Heard good things about this place so I decided to order the food for my Christmas party from here. Big mistake, I explained that I would be picking up the food at 1230. When I come to pick up the food the cashier did not seem to understand what I was talking about. I explained that my order was set for 1230 and not 2 pm. I was excited to try one of the few spanish restaurants near my home. To say my visit here was a waste of time is an understatement! I left this restaurant upset, disappointed and still HUNGRY...the service was as tasteless as the food. This is not what the Dominican culture represents at all! I ordered a simple dish, white rice, fried chicken and beans. The white rice was burnt, the fried chicken was old with no flavor. The beans and sweet plantain were alright, not what I know they could be. My boyfriend ordered white rice, pernil and beans. He too stated that the white rice was burnt (Before me; i picked the place so I tried to play it off) and the pernil was dry We took 3-4 bites before deciding we could not finish our food. We explained to the manager that the food was poorly cooked, apologized because we hate to be "those people" she grabbed our plate and threw the food away. We assumed she would discount our total. She charged us 18 dollars for water and pernil and explained the rice and fried chicken were taken off the bill. Still confused since we didnt touch the pernil at all. We asked her to pack it up for us. if we were paying for it we wanted to take it home. She went on to say "well you told me everything was bad so i already threw it out." We decided 18 dollars was not worth the back and forth with someone who obviously doesnt care about customer service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The service is poor, the food is blah and if you ask me 18 dollars is pricey for pernil and two bottles of water. read more

Super rude staff and they don't speak any English. They also cross contaminate by using the pork tongs on my chicken more than once and when brought to their attention they argue and gaslight like you're lying or something. Super strange. Just started working in Stamford and the selection of food is really limited around my office. Decided one day to venture out a bit further and found this spot. Being from the caribbean and having years and years of authentic PR/DR cooking.. I must say.. this is as good as it gets! taste almost like home! The pernil was good, definitely give guavete (PRican's from the island knows what I am talking about) a run for its money, but still lacks some kick to it... regardless it is still better than anything I've had around the area. My only complaint was the arroz amarillo... a little under-cooked.. may be the chef bad day.. but will keep on coming back to try other dishes! Can't beat that 8$ a plate price for the amount of food... was only able to eat half of it.. read more

Bachata is a PR spot on the less traveled side of Stamford? I had to go under a train track and around a dodgy corner to arrive here. The rice, beans and mondogo sauce were delicious. The fried fish that I ordered looked good but was as hard as a rock. I was warned by the sales associate it wasn't fresh and was too hard. I tried to brave it and see what could be salvaged of the fish. Nothing could. What was edible was delicious. There were some people napping and sleeping at the table next to me. They looked a mixture of drug induced, drunk or haven't slept in 3 days. I don't know what kind of crowd they attract but for lunchtime I was taken aback. It'd probably be great for take out and based on what I ate here the food is definitely worth trying. It was yum. read more

Staff very friendly and serves you right away. Great spot for a quick lunch for pick up or dine in. I ordered Pernil, Yellow rice and Beans. - The pernil cooked we'll but lacked flavor, coming from a Spanish family and even being able to cook it myself I was not impressed - The rice also cooked to perfection but also lacked that SPANISH CUISINE taste you typically find in Spanish rice - The beans had no flavor what so ever. Delicious Latin food! They've got chicharron (fried pork belly), guiso de carne (beef stew) and other good stuff. The beef stew has so much flavor, like home cooked food! I usually take out to go while my friend waits in the car because it's hard to find parking in the area. Place is nothing fancy, just great food and friendly staff. read more

Awesome little hole in the wall. Helps if you speak Spanish, but not necessary. They have some gigantic portions for the money. The menu is a little bit confusing as it doesn't really list combo plates, but basically you get rice and beans and whatever meat(s) you want to have-delicious pork that's crispy on the outside, various kinds of chicken, beef stew, chicharrones, etc. Again, the portions are BIG. Awesome food at a low price. Girl behind the counter doesn't speak great english so your order can get screwed up sometimes but the food makes up for it. The pernil is amazing. Rice is perfectly cooked and the beans with yucca in it is great! Other choices is the beef which is so tender and flavorful.
