Very special treasure of Brooklyn. Grace Lynn is so helpful. I have to pick up rainbow cake, Santa Xmas cake, a cookie platter and some cannoli. So many treats that I have never seen before. One lady had trays of little brown balls. I asked Gracelyn and she explained that they were Struffoli ( Italian "Honey Balls"). How cute! I am giving cookies away to neighbors and friends. One of these cannolis is for me . It has a delicate sliver of candied orange rind in it.... My absolute favorite. The ambiance is a wonderland of treats. I am enjoying every second here. One of my favorite local bakeries in Brooklyn. Best value and variety here... Everything tastes good and the service is pretty efficient. Nevermind the long lines at times - well worth the wait and don't fret, it tends to move quickly. There are several staffers on hand and each person gets their own staffer designated from beginning of the purchase to the end. As long as you're on the line, you'll be served. Cake prices start at $16+ and many come in as many as 3-4 sizes so do ask if you need something in a different size. There's two cake fridges for the usual cakes and a specialty fridge for the more custom or seasonal cakes. Besides that, tons of fresh bread, cookies by the pound and other desserts like sugar cookies, rainbow cake, chocolates and individual portions of their desserts. Think Fererro Rocher cake, Red Velvet, Cheesecakes, and seasonal fruit tarts. Pignoli cookies, black and white, linzer tarts and brownies. Just tons to choose from. And again, best value!! Gifts on hand for those in a rush and want something already prepared. Custom cakes can be ordered but give two days or more notice. And their hours are very good, 7am-7pm most days. A neighborhood establishment that hasn't changed! Locals know where to get some really good Italian pastries! The tiramisu cake was quite delicious and a tad too sweet! My taste buds don't count because I have been cutting back on the sweet stuff so what is normal can be very sweet to me! I can taste the mascarpone cheese and coffee! There is a good ratio of cake to cream. The cake is surrounded by lady fingers and the top looks like a rich caramel colored glaze! So rich and unctuous! I absolutely love this place. They seriously have some of the best pastry that I've have thus far. It's not too sweet, nice and creamy and reasonable priced. Yay! I initially came here for their apple crumb cake and when I arrived I saw myself eyeing other desserts and so I got their strawberry shortcake cream puff and a half pounds of chocolate raspberry filled buttered cookies. Everything was sooooo good. It was not too sweet but yes it tasted fresh and perfectly chilled. As for the staff they are friendly and patience as they wait for their customers to decide. It's weird to say that I've lived in Bensonhurst for a majority of my life and haven't been here until recently when almost all Italian bakeries were closed for their summer vacation. I used to work at a great Italian bakery in Bensonhurst when I was younger so that was the main place I frequented and what I hold all Italian pastries up against. They had a nice selection of classic pastries which made me nostalgic. We ended up getting a plethora of pastries to bring over to our friends' place and it turned out to be their favorite pastry shop so they thoroughly enjoyed! Place is clean and pricing is good. My go to local pastry/birthday cake place. I usually get the strawberry shortcake with pistachios on the side for my birthday. The cream is super fluffy and the pistachio flavoring gives it a little accent. I got the cheesecake with american cheese (I think that's light cream but i'm not sure). It tasted cakey and different from normal cheesecake. It's not something i'd get again. But, don't let that discourage you from trying their other options. The croissant with almond butter is super delicious and crispy when it needs to be. That is my favorite croissant. It's a perfect breakfast/ afternoon tea time item. The croissant with chocolate inside is enjoyable for all/people that normally don't eat croissants, including kids. Really at a crossroads on the rating here. This has been our first experience with Rimini, so I have nothing to compare it to (as in previous experiences), so for a quick recap, continue reading. Service/staff = pretty decent. Didn't really talk to the workers much but the young woman who helped us was courteous and speedy. The shoppe itself was very clean and organized inside, so that was nice. Large array of cookies, pastries and cakes. The cakes were beautiful. We came in to get one of the infamous raspberry mousse cakes and it is DELICIOUS and very appealing to the eye. It's my moms birthday so we got her one because she tried a little of it years and years ago and has wanted to get one for herself. So as far as the cake goes, everything was great and we highly recommend trying the raspberry mousse cake. However, we also got a few cannolis and they were THE WORST cannolis I have ever had. On top of that, I'm about 99% positive they were expired/had gone bad. There was a VERY odd taste to them and I kept blaming it on the fact that I haven't had a cannoli in 10+ years since I moved out of Brooklyn (I used to work for Cuccios Bakery so I was very familiar with cannolis back in the day) but waking up to extreme stomach pains this morning definitely solidified my assumption that the cream had gone bad. I understand that during a pandemic, the bakery is probably not getting as much business as it normally would, but in that kind of case, just make less pastries so there's less waste but please don't sell pastries that have gone bad because it is HELL for people the following day. So overall, experience wise and the cake was great but I had to deduct some stars for the fact that I am now paying the price for bad cannolis. read more

As one of the busiest family-owned bakeries in the area, Rimini has been serving the Bensonhurst area for nearly the past 50 years. This Brooklyn staple has been renowned for their incredible variety of baked goods that range from customized cakes to Italian specialties like cannolis and cookies. While the shop isn't all that big, the sheer spectrum of things that they make and serve is mind blowing. I never like to exaggerate that a place offers everything, but I really do think this might be the case. It's a perfect place to browse and take in the intoxicating aroma that all good bakeries tend to have. I wouldn't put it past most folks to come in unannounced and walk out with a number of items. In addition to some killer Italian pastries, they have a really great selection of seasonal items as well. From pumpkin pies in the fall to holiday pastries toward the end of the year, valentine treats and summery sweets, they are incredibly thoughtful with all they have to offer. I was reminded of their greatness from a recent celebration I attended for my friend's birthday. The customization of their cakes / treats is right up there with some of the best I've seen. The designs are crafty, the presentation is impressive, and the creativity gets a thumbs up. I would recommend calling ahead to check if they carry any particular items and would certainly recommend for folks to consider one of their interesting custom cakes. My 1st time ordering a Riceball here. They make it very similar to the way we make it. It's probably one of the best so far that I've eaten in Brooklyn. I picked out a cake which I was a little disappointed the salesgirl didn't understand or maybe she just started. I was looking for a shadow cake. Which is typically a black & white cake without fruit inside it. The cake in the photo is a chocolate cake with strawberries in it. Which she did not mention. Almost, but almost does not cut it. The Linzer tart is almost perfect, as the inside jam is fresh, and bursting with flavor, but the biscuit is so dense, and that it all falls apart with one bite. The custard boats are almost delicious, with fresh fruit and custard, but the crust is too sticky and flaky to truly enjoy any of it outside of the fruit and cream. The hamantashen are almost delightful, as the fruit filling is plentiful and authentic, but the outside is rough on the mouth and the overall cookie tastes too dry. The staff is almost friendly, but they seem slightly more detached than neighborly, which is what you want from a neighborhood bakery. The prices are almost fair for Bensonhurst, but you could get cheaper in Dyker Heights or Gravesend. Don't know if it was because I arrived first thing on a Saturday morning and got leftovers but the cannoli shells and lobster tail were both stale. Note: I have put cannolis in the fridge before and they're usually fine the next day so the fact that the ones that I got here lacked their characteristic crispiness was kind of astounding to me. The ricotta filling and rainbow cookies were still up to par though. Service was quick and friendly as always and prices are very reasonable. I love their Tiramisu for the strong coffee flavor in the sponge, also a big fan of the chocolate, strawberry & mango mousse cakes. My friends seem to enjoy the mango mousse cake the most, but I love them all. Their cakes are fresh, sweet without being cloyingly sweet and don't taste artificial. For example, while the adults enjoyed the chocolate mousse cake the children said it was not sweet enough. But this is more of a positive to me than a negative. A great italian bakery in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. They have a bunch of desserts and carbs in all sorts of forms. I've even seen some baklava in a tin sitting on display in the middle shelves, surprising for an Italian bakery. I've had the tiramisu, lobster tail, cassatini, red velvet, pumpkin mousse, pumpkin pie, pignoli, and butter cookies. Everything has been good. My favorites are their pignoli, lobster tail, butter cookies, and pumpkin mousse. I've even brought a box of butter cookies and pignoli back home to Los Angeles for my parents so they can have a taste too. Butter cookies are around $14/lb and pignoli are around $28/lb. They have seasonal goodies too like pumpkin and turkey decorated pastries in November or $3 mini gingerbread houses in December. I've yet to try their focaccia, macarons, and croissants. read more

Now finding a good Italian bakery is like looking for freaking Waldo!! There used to be an awesome one right by my parents' hood but one by one they closed up and turned to a 99cent store... it pretty much changed the landscape of Bensonhurst. I walked passed Rimini a few times but never had the opportunity to try out their goods until recently. So glad I did! It smells like nostalgia... and I couldn't be happier.
