This store has a good selection of ski apparel and equipment but nothing that you can't find in other shops. What I was VERY disappointed with was the customer service by a woman at the counter. Not sure if she was an owner, manager or just an employee. But she made no effort to check if I could make a return for store credit a $10 pair of suspenders I purchased not realizing they were for youth. I accept half the blame for not reading the packaging, or contacting the store sooner. Their return policy is 30 days after purchase and I was 20/25 days late. I said I just wanted a store credit towards another item I knew they had but she made no effort to consult with anyone. The store was becoming crowded so I just told her to keep the suspenders. I will not shop here again over a $10 return they would not accept. read more

I had the best experience getting my boots and skis today. The boot expert, Griffin, spent so much time evaluating my feet to ensure I got the boot that was perfect for my ability and foot size and shape. Then, they baked the inner boot so it molded perfectly to my foot. The experience getting my skis was just as comprehensive and informative. I couldn't be more excited. We chose this store because it was local. The ski and boots rates were a little higher but we wanted to support our neighbors. Out of the 2 sets, 1 was obviously poorly prepared (the skis were 'sticky') and the boots were not at all the right size. The young associate who served us may be a little green, we accept that. But trying to convince me that the replacement boot is 'not too bad' does not cut it. Overall, the experience was not friendly, borderline rude. Point taken, we will invest again in our own equipment... somewhere else. read more

Cycleology is FANTASTIC. I am so grateful I found them. I was considering buying a new bike, but I know nothing about bikes and even less about what kind of bike would be right for me. I saw that they were nearby, so I just ventured in one day to take a look. I was greeted right away by an incredibly kind and patient team member, who really just asked me about why I was interested in a bike and where I saw myself riding if I got one. He made a couple of recommendations, and Matt the owner came over and let me take the bike I liked for a spin. Right away, I knew the bike I was riding was the one for me, and I took the plunge and bought it. Now, anyone can sell you a bike. But what makes Cycleology so great is the personal care they take of you AFTER you buy your bike. Matt fits the bike to you--adjusts the seat, the handlebars... every detail. He taught me how to change the tire, to swap out the inner tube if I had a flat... and so much more. They're there for you to answer your questions, to help you with gear, whatever you need. It's rare these days to get to develop a relationship with the owners and wonderful team of a store. But Cycleology is a place that wants you to be a part of their community, and I really love that. Anyway, bottom line is... if you need a bike or any bike gear or service on a bike you have, I highly recommend to stop into Cycleology for a visit. Women of Fairfield County, do you love being treated with disdain and spoken to like you're an idiot? Then you'll love Cycleology Bike & Ski. My family has gone to this store for bike repairs and tune-ups over several years, and this year rented ski packages from them for the first time. When I tried on ski boots and said they were too tight, they told me "trust us, these are your size". On our multi-day ski trip, those boots were so painfully tight I had to rent new ones on the mountain, but still had bruises that lasted for days. Today I went back into the store and nicely/politely asked for one size up. Another female customer was there for the exact same reason. Matt measured my feet and told me if anything, I needed a smaller size. I was really surprised that he didn't seem to be listening, but I repeated that I'd already worn the boots, and please, just give me one size up. His curt, almost angry response: "YOU'RE NOT LISTENING TO ME, I've been doing this for 26 years. Trust me, I know what I'm doing." One of his associates ended up going through with the rest of the fitting until I decided, my money doesn't need to support a business which such shabby customer service and apparent disdain for women. I will never go back there and will be sure to share my experience with the many families I know who ski and rent annually from Cycleology. read more

I ride my 2014 Cannondale Super Six past Cycleology Bike & Ski almost every day. Stopped in today on my daily ride to show the crew that I had a loose front fork. Before I could ask about an appointment, the mechanic asked for my bike. He took it to his stand, and proceeded to repair my fork. He handed back my bike without a charge. I understand it's COVID and we all need to be safe, but that does not excuse rudeness and a patronizing attitude. Went there for some bike related questions and was treated like a child, when I've been riding seriously for years. They accepted a repair, saying it would take 2 days. When I called back after 3 days, another person said, "Who said that? It'll take 7-10 days. We'll call you when it's ready." When I called back after 14 days and no call, another person said, "Well, did we call you?" I said I'd rather just have the bike back, but then they checked and it was already fixed. When I went to pick up the bike? They said they didn't have it, and was I sure I didn't go to a different bike store? I was so relieved to just get my bike back, and never go there again. If you are a woman, avoid this store. read more

I had driven by Cycleology every day on my way to and from work and had not yet seen the store but went in after seeing a bright yellow sign out front. The shop itself is well-organized and very clean. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Cycleology sells and rents both bicycle and ski/snowboarding equipment so my boyfriend and I went in searching for a new pair of ski boots for me. We got top-of-the-line service and decided to buy a brand new pair of mold-able Atomic ski boots, along with custom fit insoles and a great pair of ski socks. The store manager custom molded the boots to my feet and adjusted the bindings I had to the new boots. Not only that, they gave us a free gift as part of their weekend deal and entered us into a raffle for a new bicycle! The customer service in this shop is terrible and the owner, Matt is incredibly rude. I won a bike they had donated for a raffle to the Nora Pfreim breast cancer center for Yale New Haven. It was a men's bike and much too big for me. My father had stopped into the store, where he has bought skis and a bicycle in the past to ask if it can possible exchanged for an equal value bike in my size. The gentleman he spoke to said that it wouldn't be a problem. So I drove from Stamford and brought the bike with me. I walked in and was greeted by Matt, when I explained who I was and the situation he rolled his eyes and said he had no idea what bike was even donated and what raffle I was even talking about. A sales associate helped me get it out of the car and when we brought it into the store he shook his head and scoffed that the bike "was from last year" and he had no idea when they even donated the item and that I couldn't exchange it. Really? You have no idea that you donated an item from your store? He told me a raffle is a raffle and that's it, they would not exchange the item. He then barked at someone in the back room to put air in the tires for me and walked away. I have no idea where the miscommunication was, but either way being friendly and providing decent customer service should be a no brainer. I understand it may not be possible to exchange an item won in a raffle but there was zero reason to be so rude. You work in retail, which is not exactly a bustling business these days so to be treating people with such an attitude is not ok. The fact that I couldn't exchange the bike is not a big deal, what bothered me is how the owner acted like how dare I even ask, how he had no clue they even made a donation and no idea about the organization and event they donated to. Get over yourself! There are so many shops to get skis and bikes at...do yourself a favor and spend your money where people are nice and appreciate your business...it's definitely not here! **Btw the gentleman that put air in the tires for me and lowered the seat of the bike was very nice and helpful. Was recommend this shop to use for a hub rebuild. Easy drop off and great communication. Ordered parts right away and got right to work. Got it back and the bearings were so crunchy and tight they wheel wouldn't move when put in the bike. Was told "try to ride it in". Absolutely unacceptable answer. Most roadies would have ruined there chamois over this response. They said bring it back we wanna help. They refunded labor with out any hesitation (this was great on their part). I decided to go else where when the next shop found a bent axel and bearings pressed in too far and a missing spacer. Maybe the more skill mechanic passed this off maybe isn't as skilled as they say. 3 stars cause you refunded me so quickly and wanted to help fix it. Friendly helpful staff but may not be skilled in more advanced repairs as they didn't notice the bent axle and improper bearing installation and lost a part. read more

Wanted to get into mountain biking to add variety to my running. These guys fit me to bike that was perfect for me and my budget. They didn't try to oversell or up sell. They have a good group on strava which makes you feel part of the community long after you buy your bike. I'll be going back for my spring tune up. read more

I wouldn't even give this place one star. I requested a quote over the phone for truing a wheel. Owner, Matt, said 25$. I get there only for Matt to tell me it's 40$ because my carbon wheels require them to take the tire off. Shouldn't he honor what he told me on the phone? I would say about half of riders have deep carbon wheels, so this is pretty common. Either way he then proceeds to question the size of my bike which was professionally fitted, and says well that's what you get for getting a bike online. Ummm what? Very rude thing to say to a customer, just because I didn't buy a bike from him. I called Zanes and they said they would do it for $25 so I walked out. This place caters to rich people, and is not a real bike shop. There's only one mechanic who is also the owner, and no one else knows how to do basic bike repairs. I wouldn't trust my bike there, and they are only looking to sell their bikes/ skis at book value. Absolutely no deals here, no knowledge, and not friendly read more

My husband and I rented bikes here last summer for the day to explore Southport. The most upsetting thing that happened was that the store would not rent or lend us bicycle helmets to accompany the bicycles. Even though the store is full of helmets, we were told they could not be shared with us as the store's liability insurance does not cover it. Seemed pretty greedy and heartless to me. On top of that, we were asked to sign paperwork affirming that we "declined" helmets (I of course noted that the store refused to provide them to us). Since my husband was eager to ride, we did proceed despite my unease about us not having helmets. The other issue is that the bike store rented us two different types of bikes which did not match (maybe one hybrid, one non?). This proved problematic as we were riding at dramatically different speeds and could not ride together, as one generated a lot more speed than the other. It might have been the case that we were charged differently for the bikes or maybe they were the last two available (I cannot recall)-- but a good service representative would have flagged the issue for us ahead of time so that we could make an informed decision about whether it would suit us to be riding at vastly different paces. Overall, a big thumbs down and a bad feeling about a bike store that doesn't give bike helmets with its rentals. read more
