We were playing tourist at Broadway with a bachelor group of five when someone suggested an escape…read moreroom as we walked by. I went in to inquire about available times and we lucked out. They had an opening but it was in 7 minutes. Luckily I wrangled the troops and we got checked in right away. One of the best escape rooms I had ever done was with this same group of guys so we already had experience together. I won't give anything away but I will say the room we did was very elaborate and definitely had us thinking outside the box. One thing that was different was that sometimes instead of a physical key or combo to get to the next clue, it might be an action or something not so definitive to move forward in the game. It was cool in a way, but once we wasted time because the game master said we did it wrong and we actually had it right the first go around. By the end, we finally figured it out and made it under the allotted time. As we were exiting our guide let us know that we actually had one second left on the clock. Talk about a buzzer beater! At the end they don't do a photo which I thought was odd because every other one I went to they did, but the guys snapped a pic for us anyway.

I've never done a mirror maze before, so this was a first for me -- and it was really fun!…read moreBackstage Mirror Maze turned out to be a great surprise and definitely something different to do while walking around Broadway at the Beach. The setup is creative, the lights and reflections keep you guessing, and it's a good laugh trying to figure out which way is actually the right way. It was a little pricier than I expected at $20 per person, but when you think about it, that's $40 total for two people, and it includes a wristband that lets you go through as many times as you want. If you're spending a few hours (or the whole day) at Broadway, that unlimited access makes it absolutely worth it -- especially for families or anyone who likes a bit of lighthearted adventure. Overall, we had a great time. It's a fun, unique attraction that breaks up all the eating and shopping, and I'd love to come back and do it again when they have it decked out for the holidays -- I can only imagine how cool that must look with all the seasonal lights and décor.
