When I arrived, I was told that the one item showing as "in stock" was actually a returned unit that was defective and could not be sold. If the item was defective and unavailable for purchase, why was it being counted as available inventory on the website?

One of my favorite yarn stores and the store that is local to my town is Nancy O. It's not just a yarn store and tries to provide something for everyone. Nancy truly caters to a diverse clientele which is important for a small business owner. It's a great place for yarn purchases for the yarn addict and Nancy O has also created her own line of yarn which is super soft. Absolutely amazing experience at this store. Went in to get some running shoes that would work for someone that does minimal distance and other types of exercise as well as something that will help my shin splints. I spent about 45 minutes with Sophie, who was an absolute doll. She took the time to find the right size for me and also took a scan of my feet and observed my walking and running patterns to find the best sneaker for me. She had me try on about 6 pairs of shoes and then helped me eliminate and land on an awesome pair on Mizunos that were exactly what I needed. Also found a pair of Hookas that I loved and would like to go back for. Never have had such a positive experience looking for something I am unfamiliar with. Will 150% be buying all my sneakers from RRC here on out. Special shout out to Sophie for making my visit so positive I wrote my first ever yelp review! read more

As my old exercise sneakers were past the "expiration" mileage, and my motivation factor was matching, I decided to stop by the Ridgefield Running Company and check it out. I had heard very good things from some serious runners I know, and thought I might a bit out of my league, as I do more walking and light jogging. Happily, I could not have been more wrong. I was treated very courteously and professionally from start to finish. They took the time to discuss and review my current training and what if any specific goals I had in mind. This included taking into account dominant foot size, to having me run on treadmill with video analysis. In the end I came out with a great pair of new running shoes which fit me better than any pair I have had. I highly recommend anyone no matter what level, to stop by and give them a try, I will be back in the future for sure! read more

This Sunday, I will be running my first half marathon in NYC. I started training in a pair of shoes I had laying around, not knowing any better. After a few painful runs, I was advised to get properly fitted for running shoes. From the time I walked into the store, the ladies were incredibly supportive and positive - encouraging me and telling me that I could do this! They took their time with me, trying on several pairs of shoes and letting me run on the treadmill with each one to get a feel for them. They never tried to "oversell" or push me in a certain direction. Amazing store, amazing staff and I'm so happy with the shoes I purchased. They truly made a difference in my training experience! I have already recommended this store to a teammate running with me this Sunday and I will continue to recommend them! read more

I have mixed feelings about this running shop…read more On the plus side, i generally have had good service there. Everyone has been friendly and they have a nice selection of typically popular running shoes and accessories. They also have a bit of a running community with occasional product tests/races/practice runs etc. On the other hand, they have a practice which I can only characterize as annoying but perhaps necessary from their point of view. Unlike every other running store I've ever been to, they make you get socks off the rack at their store to try on (even if you bring your own clean, washed socks). I was under the impression you had to buy the socks and that was certainly the implication when they took socks off the rack and ripped open the package. Somebody messaged me on YELP saying that is not the case but that was certainly not clear to me. Especially when they literally said to me "Don't worry, they'll be discounted" and it was not clear to me what the price was of the socks I was directed to (i later found out they were over $18 and the "discount" was about $5...so in other words, it certainly seemed like I was paying $13 just to try on shoes). Perhaps its just a sanitary thing and not an extra charge but the employees should be crystal clear about that. They were not. Perhaps a sign when you walk in would make this clear (if there was one, i did not see it) as its just casually brought up when you ask to try on shoes. At any rate, if they do charge you (or at least suggest you buy the socks discounted), I get why they do this. I mean, once you find a shoe you like, you can likely get it online cheaper and i'm sure people just come in to try stuff on and then want to leave. This would be a way to force people to pay for something. But, I like to support small and local businesses so I would not do that. However, not allowing me to wear a clean pair of socks (or even having standard "try on socks" like most stores do for customers), I feel is a bit...well..annoying.
