Found this place while on a walk and it definitely hit the spot. A new morning/coffee favorite …read more Everything is fresh and the dishes are pretty big and satisfying. They have Karaoke nights too. They have a nice bar and a good selection of drinks, not beers on tap tho. Everyone is nice and they all usually seem to like working there. Paid parking is all around

There was some confusion when we arrived. The waitress spoke zero English but they do comprehend…read moreher Spanish. Me I speak and understand a good amount but communication with her was atrocious and we realized she didn't want us here. It was 7:45 and they were breaking down the front line. She told us they close at 9. They are advertised to be open until 10 pm and I showed her They had no sancocho no soup? She didn't bother to ask the kitchen. The same with Morcilla. She didn't ask the kitchen. We ordered 2 of the same plates and 1 order of Salchipapas . The dish was Grilled steak chicken chorizo and Chicharron. . She asked what sides my daughter wanted ( accompaniment) gave her a choice rice beans avocado plantano maduro tostones and fries.. For my order ( exactly the same dish) I was told no I do not have a choice and if I wanted fries instead of the sweet plantains she would be selling me an order of fries and not giving me the sweet plantains.? What? So I just went along with her . The food was prepared fresh with great seasoning and looked presentable. The chorizo was the worse part of the disk. It was overcooked and chewy like a shoe. The restaurant is casual. Not fancy at all but. Very clean. Buyer beware it was me a toddler a teenager and a 20 year old. She added an 18 percent tip to the bill. The restaurant was empty only is. She stood in the dining area and never once checked on us. We were very uncomfortable with her so we took most of the food to go and I reduced the tip amount.

When we went to this restaurant a few weeks ago, it had the name Makondo, not Pantojarse…read more The environment in Makondo was welcoming and warm, with a mural of los cafeteros that immediately lets you know you're in Colombia. There is a take-away area at the front where you can purchase breads, arepas, and other easily portable foods, in addition to the tables and seating area in the back of the restaurant. We opted to dine-in for breakfast and try a variety of plates: calentado, arepa con chicharron, morcilla, and bunuelos. The calentado transported me back to Medellin and, honestly, it kept me full for the entire day. The morchilla, arepas, and chicharrones were cooked to perfection and we were provided with a variety of sauces to add an extra boost of flavor. Absolutely everything was delicious and the prices are incredibly reasonable when compared with the other breakfast restaurants in the area. The service was very friendly and attentive. Most of the clients spoke Spanish, including us, but we did hear them speaking English with a few tables that morning. This restaurant is a little piece of Colombia in White Plains and brings some much needed diversity (and flavor!) to the regular breakfast scene in this city.
