I came here on a whim and it was delicious, great service and the food had so much flavor. The dishes were huge and affordable. We ordered the beef Sancocho, bandeja paisa and a arepa con queso. My only complain is I prefer the queso fresco on my arepa not regular mozzarella. The portions were big enough for two people. If you are in the area, this is restaurant is a good option for a nice lunch with friends or family, although prices are a bit pricey, they have an authentic Colombian flavor, The staff have a lot hat to fill, they have several functions at once, so I recommend to the managers of the restaurant to hired more people, so do not be upset if the services is a little slow, just be patient, because I guarantee you that the food will have great quality and quantity. I order the Sobrebarriga a la Criolla a nice and huge plate fill with Flank Steak Creole, potatoes, cassava, white rice, salad avocado, plantains and corn cake. Wow! So so good! You might get some funny looks from behind the counter if you are Asian and go with 1 or more other Asians, but it's okay... I grew up in Florida and LOVE almost all hispanic food so funny looks won't stop me from enjoy delicious Columbian food. Definitely Aires de Columbia does not upset! The ladies who wait the tables were very nice and in good spirits though. They were eager to explain things we didn't know on the menu and seemed pleased that we were there. The smoothies and juices were really good! Basically you choose if you want it milk or water based. I got a guava juice. The Bandeja Paisa is a must! It is so much food just for $14. If you can finish this entree early in the day, you're pretty much set for the rest of the day (I can't imagine how many calories are in it!). It has a thin but fairly large piece of steak, chorizo and a strip of fried pork belly with beans and rice, sweet plantains, avocado slice, salad, sweet plantains and arepa. Although the environs on Post Road are being upgraded, the inside of this place is charming, with a nice bar/restaurant feel - it's more relaxing than Pantojarse. Stopped by for lunch on Friday - the meters only allow 1 hr. parking at that time of day, Started with a Colombian beer, along with an empanada. The empanada was in the fried style - I prefer the baked Argentinian style and it didn't come with any sauce. I'd have something else next time. The Bedford Gourmet and I both ordered the soup/stews that come with a plate of steak, rice and beans for $5 more - he went with mondongo (tripe), I ordered the daily special fish. The server brought two bowls of mondongo - mine went back to the kitchen. The fish stew arrived a few moments later - the highlight of this meal -- large chunks of fish and potato in a mild, creamy broth - on it's own 4-5 stars. I tasted the mondongo which also was good - the tripe was pretty tender, and the soup had good flavor. The thin piece of steak - I am guessing shoulder -- was overdone and a bit chewy, the beans were not all that flavorful, but the rice was good. Had to run out to feed the meters at this point. Overall I enjoyed the place more than the three stars would indicate - I'd try other things next time - maybe a bandeja paisa. read more

Been here a few times and we leave very satisfied and while not much on the pockets. Service is just OK, they need 1-2 more helpers to make the place great. We came across their menu today and decided to do a drive by- if the place looked clean, was well-lit and had customers, we'd stop in for a late lunch. There were a few guys sitting at the bar, chatting and listening to the Latin music from the jukebox against the far wall. On my way home after leaving white plains hospital with bronchitis I was looking for some real home cooked Spanish style food and I stumbled across this restaurant. I mainly went in for soup but took a look at their delicious menu and definitely didn't get a soup. I ordered their breaded chicken which came with rice salad and maduros. I asked if they could sub the salad for beans and they did. All I can say is the food was delicious and enough for possibly two people. The style of food is Columbian and it took me back to my childhood memories of eat traditional Columbian food. I would definitely recommend this place if you are in the white plains area. It's on the corner and there is a ton of street parking "metered" but that is to be expected now. All in all the restaurant is decorated nicely they have about 4 big screen TVs and there is music playing. Their explanation - they've raised the price and did not update the menu. Another explanation offered to us, they added taxes into the entree prices on the bill...(that didn't add up either as the prices of the entrees on the bill were 1-2 dollars over the price on the menu). I had eaten here early on a Monday evening. The restaurant is homey and clean, meter parking in front. The waitress was very nice and attentive. This is a neighborhood restaurant. When I went everyone knew each other and were all cracking jokes and enjoying a good time. The food is great and the amount you get for the price is even better. I had the bandeja paisa (hope i wrote it right) which was great. My boyfriend had the Milanesa which was amazing. I don't mind the loud music, I grew up going to Dominican restaurants which always have music playing louder then what it should be but if your not one who likes loud music this is something you might find annoying. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because they do not accept credit cards. SERVICE: The service was just ok, could be better, All of our plates arrived at the same time with the exception of my daughter's which wasn't good, all it was was a simple plate of rice. My wife's plate wasn't hot enough and that was minus brownie points for her. As for my plate it' was ok. Our drinks arrived in a timely manner as well but when it came to getting the check we had a bit of wait. Overall they could use another waitress to help out. A bit too slow. Also there is an 8% surcharge if you pay by card. Not cool. My advice bring cash. GRADE: C FOOD: Well as someone who is Colombian and grew up in Queens... this is where the place fell short. We started with ordering some Empandas and this usually a barometer of how the rest of the food might be. If you nail that then chances are the main entrees will be good. Not here, they were just ok. We then all ordered the Bandeja Paisa and I have to say we were somewhat disappointed. Some of the items on plate fell flat in flavor and some were just ok. GRADE: C DRINK: Sodas and beers, hard to mess that up. Unless they come warm, which they were not. GRADE: C+ AMBIANCE: Not much here, could use a bit more. More Colombian pride is in need. The "Plato Paisa" is amazingly well prepared. You will be transported to the Antioquia región in Colombia. The "Gallina Sancocho" is ver y good. The "Mondongo" is the best ever! MUST READ. I'd give this a 0 rating if I could. I live up the block from this place. I go here often and was always satisfied. This day in particular I went in to eat and as usual I would get a mini bandeja paisa. Everything was fine they brought me my food and as I was eating I realized there was HAIR in my food. She then calls over the lady that had brought out my food over and shows her next thing that same lady brings me my plate back and puts it in front of me and has the AUDACITY to say" there's no hair here we don't see it". THEY TOOK THE HAIR OUT OF THE RICE. I was in utter shock ! Like I had no words literally NO words. The waitress whom I had showed the hair to then says " No I didn't see anything " She then leaves goes behind the bar and ties her hair up. If there was no hair then why did everyone start tying their hair up????!!!!?. She proceeded to say " I'm not gonna charge you full price " LMAOO what in the world !! I go to this place a lot because my mom loves it. They are so good at remembering what we want every time we walk through the door. I've gone for lunch on weekdays, dinner on weekdays and dinner on weekends. This place is crowded on Saturday evenings. The bar is full of guys throwing back beers. They play Colombian Music all the time. The owner and the other woman who is always there are very nice. There's a waitress named Stella who is always laughing and in a good mood. The empanadas are here are marvelous. When I go I get one empanada, arroz y frijoles and it's about $7-8 and it's the perfect sized meal to fill you up. The buñuelos here are a great snack to take home and eat at anytime of the day. The service is quick. If you don't speak English, don't be shy because they'll accommodate you :) read more

You have no idea how happy I was I noticed this on Post Rd driving into work. When I was having my car serviced, i figured I walk across the street and have breakfast. I had the recalentado dish. it was made fresh to order and it was in fact incredibly delicious. The staff was very nice as well. I decided to go back and try lunch with my wife. My goto dish at a Colombian restaurant is the Bandeja Paisa/Campesina, referred to as the farmers dish. I literally shed a tear to how delicious and fresh everything was. I couldn't even finish it because there was so much food. Here is the best part, the food was still delicious the next day! That's how you can tell how good a place is.
