This is the quintessential dive bar karaoke joint. They serve some form of Chinese/Asian fusion dishes and have a fast bar that serves up quick cocktails. They have really friendly karaoke DJs and an even friendlier crowd of regulars that come out and have the best vocal pipes I've come across in Seattle. The Rickshaw has some notoriety because just about everyone has come to practice their songs or croon with their buddies here. The respect for everybody willing to get up and sing is palpable. The cheering is genuine and sometimes the sing-alongs are the best things ever. You should come try this place. It's a Seattle institution. Parking is somewhat limited but they do have their own parking lot if you get there early enough.

Cool cute place to drink but do yourself a favor and skip the food. The egg roll filling was just shredded almost raw cabbage. Fried rice tasted like it came out a microwaved bag. And the nachos- the sour cream was definitely expired. We paid extra for beef and got literally maybe a tablespoon of "beef crumbles" see picture. Bartenders and servers are super nice would come back for drinks but not the food.

I love coming here for karaoke and drinks. They have a good size menu too and so far everything I've ordered has been great.

Food was very good, looks like a fun place for locals to hang out n do karaoke! We arrived around 830p on Saturday night, by 930 many groups coming in for food and starting up karaoke. Our server was very kind , food was great prices . We will be back!

Such a fun late night spot! Who doesn't want karaoke and delicious Chinese food. It is definitely our go-to spot for after we hit the bars or go to a party. It's a little bit of a dive, but the drinks are good and cheap. If Karaoke isn't your thing, they have pull tabs and a few other things to entertain. They also have Jello Shots for the avid partier. It's not fancy, and it's not classy but it is FUN!

First and foremost, this is a bar. The mai tais are pretty, pretty, pretty good! We have always had great service sitting at the bar. Secondly, it's kind of a dive bar, and you are going to get some fairly good entertainment whether it's from people watching or karaoke. The other night, the lady starting off the karaoke should think about American Idol or The Voice because I could have sat there all night listening to her sing. It can be a fun crowd. Of all things, I like the building. The place is old and run down with remnants of when Chinese restaurants were a treat. The old sign out front and the lanterns hanging from the ceiling give it a great character. Lastly, the food is a mix of bar food and Chinese dishes. It's good to have something to fall back on if you have pounded back a few too many cocktails, but I wouldn't let it be your first reason for going to Rickshaw.

An institution. Bartenders are always super nice and nice regulars too. Love going for some late night some greazy american Chinese food.

Big Bad John's - Bar area and decor

Big Bad John's

(71 reviews)

$

You don't walk into Big Bad John expecting refinement--but even by dive bar standards, this place…read morefeels less like a throwback and more like it's been left behind. There's no warmth waiting for you here. No charm to soften the edges. Just a small bar, guarded--literally--by a security presence, and a room filled with heavy, worn wooden booths that have seen better decades. Not years--decades. Look up, and you'll find the signature décor: a ceiling crowded with women's undergarments. Bras, mostly. Some scrawled with messages, others just hanging there, collecting time and dust in equal measure. The occasional pair of panties or something more adventurous makes an appearance, but the effect isn't quirky so much as... committed. Committed to a theme that's long overstayed its welcome. Dust is part of the aesthetic here, whether intentional or not. It clings to everything, including those ceiling relics, turning what might once have felt playful into something closer to a time capsule you're not sure should've been opened. And yet--there's life in the room. The ambiance, somehow, is still jovial. People are laughing, drinks are flowing, and there's a certain unspoken agreement among patrons to just go with it. The drinks are surprisingly cheap by Victoria standards, which certainly helps smooth over some of the rougher edges. And then there are the peanuts--toss the shells on the floor, no one's judging. In fact, it's encouraged. It's chaotic, a little grimy, and unapologetically itself. For me, it's a one-and-done. The kind of place you visit once, take in the spectacle, and check the box. But talk to the regulars, and you'll hear a different story. For them, this isn't a relic--it's a ritual. A place that hasn't changed, and that's exactly the point. Whether that's endearing or exhausting probably depends on how much nostalgia you're willing to drink with your beer. Cheers...

I ordered the 8 oz sirloin steak and asked for it to be prepared medium rare. I declined the side-salad due to dietary restrictions. However I had no problem eating the steak fries and sourdough toast. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw a portion of horseradish included. Take care with the horseradish because it is very potent! Fortunately I enjoy very potent horseradish and happily ate it with my steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and was juicy and tasty. I was not disappointed in any way with my meal. I did regret not ordering a red wine though. If I had it to do over I would have indulged.

They also give you garlic bread with the chowder and that was also amazing. I wanted the chowder and garlic bread again the next day. The service was friendly and efficient. We got our order in quickly and the food arrived quickly. I was waiting for the check but then saw someone go up to the bar to pay. So, that's what I did. I'm still not sure if that was what I was supposed to do though. The inside is a little dark. There is a lot of water/fishing related decor. There is a small amount of booths and a small amount of stools at the bar. After we got there a lot of people came in and had to wait because there isn't a lot of seating.
