For the past couple of months, I'd pass by the ice cream and dairy section of every grocery store that I visit. For some reason, the pandemic has made me crazy for ice cream, Mr Freeze, sorbet ,... pretty much any frozen treat that has sugar in. I love the minimalistic packaging from Righteous. When I first saw the dairy-free raspberry lime sorbetto at Longo's, I pounced on it like a cat that hasn't seen the light of day. I wanted it badly and didn't need to think twice about it. The raspberry lime sorbetto is heavenly! It's tangy, not too sweet, and satisfies my sweet tooth. So good! It's bright and makes my tastebuds dance. Last weekend, I was at Sobeys and Righteous varieties were on sale. The amount of time that I spent looking at all the flavours probably would have melted the popsicles had I opened the freezer door. I settled for the dairy-free mango pineapple sorbetto. It felt like early summer with each spoonful. The flavours were so fresh and bright. I have repurposed the first empty container. It stores tea nicely. I also like that it's a clear container. I can simply look at it and know what's inside without unscrewing it. I recently found out that you can do pickup orders at its store in Calgary. I wish that I lived closer. I love the dairy-free line. Righteous has just introduced its plant-based line of ice cream. My favorite was their lavender london fog. It was not too dense. Not too thick or too over powering. Light and refreshing especially on a hot day. Definitely one of the better gelato that I ever had. I loved it. The fruit passion lemonade was not bad either. They are only located in Calgary. The reason why I got to try it was because they sponsored the Ride To Conquer Cancer event. I was one of the riders. So I was lucky to be given the opportunity to try their gelato. If I go to Calgary, I will definitely go for their Gelato again. read more

My sister introduced me to Fiasco Gelato when she brought over a pint for dinner one evening. Since then, I've been dying to check out their main headquarters. We finally made it out on an early Sunday evening. The inside is huge! They've got pints to take home, merch (their socks are pretty cute) and a gelato flavour suggestion box. Someone make avocado mango please! There's a dozen flavours to choose from. Lucky, you can sample them all (maybe). Staff is super friendly and patient. There's free water (grab right by the entrance); of course, they come in small hipster mason jars. They also carry Rosso loose leaf tea, Grizzly Paw soda drinks and Truebüch kombucha. - Cold americano misto ($4.75 large) - B thought it was pretty smooth. - Tasting flight ($9.00) - how can you say no to a gelato tasting flight? I actually think it's a better deal than getting separate scoops! You get four flavours and they're very generous portions. We picked strawberry passionfruit (wanted more passionfruit flavour), duva date (amazing!), mango pineapple (had this before; delicious) and strawberry lemonade (really refreshing and lemony). I once went to Toronto in approximately 2013 and one of the stops I was told I had to go to was a gelato place called "Hollywood Gelato" so of course I went and I thought it was good and it has always been number one in my mind since Fiasco Gelato! This Gelato is seriously the best in Canada. They have many flavours but they have a delicious flavour called Hot Chocolate that is so good and my favourite. My second favourite of theirs would be salted caramel and finally my third favourite would be a seasonal that is for easter with the delicious easter eggs (mini eggs) that everyone dies for at Easter! Saturday June 23rd, 2018 Today Fiasco Gelato graciously catered Pinnovate in south's Calgary, 1st birthday party! They were giving samples of cookies and cream and chocolate. What an awesome experience! At last I went to the place! It's a Calgary base business so I think it's a duty for Albertans especially Calgarians to support this awesome business! When you enter the place you can see people are working in the factory. It has a warm cozy atmosphere, kinda like a family business! Everyone had smile on their face and I felt welcomed there. The customer service was awesome! I walked from work, on a cold day, with likeminded friends to have ice cream and what a good decision! The atmosphere was good, the quality of the ice cream was pretty good and overall I had a great experience and can't wait to take more friends to this place and share my joy! :) I don't think parking is an issue. That area in general is not the best area for walking, but we walked and it wasn't too bad. I definitely recommend this place and even though you can buy their products at some grocery stores, I think it would be a very good experience if you go to this place, where they actually make ice creams. read more

Fiasco location is a bit strange but pretty neat inside, we can see all the machines they use to make their flavour and frozen treats. When I walked in, the employee asked if I was picking up the dry cleaning..... WT*... I hope they don't say that to all their customers.... That aside, i tried the strawberry orange blossom (okay, not bad) and the cookie and cream (pretty good! and blue) I got a small cookie and cream and I asked why it was blue, she told me they partnered with a charity and their colour is blue hence the colour of the cookie and cream. Pretty good! I enjoyed the ice cream and definitely will come back and pick up their dry cleaning for free ice cream ;) read more

Welcome back FIasco! You were definately missed every since the disaster with the fire and everything. And congrats on the Best of Calgary award, it was well earned. At their BoC party, I was introduced to their staff one on one, and how awesome was that? You get to ask exactly what was their duties, but more importantly get to try out the fruits of their labour as it was literally made fresh sometime in the last 2-3 days (and sometimes the same day!). The S'mores was sublime, the Pomegranite was great and I there were so many really wicked flavours that I just can't get enough of. Also having met their creative lunatic in charge of new flavours (honestly, who thinks of Fried Chicken and Waffle gelato???), I got to be introduced to the methods and was amazed by the balance of actual fruit that's used in their many fruit flavoured gelatos and sorbettos. Add the high fat content and how little air, and you have a high quality product that I'm absolutely enamored of. Now, my only problem is to figure out how to eat the stuff regularly without going into a diabetic coma. Something to work on! read more

Honestly not sure what the hype is here, I have tried the Bourbon Vanilla bean and the Roasted Pistachio and I was dissapointed both times. Overly sweety, too icy and thin texture, no creaminess no smoothness, and the flavours are just odd, not what you expect, yes the packaging and idea seems nice but this is in no way worth the money you pay for. Best Expierence in Calgary so far (and im going on two years) How refreshing is it when a company actually cares. Pretty cool! So my first expierence was downtown and stopped at a food truck and got some of their icecream , Gelato. Ever since then, Ive been following them on instagram. Then one day I notice a post about a test kitchen! - so I comment back asking how To get there by CTrain and they answered back!! Too cool To get there by Ctrain; Get off at franklin and exit the statiob to the right. Follow that path down the hill and cut through the parking lots, past stantec. In 416 (yellow sign with black letters) its the first row hidden behind some parked white vans. About a 15 min walk from franklin. Easy mode! :) I was gifting for a friend and decided on the Hot Chocolate mix (pictured). Just add milk! Super reasonable prices and a wide selection. Something for everyone, thats for sure. 2 food trucks in one day? Yes. It worked out nicely since they were side by side outside of my work building. One for lunch and the other for dessert. I went after the 'Blackberry ice tea' and 'Kiwi krush' flavours. I'm used to gelato being tasty but mild in flavour. This gelato was a 'Pow, right in the kisser to the moon with you, Alice' flavour. It hit me off the bat. Strong flavour, fresh and filling. It's a bit on the pricey side, though. Definitely something that I couldn't have too often if I want to avoid bankruptcy. read more

Fantastic! Closest I have found to the amazing Gelato from Italy. And I love their rotating experiments, just took home a pint of "Foie Gras" and it is awesome! Tastes like bourbon and sea salt! Excellent Gellato for a decent price - my favourite part about these guys (and what bumped it up from 4 to 5 stars IMO) is that they are always coming up with some crazy innovative flavours - I've had a few and they are always worth trying! My first Fiasco Gelato experience was at their "Best of Calgary Celebration and Housewarming party" to celebrate the opening of their new head office in the NE. They had their food truck set up outside, letting guests sample various flavours of gelato and other treats. Fiasco Gelato serves homemade gelato and sorbetto in a variety of unique flavours including Indian Chai, PB & J, Smores, Nutella, Key Lime, Mojito, Blackberry Ice tea, and more. At $4.50(S); $6(Reg); $10(pint), I consider it fairly pricey for a frozen treat compared to other gelato places. I guess that is the price you pay for fresh ingredients. Their truck also serves gelato sandwiches (an ice cream sandwich but with gelato) for $5; cold and hot drinks including lemonade/limeade for $3; and Liege Waffles for $3.50 with your choice of gelato/sorbetto (+$2.50); nutella, raspberry caramel, or white chocolate pistachio topping (+$0.75). After sampling over 10 flavours, my favourites are "Peaches and Cream" which has a wonderful creamy texture with a fresh peach flavour; and their "Indian Chai" which was very light and refreshing. If you love chocolate, I suggest getting their "Chocolate Pretzel" which was silky smooth with a strong chocolate flavour that can curb any chocolate lover's cravings. However, I was a bit turned off by the soggy pretzels within the gelato. The most interesting one was their Blueberry and Basil which had a strong basil flavour. I also tried their Liege Waffles which is made from a dough instead of a batter. This lends to a denser, chewier waffle which I didn't enjoy very much. On the plus side, the portion is enough to fill you up! Their toppings were like a thick syrup to stand up to the dense waffle, but I found it overly sweet. Overall, I love Fiasco Gelato's fresh unconventional flavours, but I found most of them too sweet with an odd artificial sweetness to it. read more

Usually I'm a big fan of Righteous Gelato, but not now! I placed an order for Thanksgiving on Friday evening, and was hoping it would be packed up and ready for Saturday morning. However, Saturday came and went, so did Sunday and Monday (ok I understand long weekend closure), but really four days? Why wasn't it completed on Saturday -- had all day. So, this morning (Tuesday) I phoned to cancel the order, and I wasn't offered free delivery, nor a free product..nothing, just a "sorry". I first stumbled onto Fiasco by accident when my fiance and I were looking for a healthy dessert that met certain dietary restrictions. The restaurant produced small snack sized containers of Fiasco Gelato which we were pleased to learn was also local! It was delicious! Not long after I stumbled into one of their food trucks at a festival and I eagerly submitted my taste buds to it's yummy goodness! Seems like Fiasco has really picked up since, I've seen it at Co-op and Planet Organic which is very cool! Usually if I'm craving it I'll make the effort to grab it right from the HQ though! Luckily it's not too far from my work, but it might be a tad off the beaten path for others (NE off Memorial and Barlow). Small little operation with a quaint store display and fixtures; nothing over the top, very boutique'esk. Among the front end sales area you'll see the employees hard at work on the computers and the actual magic of making it appears to happen in the back, it would be cool to see this sometime. The product itself is the really gem, it's so tasty and delicious and the nutritional content is quite reasonable for this quite of product. It's awesome that they use so many fresh ingredients! Also the flavors and options are always changing and they do an amazing job catering to the season. For instance I just had a mason jar of their "Mini Egg" for Easter, mmm! This place is cute and very easy to drive to. Tons of parking make it convenient. The gelato is fantastic and they are a B-Corp, which is something I will happily support with my wallet. We had single scoops of the Cappuccino and the Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter. The Chocolate one needed way more peanut to balance out the richness, but it was fantastic nonetheless. I made these treat last long by having it in a cooler before heading home as I love this brand of gelato. I love raspberry gelato and I eat a lot of ice cream. This is actually one of the best raspberry gelato cause they have natural lime. It's very smooth. I can't say anything bad about Fiasco. Their gelato is amazing and I have never been disappointed. The staff there is always super friendly and converses with you. One of the first times I went in and asked what he would recommend. He took his time and tried to figure out what I would like and gave us some samples to get a feel of the flavours. I just love that it wasn't a rushed atmosphere and how patient and kind the staff are. While I have gotten gelato at 8:00 AM there aren't many breakfast food options. I know that may not be the feel they're going for but, It would definitely make me more of a regular rather than once in awhile for a treat. read more

This is seriously the best gelato in town. I walked in and they have so many flavours to choose from and it's so rich in flavour I have never had anything like it. I love the large selections because you can mix and match I suggest sharing a large since the smalls are very small and maybe a few bites worth. It is pretty decent price and they offer free samples so if you are unsure of what to get they have the ability to let you choose before you buy. Fiasco gelato is the absolute best dessert money can buy. Their sea salt caramel gelato is absolutely to die for, and the mint staciatella is my favorite mint/chocolate combo. Hidden Next to a dairy plant, Is the Most amazing gelato place in all of Calgary. Beautiful store front; roomy yet simply furnished. But its all about the gelato, and they do not disapoint. So many flavors and so many sample spoons. I got some Elvis (peanut butter, banana and bacon!) very yum. They're changing to fall hours soon so maybe call first to see if they're open.
