a plate of beans and rice
Ebony C.

Bachata is a PR spot on the less traveled side of Stamford? I had to go under a train track and around a dodgy corner to arrive here. The rice, beans and mondogo sauce were delicious. The fried fish that I ordered looked good but was as hard as a rock. I was warned by the sales associate it wasn't fresh and was too hard. I tried to brave it and see what could be salvaged of the fish. Nothing could. What was edible was delicious. There were some people napping and sleeping at the table next to me. They looked a mixture of drug induced, drunk or haven't slept in 3 days. I don't know what kind of crowd they attract but for lunchtime I was taken aback. It'd probably be great for take out and based on what I ate here the food is definitely worth trying. It was yum.

Food is really good. Music can be too loud sometimes. Defenetly recommend take out. There could be some shady characters there.

HUGE lunch plate of rice/beans, stewed beef, and crispy pork.

Great lunch spot to pick up a tasty/ fresh affordable dominican food. Can't beat $7 for a massive plate of home cooked food.

The inside of the restaurant is decently sized, clean, and even has a space where you can host a DJ, which is a nice touch. There was a slight language barrier, but it wasn't a big issue. I waited about 5-10 minutes for my to-go order since the hostess/server was the only one working outside of the kitchen staff. I ordered the MOFONGO MIXTO (Mixed Mofongo), which is crispy green plantains mashed with garlic and olive oil, paired with chicharrón, chicken, or cheese. It was solid--rich, tasty, and especially delicious with the salsa blanco, which was creamy and garlicky. That sauce was a first for me, and I loved it! While I've had mofongo that included rice and beans elsewhere, this version stood on its own nicely. A couple of notes: parking is a bit challenging, and I'd recommend placing your order through an app to help navigate any potential language barriers. Overall, a good experience, and I'd definitely give it another shot!

It is a family run establishment and having just opened, the place is super clean and super modern. There is a good amount of seating, so they can accommodate a large group easily. They are open late and on certain days, they have a DJ and the place turns into a club. The food was extremely fresh and is home cooked style. The chivo guisado was extremely juicy and the meat was so tender - falling off the bone. The pico pollo was great too and very well seasoned. Portions sizes were generous with very reasonable prices too. The staff are very friendly too. It's a nice place to come and enjoy some authentic Dominican food with some bottles of Presidente or cocktails. I recommend giving them a try. You will not be disappointed.

From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel genuinely welcome, like you're a regular even on your first visit. The food is absolutely outstanding fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. And I have to talk about that green sauce they serve on the side... whatever magic is in it, I could seriously put it on everything. It's that good. To top it all off, I tried their tres leches cake and it was perfection, moist, rich, and not overly sweet, just the way it should be. Amazing food, wonderful people, and flavors that keep you thinking about your next visit. Highly recommend!

Also we went at night and the food was dry-ish, plantains were not fresh and yammy as u love them. Oxtail was dryyyy. Yukka (for extra $2) was dryyy. From the meat options we got the best was chicken, chicken in my (super salty) soup was perfectly cooked. Grilled chicken was great too, juicy with crunchy skin. Beans were cooked perfectly. Too much rice in every plate and not enough beans though. I really do t know if during lunch time all that food was freshly cooked and juicy and just got dried up by dinner time. I might give it another chance if I am in the area and super hungry, cos it was generously served.

We enjoyed the variety and selection like tostones, Mofongo con camarones (shrimp), rice with brown peas, stew gizzards, empanadillas, fish con variety peppers and onions, salmon, pollo guisado and typical fruit drinks and traditional desserts. Prices are right!!! Lady Griselda was super attentive, friendly to us and every customer coming thru the doors. She was explaining the different food and dishes selection. You can feel the pride behind the food, the service, and the atmosphere. The owners, Griselda and Rafael, were incredibly kind and helpful. I don't eat meat, and they immediately listened to what I was looking for and recommended the shrimp in garlic sauce. I've had this dish at a lot of Central American and Latin restaurants, and this was easily one of the richest, most flavorful versions I've ever had. The garlic sauce had so much depth, and the shrimp was cooked perfectly. The tostones were also outstanding. My wife loves tostones, so we've had them plenty of times, and these were some of the freshest and best we've had, perfectly salted, crisp, and the plantain was cooked exactly right. Not mushy, not hard, just perfect. Their fresh juices were also incredible and absolutely worth ordering. The vibe of the restaurant is a huge part of the experience. It feels authentic, lively, and welcoming, and even the artwork inside and outside is worth stopping to see. The restaurant was busy with people coming in for what looked like buffet-style Dominican food, but my dish was cooked fresh in the back and still came out super fast. Another moment that stood out was when I noticed there were no empanadas de queso left. Griselda kindly told me it would only take a minute to make one fresh for me, and it came out perfect, especially with their house-made green sauce. My only small suggestion would be to add a hotter, punchier red sauce for people like me who love extra heat and want even more of a kick. But overall, this place is a gem. If you're looking for authentic Dominican food, Latin cuisine, fresh juices, tostones, shrimp in garlic sauce, empanadas, and genuinely kind service, Mami's Latin Cuisines Restaurant is absolutely worth visiting. Highly recommend.

I got the el original chimi and a big papi hotdog. The hotdog was the messier thing i've ever eaten but it was DELICIOUS, not to mention all beef. It was packaged well and arrived intact. The chimi however... it was disappointing. It lacked flavor. The patty lacked the ground beef texture. The sandwich was served in a small sandwich bag. All of the toppings were at the bottom of the sandwich. I wouldn't get a chimi from here again but I would definitely get their loaded hotdog again for sure, and I'd try other items on their menu.
