It was quiet today when we were there and the employees spent the time cleaning and tidying the place. We were very impressed. I forgot to take a picture of my burger, but the "little hamburger" with lettuce, tomato, pickles, mustard and ketchup was filling and tasty.

You are now reading a review by the nationally renowned 5G Guru! Yup, that's me! Why me? In 1986 I…read morewas chowing down almost weekly at the very first 5G in Northern VA! I knew the father and his four sons by their first names, and they knew mine. Moving on, I have eaten at 5Gs in way over twenty states for a total of dozens and dozens if not hundreds of meals. This review is all about the often-ignored hotdog. So, what do you need to know about this bad boy? 1. It's all beef and made by Hebrew National. The dog is Kosher, but the meal is not because it is grilled on the same grill as bacon and other stuff. Bottom line, they start with a great dog. 2. The dog is split lengthwise before it is grilled. Because of this it needs a slighter bigger bun. More about this later. 3. All the burger toppings are available for the dog. Pro Tip #1- If you are insane, you can order cheese on your dog here. If you do, they will use a Kraft Single! Crazy right! I would rather have a root canal with no pain meds than do that! Pricing- 5Gs is infamous for being spendy! I call it the "Gasp!" factor. I ordered a dog, small Cajun Fries and a small drink and it set me back $14.49. This is much better than a burger meal so the gasping is much less. Presentation- You know the deal. The dog is wrapped in foil and at the bottom of a brown paper bag. On top are about a bazillion delicious fries. Pro Tip #2- Many folks think the fries should be crisper. Just ask and they will be happy to accommodate you and make them extra crispy! Unwrap the foil and you'll immediately see what I mean about the slighter bigger bun. I don't normally cut my dog in half but I did for this review so you can see a cross-section of the split dog. Taste- This is one seriously good dog! You get a nice snap when you bite into it. You can really taste the beef and it is very nicely grilled and caramelized. Among the big chains, most reviews place this dog in the top 3 and sometimes #1 in the country! I would agree. To me, a dog, fries and a drink here is a five star meal!

In my continuing quest to visit all the country club /golf course restaurants in my area I moseyed…read moreover here for lunch. I've found most of these restaurants to be better than average but this one was just A OK. It's located in Highlands Ridge which is a ginormous community smack in the middle of citrus country. Let your GPS do its thing as the signage is crappy. Atmosphere- As you might expect, it's located in a country club type building with plenty of parking. It's clean and contemporary inside with a small outside patio. There is a bar with no seating so it's more like a service bar. Overall the look and feel of the place is nothing special. Adult Libations- Two or three domestic drafts and a standard selection of domestic bottle beers and wine. The hard liquor is all the basics but once again nothing special. Food- This place is only open for lunch so you should expect a selection of sandwiches. Cheeseburgers, hot dogs, clubs Rueben's etc. along with fries and onion rings. I'm told the homemade soups are good, but I didn't try them. You should be seeing a theme here as the menu was nothing special. I went old school and ordered a cheeseburger and fries. It was out quickly and looked beautiful! The crinkle cut fries we perfect and a huge portion. They were piping hot and crispy and not greasy. Absolutely delicious. The burger was on a high-end and very nicely toasted bun. The toppings were fresh. The burger was huge with a nice crust on the outside. I was never asked how I wanted it done and unfortunately it was very close to well done and very close to dry. It did have a nice beefy flavor. If it had been medium it might have been amazing. Maybe it was my fault for not asking. The meal and a domestic draft set me back $12. If I was visiting someone in Highlands Ridge and for some reason wasn't fed and watered, I'd have no problem stopping here for lunch before hitting the road. Otherwise I wouldn't go out of my way to visit.

-- My craving was satiated! -…read more Cowboy Steak Salad popped into my brain and the craving was so strong I jumped into my car and drove the11 miles to this place. Here is what happened- The Chain- Based in Tampa, there are around 140 locations with the majority in Florida. They can be either franchised or corporately owned. They tend to use existing spaces so the interiors can vary quite a bit. Over the years, I think I've been to four of them. Arriving- This one is on the northbound side of US Route 27. It's in a plaza fronted by the local MickyD's. Just look for the golden arches. Plenty of easy parking. Pro Tip- If you are a Yelp Check In person you'll frown. The address is screwed up and maps about 5 miles away so no Check In! Ambience- These guys bill themselves as a Family Sports Restaurant and that's about right. Zillions of TVs! You'll be surprised how small it is. The u-shaped bar seats about 15. Booths around the edges and mostly high tops in the middle. There is nothing unique about it. It's clean & neat and otherwise unremarkable. Adult Libations- Full bar with maybe ten taps and lots of bottles. Not a fancy craft beer place. You'll have seen the selection many times. I ordered a pint of Goose Island IPA @ $6.50 but it was 2 for 1 so not only tasty but a great deal. Wi-Fi- Kind of a mess and needs work. There are four or five unsecured obvious listings, but they either had no internet or required registration which I'll never do. Fortunately, Xfinity had a strong local hotspot, so I was good to go. The App- Solid with great reviews! If you are ordering to-go or delivery, the app is a must. Customer Service- I sat at the bar, and my bartender was wonderful. Five stars and absolutely no complaints! Food- Giant, giant menu. They try to satisfy everyone. That rarely works but they give it a great try. It's American comfort and bar food and you've seen variations of it a million times before. I ordered my Cowboy Steak Salad @ $16,99 and specified medium rare. It comes with blue cheese dressing, but I subbed ranch with no problems. It came out exactly as I was craving. My steak was tender, sliced nicely and cooked perfectly. In addition to the greens, my salad included roasted corn, diced tomatoes, bacon crumbles, onion crisps and shredded jack cheese. All I can say is yum! Conclusion- So the place is nothing fancy or particularly original, but it was clean with a great bartender, very good entrée salad at a competitive price. It gets a solid three stars from me!

I am giving it a one star only because of last night's performance from the staff. We went there to watch the Super Bowl. If when we got there as we were sitting at the bar talking about the Super Bowl talking about waiting for Bad Bunny to come on they at that point should've told us that they were not going to be having Bad Bunny but the alternate Turning Point to be televised. They didn't and it ended up having me to cause a scene now I should not have because I'm old enough to know better however they should've known better to have announced it beforehand. Would that being said I will not be back to their establishment.
