it was good. Couldn't finish so I packed it up to go, but it didn't taste as well when I brought it home. This was my first time trying Columbian food and I'm so glad I did because it did not disappoint at all! We went on a weekend evening around 6:30pm and there was about a 40 minute wait. It was definitely worth it though because the food and atmosphere was amazing. Upon walking in, it was bustling with friends and family laughing and chatting together, which immediately made me smile. While it was a fun environment, the music was blasting and it was unfortunately a little loud for us to easily have a conversation even though we were seated near the corner. We started out with the half pitcher of passionfruit sangria which I'd recommend to split between a couple people. We both ended up ordering the Pechuga Marinada (grilled chicken with shrimp in creamy wine sauce) with tostones and arroz amarillo. The portion sizes were huge (we went home with leftovers) and the food was soo delicious. I loved the creamy sauce that went perfectly with the chicken and shrimp, and the rice was super flavorful - surprisingly one of my favorite sides! So happy we found this place and it will definitely be a favorite in the area! read more

I give Colombian House 5 stars for delicious food cooked to perfection and courteous wait staff who are fast and efficient, and got our order right on the first try. If I have any complaint at all, it would just be that the music is very loud. So, not a great place to sit and have a quiet conversation over dinner, but with the festive environment, it seems like it would be great fun for a group of friends or a large family to celebrate a birthday. We also got a few pastries to go, from their pastry cabinet, and they were all excellent, as well. We will definitely be back and we've already told some friends. read more

Good food. Had chicken and shrimp tacos and the salmon salad. Everything was great. Lemonade excellent also.

Food is great as always. Disappointed that they changed the way their uber eats menu works- now you have to choose 2 sides for your entree and they have to be different. I always used to get 2 sides of yellow rice, but now it forces me to choose a different second side. Even more disappointing, when I called to ask if we can just get yellow rice even if the order says yellow rice and French fries- a woman answers the phone and then goes silent after I explain my situation. Makes me feel like she didn't want to deal with it and hung up. I called back 2 times and the same result with her hanging up happened each time. Not great service if you ask me. Other than that, when I go to the restaurant I have a great time. read more
