A place for delicious food and good conversation. Delicious "soups" which are actually whole meals (e.f. Chicken dumpling soup also includes carrots, celery, fresh chives and thyme leaves, lots of chicken in a deep bowl with a side of toasted sour dough brushed with olive oil ); amazing salads and sandwiches (a veg banh mi to die for); many desserts and cookies; an espresso bar. On a whim, I decided to break out of my boring yet comfortable routine of going to the usual lunch places around work, and ventured on the T to Riffrulo. Cute, modern inside, swanky sofa as you can see from the picture. The two ladies at the counter were actually nice (I read on Yelp about rude waitstaff), and ordered the salmon burger. The young lady working there verified it was very good which is always comforting to hear when you are trying something new. It took about 10-15 minutes. They offered me a bag and I ate my sandwich at Emerson Gardens just a 6-8 min walk away. It was tasty, a bit messy though, wish I had remembered napkins, but it hit the spot. Didn't come with any sides. A bit expensive, like $10-11. I'll try this place again, next time for breakfast which looks more interesting... I'll update accordingly read more

Great brunch and lunch. Good selection of takeout options and friendly staff. A real community gathering place!

As a home cook and former food-server at many restaurants in Boston, I almost always prefer to eat at home and go to restaurants only when I want to focus on my dining companions and not deal with cleaning up. That being said, Rifrullo is a breath of fresh, delicious air, unique for its ambience, its cleanliness -- before and during COVID -- the painstakingly assembled menu and, of course, for its fresh, healthy, tasty food. I've not tried too many items on the menu but the ones I've consumed have all been stellar, with clean, distinct tastes and components. The lasagne bolognese -- which comes frozen to go -- is 100% inspired and swoon-worthy. Calling it lasagne is something of a misnomer, as it feels more like biting into a delicious tender cloud. During the pandemic, the ordering and pickup procedures were quickly created and any wrinkles promptly smoothed out. Colleen's commitment to her suppliers, her workers and her customers is crystal clear and I was happy to venture out to support her supporting others. I will keep coming back! read more

What a piece of garbage. Imagine being lactose intolerant and explicitly saying no cheese. Then waiting 45 minutes to 1 hour for someone to bring out a sandwich labeled "NO CHEESE." Lo and behold, the sandwich is filled with cheese. Cannot fathom read more

According to the Boston Globe, this is a BYOB (no corkage): "James Beard Award winner Colleen Suhanosky is at the helm of Rifrullo, a Brookline cafe open for breakfast and lunch. That means day drinking is the move here -- bring in beer to accompany your Italian tuna sandwich or lamb burger, or even a bottle of bubbly to enjoy with the restaurant's all-day brunch served on the weekends. Sparkling wine with huevos rancheros? We're in." read more

Situated in a vibrant neighborhood this low key but hip-stery cafe provides some fine selection of healthy breakfast choices. I was here last weekend and got to order the "Breakfast salad" made of organic greens, two poached eggs and smoky bacon and the "Sweet Potato Hash", which is a combo of sunny-side duck eggs, turkey sausage and garlic scape chimichurri. Their sweet potatoes are a delight. Even after having all that I couldn't stop myself from ordering more, so I went ahead and got the "Turkish Quinoa Bowl", which had this perfect blend of yogurt and poached egg soaking up the quinoa. The quantity was good and I think the slow cooked eggs did the trick. read more

Charming atmosphere and delicious food. Their environmentally responsible practices are a huge plus!! :)

We moved right around the corner and came in for lunch while we were unpacking. Well at first the longish wait was a bit annoying (maybe around 20 minutes?) as we are starving. But it's worth the wait!! I think our starvation was more the key issue of annoyance than the fact they were preparing our food ...it's not like they have an army in their small kitchen... :-P This place is definitey hispter. It's hard to get a seat so if you want to eat here you may have to wait. Everything is fresh. Everyone is nice. I got the turkey club. One of the best I've had! The bread tasted home made. The turkey was flavorful (not common in most turkey sandwiches). The bacon was crispy. I loved the fig mayo! My husband got a lunch special (not normally on the menu): a sausage and peppers sandwich. I can't go too much into detail about how his tasted since I don't eat sausage. But he very much enjoyed it. The food is a bit pricey but it is very good! I guess for the summer they aren't open for dinner. I look forward to trying their dinner menu! We will be back! read more

Quaint little cafe in Brookline. They look like they have a really good breakfast menu, although I didn't try anything. I just had a small latte which was good! Rifrullo is a cute place to have some coffee and study a bit! Tip: free WiFi! read more

This place is LEGIT. Offers a variety of freshly baked pastries and cookies that are all made with healthy (many even paleo or GF) ingredients. Even using healthier ingredients, these baked goods still taste like they were made in France with nothing but butter and flour. The paleo cookie is a standout. Yes their coffee/espresso drinks are just OK, but don't complain about it. That'd be like going to Peter Luger's steakhouse and complaining about the fish. read more

This place takes longer than the DMV. We always place our order in advance and it is never ready when we arrive. We always end up waiting at least another 30 minutes for a sandwich. There is no sense of urgency in this establishment. This cafe does have a lot of potential, but the service is unacceptable. Don't waste your time. read more

Came to this hole-the-wall cafe in Brookline on a Saturday morning and it's literally tucked away into this small corner on Cypress St just off of Route 9. There's not much seating inside, but if you can find some, then it is a nice bright place to come and study or do work. They have some unique and artistic decor inside and their menu is full of all sorts of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner (or if you just want something to drink!). The morning my girlfriend and I came we got: -Yogurt Bowl: homemade, plain yogurt with fresh seasonal fruits and you can add homemade granola for $1.50. Very very refreshing and light for an early morning, but it was a bit pricey (~$5.50 without the granola). -Matcha Latte: great matcha flavor and texture, but definitely wasn't as sweet as it could be - had to add some brown sugar cubes to sweeten it a bit, but definitely still a quality drink. Overall, very pleasant atmosphere to come and study with free wifi. I'll definitely be back to try out some of their other menu options especially since it's so close to me :) read more

I actually tried out this cafe through the Too Good To Go app which helps prevent food waste by giving restaurants and cafes an outlet to sell leftovers from the days prior to people on the app for a discounted rate. I got a mystery bag, so I had no idea what I would be getting. I ended up getting 4 delicious pastries, I think a whole wheat scone, 2 cranberry/walnut/chocolate chip cookies, and a shortbread cookie. Each was super yummy and pretty unique in flavor in my opinion. While I was there, I ordered an iced oat milk latte which came out quickly and in a compostable cup (!!). My coffee wasn't cheap (almost $6), but I was more than happy to support this woman owned and led small business that has plenty of vegan options. The staff was friendly and there was multiple indoor and outdoor seating options. This place just feels authentic. And real. I will one hundred percent return! read more

Went here for the first time today and it has become one of my favorite places! Sadly, though they will not have the most delicious pear tart that I have ever had after tomorrow, but it makes me even more excited to try more of their desserts. They have food options for those who are vegetarian, gluten free, keto, and anyone who loves good food. Everyone working was so kind, sweet, and considerate. I am so excited to go here again and enjoy all the delicious foods they have to offer. I would add a picture but ate everything I got there so I hope that gives a better idea of how I really feel about this place read more

A delightful find in that neighborhood. My wife and I went there for breakfast this morning for the first time and were delighted at the atmosphere, food, and style. She had a fruittata that she loved and I had an excellent brioche. We felt like we were in a wonderful little French cafe and felt like we were very far from home. We will certainly be back. read more

My roommates and I came here for brunch on Sunday and really liked it! I ordered the Heath street which was an avocado toast and a matcha latte. The toast was delicious and very flavorful. The matcha latte was disappointing unfortunately. Did not taste like matcha and had a white, watery milk consistency. Would not order that again. My friends had the coconut muesli and butternut squash salad which they really enjoyed! Overall a cute neighborhood place for brunch! Also must try the kale chips! read more

This is, by far the best intimate place to meet others for breakfast! The breakfast salad and the breakfast tacos were outstanding! The quality of ingredients is outstanding. Great little cafe. The decor was really nice. Lots of natural light really ties together the fresh, hipster vibe. Everything on the menu was pretty healthy, which made me feel absolutely no guilt about ordering anything. My friend was the one to recommend it, and she loves the food here. We ordered in the Lemon Pudding Cake first. It was really simple looking, and it was bursting with lemon flavor. You can actually see the little strands of lemon zest in the cake. It was a little sweet, but that didn't stop us from finishing it. Also, it's really dense, so if you're looking for a lighter treat, I'd get something else. I got the Our Own Turkey Club Sandwich and my friend got The Other Kale Salad. The sandwich was really good: the bread was toasted, but had a great texture to complement the turkey, the spinach and the arugula. The mayo was sweet, which was a welcome addition, along with the bacon, of course. My only problem with it is that there was a huge amount of turkey all piled up in the center. I know it's pretty common, but it's not my particular cup of tea, so I moved it around and left some uneaten. Overall, it was really filling, but it was light and left me refreshed. My friend said the salad was great, but it was a little too lemony for her taste. She's been here before, and she recommends the Chickpea Hummus Sandwich (I've never tried it). An additional bonus was that they have a compost bin! I think that's awesome since any food scraps don't have to go to waste! Healthy eating isn't usually go-to, but I'd definitely recommend this place. read more

This is a neighborhood favorite. I come for brunch often and I even had my bridal shower here. Food is fresh and always delicious, and I love how this cafe embodies Brookline. The Cypress sandwich or the Heath (avocado toast, add bacon!) is always a go-to for me. read more

Did you know that Rifrullo isn't open for dinner, but they DO host private dinner parties? I didn't even know this cafe existed (despite having driven by it a gazillion times) until I was searching for a private dining room for a small 70th birthday party and a friend recommended it. The owner, Colleen, is so lovely, easy to work with, and makes AMAZING food. I did stop by in the weeks before our party and tried both the Cypress sandwich and the BLT (my fiancee had the chicken parm) and they were all great! Our private dinner for a group of 15 was exactly what we wanted. Colleen proposed a menu via email and was completely open to feedback and dealing with allergies/preferences. It was BYOB (which was perfect for us), and she also let us bring our own dessert (though she would have made great ones included in the price), and it was just such a lovely and perfect evening. They lit candles, let us put up decorations, and it was so private and special. The food was AMAZING. I cannot recommend Rifrullo high enough, for a casual breakfast/lunch or coffee stop, but ESPECIALLY for private events. read more

Wanted to enjoy it more since a friend was desperate to introduce me. Pros: really tasty food although the sandwich I got was almost impossible to eat without wearing; and the chocolate cake slice that I shared was amazingly moist. It really was a highlight, esp. since I'm not drawn to all things chocolate. I'd go back just for another slice. Cons: seating is a jostle when it's busy. The sofa doesn't make any sense if you have to lean over the low table to eat. Conversely, the shared table in the middle is so tall and the chairs not-so-tall that for someone coming in at 5'3", my chin was just above my food. Awkward. It might have been different sitting at the individual tables? But I was surprised at the staff behind the counter. I wasn't greeted. There was no smile. In fact, it felt very chilly. I felt like I was interrupting them. I mentioned this to my lunch companion who told me one of the staff was actually the owner, so I was even more surprised. I guess I'd round up to 3.5... read more

What a sweet little neighborhood spot! The menu is small and somewhat limited but what they make is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. They also have gray coffee and little bakery items and the decor is just so inviting. I ate here and I will never eat here again. I think it is way overpriced. The owner is very thin and does not really make food for people that are weight conscious. I ordered an eggplant sandwich. The eggplant was about 1/8 of an inch thick and the bread was 3 inches thick on each side. read more

The cafe is small, with only a communal table, 3 other tables, and a short bar area with stools. It's a cute little setup with the 70s-style pink couch and little knickknacks decorating the intimate space. I was the first patron of the day when I arrived at 8:30am on Saturday for breakfast, and immediately chose a seat by the windows. Starting at around 9, a stream of couples and mothers with their babies came in, and the cafe was quickly buzzing with activity. This is definitely a popular neighborhood cafe for families. For breakfast, I ordered a yogurt bowl and soy matcha latte. The homemade yogurt is liquidy and rather bland; it lacks a tangy flavour. However, I was pleased with the generous fruit toppings, which consisted of fresh pomegranate seeds, banana slices, orange sections, and pineapple slivers. Their matcha latte was much too weak. The Cypress is a popular order, and is perhaps one of their better breakfast dishes. Overall, I was unimpressed with the food; but, I will definitely give it a another try. The staff here are very friendly, and it's a lovely space to read or catch up with friends. read more

Really good vibe but like a lot of reviewers, I agree that it's still overpriced. The food is simply not good. It's flavorless and poorly presented. I've been here about three times and it's always the same. I can have FAR better (not browned; not butchered and inconsistently mushy; not bathed in olive oil) avocado toast at home and it wouldn't cost me any where near $5. But I give it three stars as opposed to two because I like the small portion size and the casual, trendy feel of it that, despite the food, makes me consider going back. read more

I want to like this place because it's in my neighborhood and I've been whining about no nice breakfast places in Brookline. This is a 100% ladies' joint with an overly precious shabby chic meets industrial farmhouse decor. A smoothie is $7.50. Lots of old people loitering about. After trying breakfast, I didn't go back for lunch or dinner. It's just too expensive and trendy for me i guess. I had the absolute best breakfast at Rifrullo. The Breakfast Salad is such a healthy, delicious meal that I wish I could make for myself every day. The poached eggs were perfect, the spinach was darkest green, nice beautiful leaves that I dream of (sooo far from the boring and thin little leaves in the bagged baby spinach at the big box store), and the bacon truly awesome. Put that all together in a bowl with some vinaigrette and you get the best breakfast that leaves you full and feeling good about yourself. I've had their breakfast sandwich in the past, which was also quite good, and my husband enjoys the hash. Spend a little extra at Rifrullo and have an amazing breakfast. read more
