We went in as three total newbies to escape rooms and had a great time! First off, it was important to us to go to a place like this where small groups aren't paired up with strangers. We went with the Grand Strand Hotel experience on the easiest mode, as we wanted fun more than a huge mental challenge. Our game manager (whose name escapes me, unfortunately...no pun intended!) assured us that we could get more than the standard three hints, if desired, and gave us a solid introduction to the specific room and escape rooms in general. He was generous with the hints throughout; I'd say that if you *don't* want some proactive help from your manager, it's worth mentioning that to them in advance. The room itself was interesting! I can't say much so as to avoid spoilers, but it was a fun mix of challenges, and we managed to escape with 59 seconds left. Overall, it was a great experience that left us looking forward to coming back on a future trip and also made me look forward to trying out more escape rooms in general. read more

Mystery Mansion - family of 4 (2 adults, 2 teenagers), we've done several rooms in the past - exclusive room booking was a big plus for us (just our family, no one else) - finished with 14 minutes to spare, so didn't really feel like a 8/10 in difficulty - "steampunk" in theme, but only minimally - Our host was very nice and plesant, but gave us a clue we didn't ask for mid-game, which was a little dissapointing. - Not very "mansion like" design-wise, but it was ultimately an iteresting use of limited space. Build quality of the room was ok, not as elaborate and "big budget" as some of the local competition, but decent. - Some entertaining puzzles, sometimes it was hard to tell if the puzzle was solved successfully though... we'd get to the solution, then later a door might open (maybe the game-master was remotely triggering for broken/worn-out hardware?). Some of them seemed a little old and worn. - One puzzle had no logic behind it, it was just random, which was dissapointing. Summary: A enjoyable 45 minute escape from the heat and the rain. We've never done an escape room before, we went with our 2 boys (ages 6 and 8) and had SO much fun! We had no idea how to even start but the hostess was fabulous in explaining and getting us kicked off! We did the "moderate" level and the boys were able to participate! My wife and I did the Mystery Mansion room and solved it. I was worried about tackling a room with just the two of us. Luckily Ava was generous with help. I though the puzzles all moved in a pretty logical order. One thing I didn't like was that often the puzzle you solved opened something not close by so there was a little bit of retracing steps. My family and I LOVED the Marooned Island Riddles Escape room. The whole process of reserving and choosing a room was easy and allowed us to choose a difficulty level. We really enjoyed that we could go for a big challenge or not. The staff was very friendly and super attentive to our game. Shoutout to Cameron and Judy for being hilarious and great clue givers... we even had to dance for one when we ran out of shells to pay for them (great concept of buying clues!). The room itself was decorated very well with lots of distractions and big surprises. That being said, we had a group of five and I think it would get very cramped if we had any more. I enjoyed the story line and that the clues connected to it. We can't wait to come back to Myrtle Beach and experience more of the escape rooms and hopefully meet Penny! I went with a few of my friends, it was a total of 4 of us and we booked the whole room as a private group. We underestimated how far the escape room was from our location, so we arrived about 20 minutes late but they got us right in the room, quickly explained the rules and we began the game! My team finished the room and we all enjoyed ourselves! The staff was really friendly and helpful. After we finished they allowed us to take pictures. The process of booking was really simple because we booked online. The escape room was really well decorated and detailed. The steampunk cars "room" is challenging but not overwhelming. Dan is a fantastic host and he will guide you along, when needed or asked. The thing about escape rooms is that you can't say too much, without spoiling it - so, just go and enjoy! This was our first escape room. It was just the 5 of us in the rooWe weren't sure what to expect but Deputy Dan was very informative and helpful. We did the Western Wagon trail. The outside of the storefront looks small but the building goes way back plus they have a upstairs. I won't say anymore about the rooms and give anything away but we recommend going. My party and I successfully completed every available escape room Riddle's has to offer (one room was down for maintenance) in a two day period. The party I went with was comprised of escape room veterans in their mid to late twenties. - All parties are private; they will not put you with strangers. - You can add additional participants in store. I booked our rooms for 2 people, and had one person decide he wanted to go later. - You have to book at least 3 people to play the Wagon Trail room. - If you plan on playing multiple games in a two week period call the store to book your rooms; they will give you a 10% discount. This is not applied when booking online. - I feel like the employees guide you too much through the rooms. My party enjoys the challenge of escape rooms, and I don't want the game master giving my party constant hints. I opted for the higher difficulty experiences and still received guidance from the game masters. - You will only use every key once. This is an important detail the game masters fail to mention. - Some of the props were broken or not working properly so the game master had to unlock parts of rooms for us. - None of the red herrings felt deliberate or well designed. It consisted mostly of unused props scattered through out the room. - I think all the rooms should have white boards for notes and boxes for used keys and locks. Only two rooms have these things. - I would recommend avoiding the Wagon Trail room. It's honestly one of the worse rooms I've ever experienced. It's poorly lit for no reason, it's confusing, the rooms are very tiny (even with a party of 3), the clues provide no guidance, and you have to carry a bag full of a prop around. You realize this bag you've been babysitting is pointless at the end. Overall, if you're new to escape rooms or are planning to bring children I would recommend Riddle's. If your party is full of escape room veterans looking for a challenge I don't think you'll find the experience you're looking for here. read more

We did the Mystery Mansion (difficult level, used 2/3 hints), Escape from the Grande Strand Hotel (difficult level, used all 3 hints), and the Marooned Island (moderate level, used 2/3 hints) Escape rooms while on vacation. It was two of us and we got out of all of them besides the Escape from the Grand Strand Hotel, but were very close due to missing a few key, but obvious things. All of the rooms were fun and well designed. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and want to see you have fun and escape. Our favorite was the Hotel room. The Mystery Mansion wasn't as fun as the other two and was very hot in the upstairs area, but still worth it. read more

To start off I would give this place a 4.5. This was the first time my family and I went to an escape room, so walking in we really had no idea what to expect. We did have to call ahead and make a reservation, so that gives you an idea of how busy/popular this place is. We arrived a good 45 minutes early, and were pleasantly surprised when the staff set up cornhole out back for us to play to help pass the time. We played Marooned Island, and before entering we were told a short story which really built the whole experience. I dont want to give anything away, but there was a nice variety of tasks to solve so the game never felt boring. We were all blown away at the cool trap doors and use of technology as others have mentioned. If I had to complain about anything it was the fact that some of the tasks were not relevant or needed. That could just be a lack of my escape room experience, but I expected one clue to lead to another and everything follow one path. Here you kind of just go all over the place. read more

Four stars is a very high grade from me - we had a great time here! Staff was friendly and engaged. We started on time and the room (Hotel) was very cool and the puzzle very challenging (we made it out with 5 min to spare). We opted for a private experience with just me my wife my 15 year old daughter and 16 year old son. Wanna see how much faster a teen brain is than yours? Not pretty for a 50 something dad but even I came in useful in solving some critical clues. Great experience (though not cheap if you are small group in private room).
