I've reviewed several branches of Menchies from BC, and my love for Menchies definitely does not change here in Alberta! Menchies is my absolute favorite place to get my dose of Froyo! The customer service is definitely not as good as the locations in Vancouver, but still friendly enough! They have many selections of Froyo flavours for you to enjoy! I would give zero stars for service if I could. The lady working today Oct 6th around 3pm was the worst. This company's business model is based around smiles and she was so unpleasant, rude and I think she forgets that she works Ina customer facing business that caters to people including children self serving yogurt. We are long time Menchie supporters and have frequently visited the Northland and Crowfoot locations (when it was open). We recently went in for a treat after a long time away and the prices was crazy for what you get and the texture of the yogurt wasnt creamy. They were more like sorbet which I'm assuming is a cost cutting effort of adjusting the mix with an emphasis on more water. Overall we were very disappointed. This cute little froyo place is right across from the church where I play at; our son has been begging hubby and me to come here for a while--sooo... here we are! When you first walk in, you can't help noticing all the pictures of the Hollywood stars that have been to the Menchie's stores all across North America. Cool! We moved towards the left side of the room and worked our way around in a clockwise direction: first, we took fairly large paper bowls(you can also choose a waffle cone inside the bowl for an extra $1.00) and then selected our flavour(s) of froyo(chocolate, pistachio, vanilla, mocha chocolate, creme brulee, blueberry, pineapple sorbet, honeydew, red velvet, Creamsicle). Finally, you can choose from a variety of dry(Skitttles, macaroons, rosebuds, toasted coconut, gummi worms...) to fresh fruit toppings(strawberry tapioca pearls, pitted cherries, strawberries, pineapple chunks). There are also different kinds of syrups available(chocolate, strawberry, caramel, and pineapple). Oh, and there are little containers available for you to sample the froyo before you buy... My son combined three flavours of froyo(pineapple sorbet, creme brulee, red velvet) and piled it high with gummies and Cola bottles. Hmmm..., not something I'd like to taste... Hubby(pistachio) and I(creme brulee, fresh strawberries, toasted coconut) were more conservative. Yum! My creme brulee froyo was so creamy and meltingly smooth(without being overpoweringly sweet) that I forgot I was eating frozen yogurt. ;) I had a taste of the pistachio froyo and it was quite delicious as well. The space was clean and bright, and well-maintained. I appreciated the great variety of candies and other goodies available to put onto the frozen yogurt. The clerk there was patient with me (more about that later) and I appreciated her taking the time to explain how it all worked. My two daughters and I got our yogurt and candies (and, yes, they were tasty) and then it came time to pay. $38! For three yogurts! I was stunned. Flummoxed, even. In fact, I was so stonkered that I screwed up using the debit card machine three times. I still can't fathom why the bill was so much. Anyhow, I tried not to make it the employee's problem--it's not her fault if the prices are so extreme. But I think I did kind of bellow at her. She tried to hand me a card to get 15% off my next visit, but I told her she could keep it, we wouldn't be back. And we won't. read more

My family and I have been going here once a week, and we keep coming back. Lots of flavors to choose from! And lots of toppings!! The staff is super friendly and greets you as soon as you enter the door. The manage is super friendly as well and remembers me every time my family and I come. Very efficient service. No wait. The best thing is they are generous with their small cups and would even offer it freely. Compare to tutti fruitti were they hide their cups out of sight so customers don't ask. Meeeeeeeeenchie's! I heart you. Menchie's is located on Northland Drive in the NW , across the street from Walmart in a strip mall area. Parking is great because they share a large lot. Menchie's mission statement is "we make you smile" and they definitely live up to their statement. When you enter, you can't help but smile!!! The décor is super cute, little frozen yogurt with a smiley face, pictures of celebrities at Menchie's all over and of course the people who work there are very welcoming and happy. If you don't know how menchie's works, I will tell you. You grab a cup or waffle bowl, proceed to the self serve stations, read the flavors and if you want to sample, they have a tray of small sampler cups. If you're anything like me and like to sample everything....then do it!!! They're not watching or hovering over you. You can almost get full from all the sampling you can do (well when I do it..hehehe). After you choose your flavor(s), you proceed to the large array of toppings....sprinkles, nuts, cereal, clodhoppers, chocolate, candies, brownies, nanaimo bars, more chocolate, more candy, and fruit!!!! You can also choose to top it all off with some sauces (chocolate, reese, strawberry, caramel...). You then go to the front counter where they weight your froyo and you pay! (55 cent per ounce) The first time I came here, I got a little too excited and got pretty much every flavor in my cup. BIG MISTAKE. All the flavors melt together and it's just meh. Now I either go with fruity flavors or chocolaty/plain flavors. I really like topping my froyo with candies but they get super hard so beware! They have a cute seating area inside and in the summer they have a couple tables outside and also a little seating area just a few steps away, it's a public area so anyone can sit there. I would 100% with a smile recommend Menchie's to ANYONE. It's the go-to froyo place!! I especially love it because I can sample however much I want.... Checked out the Menchie's in Airdrie earlier this year and loved it. Discovered a couple months ago this store was going to be opening soon in Northland and we eagerly anticipated their opening. While it's much smaller than Airdrie, does not have near as many options or much room to move, it still delivers in quality and content. The whole froyo rage right now reminds me of the yogen fruz craze back in the 90's. Great place to stop in and treat yourself or your family with a healthy alternative to ice cream....just be prepared for a line up and squishy environment! read more

Love this place! As far as frozen yogurt places go I like Menchie's the best! Their flavors change quite often, they have lots of toppings to add on and the peanut butter sauce is to die for. You can sample the different flavors by yourself. They also offer waffles, both the regular and with cinnamon. They have a reward program, based on the amount of money you spend you get points which turn into cash again, to be spend at Menchie's. Got a few free ones so far. It's a do it yourself place, just get everything you want and you pay according to the weight. read more

I've only had pistachio, topped with shredded toasted coconut, slivered cashews, white chocolate, brownie bits, and sliced strawberries, but this first experience now has me eager to try other combinations. This location opened in April 2013, taking over a space formerly occupied by a Great Canadian Bagel franchise I never visited. The options are endless, the yogurt is delicious, toppings and plentiful, but be prepared for sticker shock when you hit the till! 4 cups; me, hubs, and 2 kids was $26. Yes the kids went a little nuts with the toppings, but it was really only about half a cup per person and me and hubs didn't add much of anything except for the coconut and pecans. I will probably go back with my girls but too fancy for the little ones and they will go overboard with the toppings ranging from cookie dough to blue whales. Go if its a couple of responsible adults who can say no to adding a crazy amount of toppings. If the little ones are craving ice cream, take them to Rotten Ronnie's, they won't notice the difference between a luxury frozen yogurt and plain old soft serve- trust me on this one, at $6 per serving, they won't be able to finish their cup at Menchie's. read more

This is an interesting review. I'm not even sure if I'm ok with giving 4 stars. To start out, we arrive on Monday, it was busy but not too busy. I wanted to see which flavors they had so I wasn't at the front standing there looking like a deer in headlights. The worker "matter of factly" asked if I had been here before, and told me I wasn't allowed to stand where I was. Bite me. I'm a paying customer and I'm not blocking anyone. Selection is great, way better than Tutti Frutti, and they do have parking as you're not on 17th basically. So there is a plus. And you can sample flavors so you know what you're getting into before committing to a whole bowl. I wanted pineapple and they were out. So that disappointed me. And I have now learnt to be very very selective in what I put in my fro yo as skittles freeze and will crack your teeth. So now I have an emergency dentist appt to deal with. I'm sure we'll come back, but I will only put fruit in my fro yo and will act like a deer in headlights as you're not allowed to pre-plan your flavor selections. read more

I have been going to this Menchie's every 2-3 weeks for over a year now, and I've loved every drive up. The shop is owned by a lovely couple, they go above and beyond to make clients happy. They have way more toppings than anywhere else in the city, they spend the money to make sure there's something for everyone. The yogurt selection is mind blowing, they always have something delicious ready for when we walk in. I've never been disappointed with anything whatsoever and for going that often it's a feat and a half! Everything they serve is delicious, fresh, and clean. They do so much cleaning nightly and when I show up I always have a smile on my face. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a clean, welcoming establishment with amazing food! read more

Munchies's is not really a ground breaking concept. It's kind of like the former Spoon Me from Kensignton and I've seen the concept around other cities as I've roamed. That being said, it's a great froyo option in the nw. Especially if you're not interested in just fruit. Actually it's probably better to go else where if you are just after fruit but I personally like the mix of "bad for you" toppings on a "reasonable" frozen treat. Marble slab is delicious but swings a little far to the "omg, I can't believe I just ate that" while some other froyo might not satisfy an intense need for a treat. The reception of this location has been amazing. Quite late on a weeknight and there is a line out the door and around the store (30+ people?) They NEVER have their frequent buyer cards and seem to be always sold out of promo stuff. Either they are struggling to manage the location or they are slammed all the time and I'm guessing it's mostly the later. The staff is not the best but as long as they stay out of your way it's a very brief interaction anyway. I really dislike the size of the containers... because they make you over serve yourself. A reasonable serving looks so pathetic in the bowl. But I guess they do that on purpose as it's based on weight but it's evil food marketing type stuff at work there. the place is a bit expensive but if you watch your pouring you'll get out with a nice treat that won't be too hurtful to your waistline or pocket book. read more

Personally, I liked Menchie's more than my experience at Tutti Frutti!! First of all - LOVE the new location. Super close to my house, I don't have to drive downtown and find parking here. Score! We went around 9PM and it was PACKED. I LOVED the variety of yogurt (something I felt Tutti Frutti lacked) and the fact you were able to sample each kind with a small sample cup. I ended up getting the Watermelon Tart (so yum) and the Orange Creamsicle. Delish! I also love the amount of toppings, sour keys are the way to my heart! Since it's so close, super tasty, and not that expensive (I FILLED mine to the brim and it was less than $10 for two cups), this is now my go-to dessert stop in the NW! read more

Been to menchies a lot, my best friend showed it to me! It charges you by weight and the check out is fast, and very accessible by transit. Sometimes I even get some and eat while waiting for the bus :) My favorite time is when I went with my boyfriend and I got chocolate flavors and he got fruity ones, there was a chalk board we could draw on it and we also received free stickers! :) Froyo did not taste like froyo more like smooth yummy ice cream :) I will go here again and again! read more

This is a great place for frozen yogurt. The selection is among the best I've seen in Calgary and there are unlimited sample cups. On Wednesday evenings (I can't recall the exact hours), they have a special deal that allows you to fill your cup to the brim for $6 regardless of weight. If you're not in the mood for frozen yogurt, they also have bags for candy which are charged by weight. My only real qualm is that they only have orange flavoured mochi/tteok as opposed to the regular kind. read more

Yummy!!! What a treat!! We ended up here just because we were in a park close by and googled ice cream shops so decided to try it and never heard of it before but thought the other reviews we read were quite positive! I felt like a kid in a candy store!!! When you arrive you pick a cup and do whatever make you well - happy! They have about 20 flavours of frozen yogurt, about 60 types of toppings and 4 types of syrups. I tried 6 different types of frozen yogurt all mixed in 1 cup, yes I went overboard. Then the toppings OMG candy overload, I'll start my new diet tomorrow. There's an excellent selection of healthy choices for when I return to eat better next time. Can't wait to go back as they even have a rewards program after you spend $50 you get $5 off which works out to 10% but hey what the hey I'll take it as I know I'll use that up in no time. We hosted our daughter's birthday party at Menchies. I have to say, it was amazing!! The manager was on top of every detail- excellent communication, even with last minute RSVPs and cancelations. I usually get stressed out during the party. However, this was the first party we ever had where my husband and I didn't have to do anything. The staff entertained the kids, ordered the pizza and even served the pizza and juice boxes to the kids. Menchies Northland had the food and drinks on hand so we didn't have to bring anything in. The venue was nicely decorated with balloons and birthday signs for my daughter. The shop doesn't actually open to the public until noon but their parties start at 11:00am. Therefore, we had the whole shop to ourselves. This made my daughter feel extra special. The event was so well organized that my husband and I left and sat at a Starbucks. We had never felt so relaxed!!! I highly recommend booking a party at the Northland Menchie's. read more
