I'm from PA and was in the area visiting friends and riding some trails at Butcher Jones OHV when I had some issues with my DR650. I called several shops but was having trouble getting help. Then I called Cycle Dynamics and Steve said bring it by. He assessed my problem and ordered up parts. Steve is a very competent mechanic and will call you out for lack of maintenance which I appreciate. What a great shop! Charlie and his team are very knowledgeable and exceedingly polite. I recently had my bikes serviced there and noticed there was a bit of a slippage in the gears after servicing. They diagnosed as a kinked chain, and replace the chain at no charge. Great example of how they always go the extra mile to take care of their customers! read more

I am new to the area, and decided I wanted a bike. I knew I wanted something a little bit nicer than a Sports Authority bike, so I looked up Cycle Dynamics, and am thankful that I did. The guys here are super friendly, and did not push me to a more expensive bike, when they easily could have. They had me ride a few and talked to me how I looked on each, and felt on each. I am very happy with the bike I chose - they took the time to tune it, install a trip computer for me, and even put on my water bottle holder. They also offer free service for the first time, which is a huge plus. And, I think it's the kind of place that if something went wrong, I could easily go back and they'd help me. Charlie, the owner, is incredibly helpful and patient with regards to fitting my bike, making sure everything is sized properly, picking out shoes, helmet, etc. He doesn't want to "sell me stuff" - he wants to make sure I get the most enjoyment out of biking which I really appreciate. I don't feel rushed when I'm in the store and there is no pressure to buy stuff (which just makes me want to buy more stuff!). This is my official LBS and I look forward to going back. read more

My son went in to get ONE pedal removed - it was to tight and he couldn't get it off- and was charged $10 plus tax. This is really bad customer service. I had a crash on my mtb and broke my brake leaver replaced it with one i had laying around but i didnt have my own bleed kit shimano brakes are very simple and quick to bleed easier infact than changing a flat so i figured the guys at the lbs would help me out so i could go ride not the case not only did they not have a bleed kit to sell me they also didnt have the time to get it done that day nor were they willing to let me use the tool. Tomorrow when smart cycles in norwalk is open i know they will help me out without an issue. read more

Been going to this shop for many years now and they have serviced most of my bikes and I've even purchased a bike or two from them. That said, I will not be returning. Dropped off a bike for new cables as one of my shifter cables snapped. Figured if one was done, why chance it so I asked them to replace all four cables. I had a set of shifter cables at home, but not brakes so I left the bike with them. $125 dollars later I got my bike back...whaaat? To swap out cables...literally a 10 to 15 minute job. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give a one handed mechanic a full half hour...still thats $200 an hour for labor...when I questioned the cost, the owner tried to play it off by saying its a pandemic, everything is expensive...checking now to see if they even replaced the other cables, probably not. Love to support the LBS, but that's a two way street. For now, they can keep their snooty 'tude, I'm done with them. read more

Wonderful bike shop. The solid tire came off my shower wheelchair and they were happy to help in putting it back on. They said it might take two days if they had to order a tire but surprised me and called within two hours for me to pick it up. We had tried a bike shop in Norwalk but they wouldn't even try to fix it. Neither would a surgical supply house. Thank God for people who care and go the extra mile. They also said if my regular chair needed new tires they would be happy to order them and put them on. Bike shops charge far less than wheelchair repair places. I'm a fan!! read more

I knocked my sram red 22 front derailleur out of alignment and brought it into the shop for an adjustment. They turned it around same day at a really reasonable cost. They did a great job, shifting is super smooth, good as new! read more

Went into the store on a busy Saturday morning looking for a bicycle for my teenage daughter and was greeted by Charlie, the owner. He took the time to explain the pros and cons for many of the bikes in his store before helping my daughter test ride three different models. He never rushed us into buying anything and even talked me out of buying unnecessary gadgets on a bike rack. Even though we ended up buying another bike later in the day from one of his competitors, I feel that it is my obligation to let the world know that there are still very nice people out there that takes pride in what they are doing. My son's bike had a few cables off from a fall -- they were not broken, just needed to be placed back into proper places and adjusted. I knew it was a 5m fix. I stopped into Cycle Dynamics expecting to have to leave the bike and get a big charge... the young guy working there was very knowledgeable and showed us how to fix the bike on the spot for no charge. I gave him a tip for helping and we were on our way. Great and unexpected experience, will come back in the future! read more

I read the good reviews and I thought I would give them a try... Mistake. Brought my bike in for a spring tune-up, they were busy, I was told 10 days, long time but I get it. Everybody brings in their bike on the first sunny warm day, I was no different. I also wanted to get new tires but decided to wait till I saw how much the tune-up would be, on their suggestion. Should have known then... I call them 10 days later and am told that it will be hundreds of dollars for the tune up and another hundred for the tires. new bike territory, Whoa. So I say, no tires and forget the new cables as I get my bike tuned up at Smart Cycles for 80 bucks all in, every year and the cables are 1 year old. Still in the 200 dollar range, I tell them not to touch my bike I will pick it up. About 1/2 hour later I get a phone call from another person there saying since I am not having work done would I like them to donate my bike for me...AHHH no! don't touch it. I picked it up and bring it directly to Smart Cycles they said my bike was in fine condition tuned it for the promised eighty and I have been riding happily everyday. I will continue to live in Westport but from now on I will have my bike serviced in Norwalk read more

What a pathetic experience! After spending some considerable time with salesman Matt in late June I decided on ordering a brand new bike from Cycle Dynamics. Matt told me the bike would be in by the end of July. I was also told by Matt that he would be following-up weekly with the manufacturer and consistently up date me on the status of when the new bike would be shipped to the store. Cycle Dynamics never lived-up to what they told me. After not hearing anything for a few weeks I walked into the store and spoke with Matt. I was told yet again by Matt that my bike would be in by the end of July. It took about fifteen minutes for the store to locate the order slip. Matt also told me with the store owner (who didn't seem to care) by his side that he is still calling the manufacturer regularly. It takes fifteen minutes to find the order ticket and you claim your following-up with the manufacturer weekly? It's now one week into August and I've heard absolutely nothing. Cycle Dynamics is pathetic! What a ridiculous response from the owner Charlie. 1) Cycle Dynamics never got in touch with me over the course of July when they said they would. 2) When the manufacturer did call seven weeks after the bike was ordered they said the store should never have sold me the bike since it was no longer in production and Cycle Dynamics should have absolutely known that. 3) When I went to store to speak with the owner after being told by the manufacturer the bike should have never been sold to me, Charlie claimed no responsibility and blamed it on the manufacture and offered me nothing for waiting seven weeks. read more

On our recent trip we purchased a new bike and had a tire replaced on another while we waited. The place was busy but everyone there was given great service. Checked this place out for the first time recently. Awesome. Good selection of products, but most of all the staff was helpful and friendly. The clerk showed an immediate interest in helping, and when it turned out they didn't carry the very specific product I needed he immediately suggested a couple of other cycle stores in the area.
