Lemon cake

I enjoyed a late Sunday morning visit to this café. The hot chocolate was rich and tasted like real chocolate compared to more sweet/milky varieties. There are several tables for those dining in. There was a mix of people socializing and working here. Medium noise level. The wait wasn't too long for food and drinks. There is ample, free street parking within the block.

Turkey Sandwich

I really like that the menu is constantly changing and the food is always well-crafted and uniquely thoughtful. For example, a unique element in the turkey sandwich was sliced apples. I don't usually find apples in sandwiches but Rifrullo delivered. In general, the meals here are balanced, healthy and yummy. The staff is also very kind and accommodating. The seating is first come first serve so there's no guarantee you will have a seat, but hopefully you get lucky when you go ;) Definitely recommend.

Frittata

Good food and pretty cozy. Got a frittata and it was quite moist and flavorful! Loved the old school plates as well. Also really liked the balance with the salad. Was surprisingly busy on a weekday, so it was a bit louder than I thought it would be

We popped into this cute cafe after a visit to the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic site. The cafe has interesting sandwiches and lunch items, some baked goods and classic cafe drinks. We got the Cubano, salmon burger, chia ginger lemonade and a couple of cookies. Friendly service, great food and drinks. This was a nice find!

Delicious blueberry muffin

Rifrullo turned a bad morning into an amazing day! The food was tasty and ambiance was inviting, tranquil and appealing to the eye. The dining area is cozy with vintage/farm style furniture. We had "The Cypress" breakfast sandwich, huevos rancheros and pastries. All were made to perfection. I had the most incredible blueberry muffin. I got one to go. The service was friendly and quick. Totally recommend Rifrullo.

I rarely give 1-star reviews, but I sadly have to for Rifrullo. We went there for brunch on a Saturday. There was a long line to order, and there was no available seating except for outside. There were people milling about who seemed to have just ordered a coffee and were taking up seats. Second, we ordered two of their breakfast sandwiches, and requested that one was without cheese. We got them to-go because there was no seating. They took a long time (20 mins) to make the sandwiches, as they only have 1 cook. The cook wasn't wearing gloves. When we got home, we found that the sandwich labeled as "no cheese" had cheese inside! My fiance absolutely abhors cheese and this ruined his day. It was also really expensive for what you get. In all, bad service, no seating room, bad food.

Pastry selection

Hidden gem in Brookline. Close by to the Reservoir to enjoy a walk with pastries and coffee in hand. Owner is a James Beard winner. Pastry selection is incredible and varies day by day with a unique spin. Generally, enjoyed the chocolate quinoa cake which emulated a true decadent chocolate cake well enough that I likely couldn't discern the difference. Have tried the banana bread, cookies, and brownies without any disappointment. The pastries are flavorful without ever being overly sweet. Interesting selection of various pastries that will definitely be unique relative to the average bakery in Boston. Coffee/lattes are well made with homemade and seasonal syrups. Quaint ambiance with some seating, perfect for working, meeting with friends or for dates. Staff is very friendly and service is expedient. Personally, I've been disappointed with the meals. I tried the French toast and felt the fresh fruit was lacking and didn't detect any of it the custard. The breakfast sandwich was also underwhelming. Would stick with coffee/pastries. It's a little pricey but on par with Boston cafes and better than the chains.

This place is a yummy little breakfast and lunch and treat place. Great cappuccinos and yummy pastries and cookies too! The ambience is sweet and chill and the food is tasty and fresh farm to table -ish. Very good service from sweet and kind people. Just a yummy chill hang. We are the French toast abs huevos rancheros. Yum yum. Definitely worth a visit.

The cafe is small but seems spacious inside. There is a variety of unique and different-sized tables and furniture. It's a good place for a friend catch-up or business acquaintance meeting! The coffee is definitely strong, I feel wired shortly after a third of a cup of drip coffee. Most of all the barista lady is very warm and welcoming. I had the drip coffee and the salty oats. The oats smell very fragrant.

Turkey club

I came in here for lunch today when I was walking past and got intrigued. Was not disappointed. The inside is adorable, good seating with tables and chairs, even a pink couch! They had all the fancy drinks offered like matcha, chai, etc. and normal coffee. A lot of the baked goods said gf so if you have a gluten intolerance this is a good spot. The lunch menu had sandwiches, salads, and wraps. They also had smoothies and breakfast. So much I wanted to try but I ended up getting the turkey club which was delicious. It had a really good sauce and some greens to add a little nutrients which I love. They had vegetarian options as well. So if you have dietary restrictions it's a good place to go too. Will be coming back!

Simple but spectacular grilled cheese sandwich - best one I've had in many years. And a great value at just $5.

Came to Esmai's for an early dinner with my boyfriend and sat on the outdoor rooftop (we made a…read morereservation). The Highlights: Blush Hour cocktail & Shrimp baos: Easily a 10/10! Absolute must-trys. Calamari: Pretty good, but the sauce really made the dish. The Misses: The Pasta (2/10): Neither of us enjoyed this. The sauce was very watery and lacked flavor--it seemed like it relied on meat juices for flavor, but it just didn't work. Smash Burger: Just an average burger. Hard to mess up, but nothing to write home about. Vibe & Service: The rooftop ambience was nice with staff playing music on a speaker. Wait-staff were very attentive! A huge plus was the owner coming out to check on tables and joke around with guests! Note on space: Upstairs indoor seating seems okay for private events (there was a bridal shower happening while we were there), and downstairs has a classic sit-down/bar feel. Verdict: Total came out to $171 (including tip) for 4 drinks, calamari, baos, pasta, and a burger. If we return, we'd definitely stick to drinks, shrimp baos, and hanging out downstairs!

From just looking inside it looks like a very nice American bar and restaurant. For a space in Coolidge corner, it is definitely one of the biggest restaurants in the area since FuGakyu is closed (The OG ). It has two floors as well as a patio space they recently opened. This is an asian fusion restaurant with more emphasis on the americanized side if that makes sense? The patio area was so nice especially once it cools down in the evening with a nice view of brookline. The staff were great at bringing everything and making the food and drinks the focus rather than themselves. The menu is kind of small but mighty with a lot of delicious options. You can choose from salad to a ban mih to pasta to curry to a Hawaiian dish, loco moco! The drinks, though pretty small in size, are all really interesting combos. I got the extra 99 which had scallion, oolong and szechuan pepper infused oil. It was such an interesting savory taste.. One of my friends said it reminded her of the smell of ramen. The Loco moco was delicious. I'm not sure why I thought it would be a burger but it essentially was but just swap the buns for rice. I'm not a fan of egg but it was perfectly balanced with the egg and beef patty. They do have a couple of GF options YAY but apart from the two entree items on their brunch menu it's essentially veggies, fruit and salad. The brunch menu looks delicious so I would definitely come back to try it out. $$ Food 8 Atmosphere 8 Service 7 Loco Moco Extra 99 Blush hour Chateau spritz Summer thyme You can sip with is

Their displays care charming and handwritten, giving the vibe of a mom and pop coffee shop. Which... I think they are! Not a chain as far as I can tell. When I went up to the counter, it took a moment to get service because the clerk was texting, but she put down her phone within a few seconds to take care of our order. Unfortunately, frequent table maintenance doesn't happen often here, so our table required a bit of TLC. And while it's not the staff's fault, the two people eating at the table next to us left quite a mess on the seat and table. However, the staff quickly took care of it when asked. My iced coffee with one pump of chocolate was delicious, but most of the chocolate pooled on the bottom because it wasn't stirred properly when made, meaning I had to do most of the work myself. Overall, I love the vibe of this place, but a few tweaks could make the food and service truly exceptional!

What an improvement over the Summer staff. The entryway line is still a mass of confusion. But settles itself with no staff directions to step aside or firm a line. Maybe gives them a break with the ordering customers shuffling with waiting ones. Really the only thing that needs improvement are the coffee lid fitting the cups. Their purchase of cheap hot cup lids is a constant problem. You can't walk 20feet without liquid oozing out of some misfit edge. No matter how many times you remove and replace the cover, it leaks out the side of the cup. Like a drip in a kitchen sink faucet that needs a washer. Always a mess and hand wash after.
