Not sure what happened to my favorite Greenwood dive... I am one that will tell you to expect little, and be impressed, but how low do I have to set my expectations to be happy at my old FAVORITE hangout? I used to LOVE going to the 'Shaw, for breakfast, lunch, dinner, midnight snack, Karaoke, whatever. The quality of Ginger's staff has deteriorated to the point where unless you're an absolute daily regular, you're a annoyance to the staff. You'll get served when they feel like it. The prices have continued to rise, and the quality of food declined. Yelp's 2 star description is perfect: 'Meh. I've experienced better', and it's been at the same place. You can do better 'Shaw!! I know you can! read more

The Rickshaw is everything an urban get-away should be; part restaurant, part bar, part live entertainment. I dig the food but come mostly for the late night gems. Ginger Luke has been forging on at The Rickshaw for thirty plus years. Support more, local awesomeness. read more

Rickshaw Restaurant - Dive Bars Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Absolutely disgusting! Not only did they neglect to deliver part of my order, the quality of the food was awful. The hot and sour soup had such a thick layer of chili oil on top that it was inedible. The BBQ Pork was dry, the egg roll was dripping grease, the almond fried chicken was overcooked and saturated with grease, the fried rice was soggy and the chow mein smelled like it had been fermenting on the counter for several days. Stay as far away from this place as you can! read more

I will have to finish my review later. I haven't laughed this hard or had this much fun in a long, long time. Thank you Rickshaw ...

I go there for the drinks and to play some pull tabs once in a while. The drinks are awesome, the crowd is the best place to people watch. The bartenders Holly, Holly, Amy and the new girl are all great. Great senses of humor and wickedly strong drinks. The pot stickers are the best in town! The owner Ginger is a strange bird but you dont have to deal with her. (thank god)! Cant stand Karaoke so at 9 when that starts I get the heck out of there! read more

Tim was my bartender tonight great guy, awesome personality and great drinks. We need more Tim! read more

Rickshaw Restaurant - This is the man the myth this is Tim!!!! - Dive Bars Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I love the staff. They make the restaurant better. Aimee and Daniel helped me to figure out something that I can eat there that is dairy, gluten and latex free. Having food allergies really sucks and I'm happy they were willing to help. :) read more

I met a friend here for a couple beers, he was having his oil changed at the Jiffy Lube down the street and I live a few blocks away. My roommate had told me the place was fabulous but I hadn't ventured in yet. Anyway I meet my friend here, he leaves me alone there about 45 minutes later so he can go pick up his car, while he's gone I make idle chit chat with the regulars, one of whom is a man with no arms named Kenny. Kenny's wicked cool. Someone asked Kenny how old he was, "63" he says, "You look good for 63... I'm 63 myself," I say joking around... here's where the story gets a bit frightening... Kenny gets up from his chair, walks over and proceeds to FEEL ME UP with him FOOT! I couldn't make this up if I tried! The bartender yells at Kenny for bothering her customers, and he leaves me alone, mostly, for the rest of the time. I whip my cell phone out as quickly as I can and text my friend to hurry back! Now I will admit the feeling up was a bit disturbing, but also just gives you a feel for the regular sort of patrons this place has. I love it! The happy hour at the Rickshaw is from like 10 am until 8 pm or something, which basically means until their evening karaoke begins! My friend and I agreed we'd need to try the place on a karaoke night and we definitely need to try some food. The bartender working was a nice girl, she was quick to notice when we needed another beer (which I obviously needed several after Kenny touched my boobies) and she was friendly. We'll be back, but please Kenny, don't feel me up again :( read more

Remember when you go there that this is NOT a chinese restaurant that happens to have karaoke. This is a karaoke bar that just happens to serve chinese food. If you are intent enough on the singing karaoke or you're bombed enough to want to want to sing karaoke then you probably won't mind the food read more

The bartender on Tuesday 1/21/20 around 10 PM was beligerent and rude. We left immediatly after she opened her mouth.

Food good (for dive-bar chinese), Waitress good, Drinks good (strongish and cheapish). One star because the owner/manager, a squat mulletted lady, appears to have no interest in being any sort of "hospitable" or "decent" or "human". We often check out new restaurants on coupons to minimize risk. Found a decent one on restaurants.com, and, coming from a great movie in good spirits, decided to give this place a try on Christmas. The fact that it was Christmas was apparently reason to deny a coupon we had to pre-pay for, though nowhere on the coupon does it indicate that holidays are exempt. This may seem a bit harsh, but the manager/owner was rude about the refusal, and our waitress, again a very nice lady, seemed obviously embarrassed. This would have been a great cheap chinese option since we're fairly close and, again, we enjoyed the food mostly, but we will never again go to this restaurant and will advise all of our friends to search for a different chinese joint. read more

the server was friendly, but the service suuuuuuucked. you'd think that for a table of 8 the waiter would be all over us in hopes of a fat tip, but he was barely around and one of our friendss caught him loafing around in the staff area when she went in search of someone to take a drink order. then he ran all of our cards when he said that they were just to hold the tab. lame. and the bills were all fucked up. lamer. read more

Rapping elderly white women = awesome Drunken young professionals reliving their college days with Neil Diamond and Journey songs = some what annoying but awesome in its own right Asian Americans having flashbacks of karaoke parties hosted by their parents = awesome, but in a terrifying kind of way. Rickshaw Restaurant & Lounge = what a dump (and by that I mean it's awesome and I'll see you there tonight) read more

Strong drinks. Cheap drinks. A karaoke dj who will throw your chair across the room if it gets in his way. What more could you ask for?

Ordered takeout tonight, spent $25, and this was more of a waste that sticking $25 into a slot machine. The chicken was disgusting and soggy and the crab ragoons were barely lukewarm, slightly undercooked. Do not recommend for food. read more

I called and asked a simple question. The lady who answered was extremely rude and it's my birthday, I asked one question ?!!! NO NEED TO BE SO RUDE !!!!!! Never coming here in my life. read more

I'm not a Karaoke fan, per se. And by per se, I mean it sucks ***** and politely asks a ***** eating **** to ***** it. But this place is pretty good, if not a bit ironic. If you can imagine combining a KIDZ BOP c.d. commercial with a Panda Express, then dousing the whole thing in cheap booze, you'll get a pretty good idea of the evening you're in for. But seriously, their song-book is pretty big, they serve food all night, and the crowd is friendly. Order some steamed dumplings, and a neon-drink off their massive "Specialty" drinks menu, and try and remember the words to "Two Princes" I'm Out. read more

Best poured shots in town! The bartender Sam has a heavy hand and is fun to be around and great to talk to. The bartender Amy is very friendly and knows her football. This is a gr8 place to watch sports or sing karaoke. The food here is terrible but they make up for it with strong drinks and gr8 patrons. read more

Karaoke host likes to sing a lot, even when there are many in the queque waiting to sing. He likes his book and slips to be filled out- don't request a song like you can at North Star where they just look it up. The internet is great at NS and evidently he doesn't have the songs that are available elsewhere cause I had to skip my first song I sing many places. Two stars for the food which is pretty good-stars removed for the the karaoke host who was subpar. read more

well anyplace where (albeit cheesy) guys tell me they want to dedicate "closer" by nine inch nails to me while singing with no pants on is just too cool... the food wasn't as bad as i was expecting it to be actually...granted it wasn't awesome but it was hot and didn't make me sick and overall not too bad...sort of like panda express or something... just not exciting but okay (i asked what the bartender recommended and got the pu pu platter and the general tso's chicken) i got to sing couple of times...the book was pretty extensive and the people were really cool and supportive... even for those people murdering songs hehe there was some sort of puppy peddling going on in the parking lot...i am unsure what it was but i think they were breeders of little yappy dogs and there were all these families checking them out to buy them... weird... read more

This place has disgusting food and the wait staff is the most rude I've ever experienced in my life. I'm so surprised this place is still around. You're an idiot if you spend your money here. read more

I'll admit it, I was pretty dubious about stopping in here with a few friends, but definitely glad they pulled me in. Can't speak to the food but the drinks, the karaoke, service, and prices were definitely better than expected. Drinks were served with a real heavy pour, which can't be beat. The Karaoke crowd was so inclusive and entertaining, unlike some others in town that are pretentious and bitchy--rickshaw's team just exuded a chill, everyone's-invited kind of vibe, which worked great for a midweek late night karaoke binge. Service was great and the prices were insanely cheap, even for a dive bar. I'm not this far north very often (least of all at night) but if I find myself in the neighborhood again, this will be on the short list for late-night drinks and entertainment. read more

Great Dive Karaoke Bar. Stiff drinks! Friendly, albeit a bit cramped, atmosphere

Hell yeah to karaoke and greasy Chinese food! (Although I would have expected it on the cheaper side). I lost my karaoke-in-public V-card here. I like the crowd because it's not intimidating and even though I suck at singing, everybody is supportive and friendly. I usually come here knowing I have to work the next day so I can't comment on the mixed drinks. Song list is uhmayzing! read more

I do not like their food at all, but their drinks rock and their Karaoke is pretty funny as well. After I down my jager bombs, i like to sit back for a bit, watch the karaoke late 80s/early 90s couples screen, and scream WHOO!! to random strangers. I also like that there are random people singing Bryan Adams with you while you wail out on the mike trying your best sliding impression, supa-star! read more

The worst karaoke setup ever!!! There was a 2x2 stage ( Ive had jail cells roomier) they had a crummy selection of songs and many of them didn't work. We had a rude, rat tailed DJ who lost our song and then was an ass when we asked about it, (were nice guys too) the night ended sober and unsatisfied. Not the way to leave karaoke!!! read more

If you are craving for some Americanized Chinese food or looking for a cool spot to Karaoke or watch some sports, then this is the spot! The things to order are the Almond chicken and chow mein! This place has a really cool mellow vibe but can be crazy when people are Karaoke-ing and the remodeling they did after the place got burnt down looks nice as well. read more

I love the Ricky. Plain and Simple. Patty's the best karaoke hostess around, Holly and Bethany pour great (read: strong) drinks, and the current servers - Rick, Don, and Sean - are fun and friendly. I'm a semi-regular there - it's been my Friday and Saturday go-to spot for karaoke for the past 4 years now. You gotta be prepared for a long rotation, though - you're lucky if you get 3 songs in on a Saturday night. The crowd gets thick on the weekend, what with the Rickshaw being a popular spot for birthday parties (frequently the just-turned-21-year-olds having their 80s themed parties, god help us all) and bachelorette parties. And parties, of course, mean gaggles of drunk girls screeching - I mean singing - "Goodbye Earl" or "Total Eclipse of the Heart" into the mike. But hey, they're just having fun, so you smile and keep in good humor, and when it's REALLY bad, go out and have a smoke. As for the food - the Rickshaw fried rice is good if you ask them to cook the bacon extra crispy, and I'm a fan of their spring rolls. I love the chinese doughnuts, and my friends often get the salt & pepper wings. But you don't go to the Ricky for the food, people. Really, you don't. You go for strong drinks and karaoke. Go often enough, don't try to bribe Patty to get moved up in the rotation (she won't even move her own kids up in the rotation when they come in... she's THAT fair about things!!), don't cop an attitude with Patty or the staff, and tip well (cause everyone there hustles their butts off, believe it or not), and you'll become a regular in no time. They take really good care of you when they get to know your name. read more

5 stars because everyone who lives in Seattle should come here at least once. if you come here for the food you are insane. This is Seattle, not Oklahoma. There is so much decent Chinese food to be found, but not here. That being said, you may also be lazy, or lack proper transportation, because decent Chinese food seems to be difficult to come by in the Northgate-Greenwood-area. That being said, you may also just be up really late and hungry and want food that is ordered using vocabulary commonly used to order Chinese food but in actuality is not Chinese or even quite food, which is forgiveable, although many restaurants in Chinatown and U-District are open quite late, so we'll go with lazy or lacking proper transportation. Whatever it may be, 0 stars for the food, 5 stars for the hilarious entertainment to be found once karaoke is in full swing. Bring a friend and see who can have the craziest nonsensical conversation with a drunk regular. If you're female and your friend is a male and he strikes up a conversation with some old dude, and the old dude shakes your friend's hand, you should hide your hands in case the old dude then moves in to take your hand and kiss it, brushing his weird bristly chin hairs against your tender young hand skin. Ambiance wise, this place is one of a kind, and worth a visit. But eat somewhere else first, and hide your hands when engaged in a conversation with a stranger. read more

Ordered delivery from here once. Will not be doing it again. The order took forever to arrive, the guy delivering asked my boyfriend if he was gonna pay and my boyfriend informed him he already had online (funny that he didn't seem to know that). And both of our orders were wrong. read more

The Rickshaw is my home away from home. It is where I go when I need to let loose and forget about my troubles. It is where I can indulge in delicious greasy potstickers and have a strong cocktail. It is where I can sing my heart out and not give a damn about what anyone thinks because the crowd there doesn't give a damn. Patty, the karaoke hostess, is our friend, and our backup vocals when we forget the words. She is in one word, awesome. I've made many, many fond memories at The Rickshaw, and plan on making many more. read more

Love this place! Tightwad Wednesdays is my favorite. The waitresses we have had have been great, they remember what we drink and are always friendly. Katie is a great waitress and always in a good mood! The food is great too, lots to choose from. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Dive bar with Karaoke and asian food. Lots of local drunks hanging out.

The non-bar dining is pretty lousy. I've heard good things about the bar, and plan on going back for that.

This place is hard to rate because it's a fun karaoke spot with great people.... But the food is mediocre. If you're ok with being served boring food that looks like it came from a box, then come here for drinks and songs! But it's probably a bad idea to come here during the daylight hours without some drinks in you read more

once upon a time the rickshaw was a magical place! the food is absolutely terrible. horrible. punishment. but the drinks were good. and the hosts were great. the staff was great! now the drinks are not so great. they seem to be getting weaker. the wait staff has flipped around. so now this new staff is a bit green. they seem to think they are working retail. thank god some of the old bartenders are there but it seems as though there has been some big shift of lameness. so all in all the rickshaw seems to be declining and well i would love for it to improve so i could write that it got better. unfortunately i truly doubt it. read more

Karaoke puts me off but but dive bar food is something I live for, so we headed to the Rickshaw last night. I'd been here once before in the mid-90s and remembered some outstanding "Mongolian" Beef...no, it wasn't any more authentic back then. Recipe has changed though, it was drier this time, almost tasted...healthier? I'm hallucinating, I'm sure. We shared that, the curry fried rice (homey! comforting!) and the sesame chicken, which was maybe our over-all favorite. Nice-sized portions, I had beer, he had wine, we got out for just over $50 including tip, took home enough for a really excellent re-heated lunch today. They go lighter on the gluey, starchy sauces here and somehow that makes for tastier leftovers. Superb; will not wait nearly 20 years to return. read more

Never again. Ordered the sesame chicken and got desiccated deep-fried remnants of what might have once been chicken. Not trying to be cute - that's exactly what it was. read more

What the hell is rumaki? Oh...it's a water chestnut wrapped in ham wrapped in bacon and then deep fried. Sounds healthy, right? Well, when you're drunk and hungry, you'll eat it! I gotta say...Rickshaw looks extremely delapidated in the daytime, but at night, it's one rockin' karaoke place. When we go there, we always start out sitting at the tables in the weird side area with the cat carriers, but the waitstaff always make sure we end up in a booth smack-dab in the middle of the action! We don't go for the food, and the drinks are horrible (but they'll get you nice and liquored up), but it's all about the karaoke and merriment. It's so laid back and you never feel self-conscious when you sing. However, the karaoke hostess can be downright blunt and she takes her job way too seriously. My friend put in 4 song requests, and she turned him away for 2 of them. Also, whatever you do...DO NOT SIT ON THE STOOL when you sing...she'll make you cry if you do. Despite all that, I have always had fun there and have always left nice and drunk. What more can I ask for? read more

The staff at this place acts like a family. Turnover with staff is really low there, which may be a weird thing to mention, but since the place has been open with the same owner since the 70s it really gives the vibe there a very connected feeling and I think that's good because it makes it relaxed. Food is good, drinks are good and they have cheap, mini versions of a lot of there meals and drink specials everyday so u can go there on a budget and still have a good time. They have karaoke every day and a pretty high tech system and with some recent upgrades they've made the sound is also really, really great. I think that makes it one of, if not the best karaoke place in Seattle. read more
