I had such a nice lunch with my friends at Rick's Reef! We went on Sunday, and a Bucs game was playing on the screen. They had a $5 Bucs themed cocktail that I ordered, and I really enjoyed it. Good bang for your buck! The atmosphere was lively and laid back, with beachy vibes. There's no view of the beach, but you are very close to the water. For my entrée, I got the crab cakes, corn, and slaw. It was delicious and just the right amount of food. The service was quick and friendly. I would definitely come back soon! read more

We've been here before years ago, it's good if you are looking for late nite food their kitchen is open till around 12-1230. I had the 3 taco special which was great & it included a margarita or beer or soda for $11, hub had the blackened grouper sandwich, he liked it. Amazing food. Amazing Service. We had just gotten into town and there was a huge storm in the area, causing a lot of bars to shut down. Ricks Reef stayed open and welcome us in! I didn't catch her name, but the tall blonde waitress was extremely helpful. She even recommended some other places to eat/drink/visit at while we were in town. Many people recommended Rick's Reef to us so we were excited and had fairly high hopes. When we got there, we stood by the "please wait to be seated" sign for quite a while, while servers walked past us and made eye contact. The finally sat us a few minutes later. The outdoor seating area is really nice, it was just what we wanted to enjoy the warm weather and the beachy atmosphere. I was disappointed that they said they did not have any draft beer, only cans and bottles. The lobster fries are an absolute must if you go here. The tacos and the shrimp were decent as well. I would not recommend the onion rings. Overall, a good place to go eat and enjoy the outdoor seating, but not the best food I've ever had. read more

We went there today to watch some football. Checked their website to verify that they had actual seltzers like Whiteclaw or Truly and they listed both including Vizzy's. When we showed up, the bartender said she has been there for 5 years and they have never had them. They only have Nutrl's. They need to update their website but that's false advertising! Batter on fried calamari and grouper bites were bland and held on to the grease. The calamari was rubbery and inedible, grouper had a really off texture and flavor as well. Also tried the she crab soup, it had a great creamy crab flavor but the gelatinous blobs of what I assume to be imitation krab killed the experience for me. No idea who my server was as I had a different person every time. Ordered the same drink twice and they tasted nothing alike. There are better places in the area, I wouldn't recommend this spot. read more

Such a great place. The servers are friendly and attentive, they have sports tvs, fresh food, and lively atmosphere that is dog friendly. Our server was Brian who was amazing- kept a big smile on his face everything we saw him and was super friendly. We actually dined in twice, once for lunch and the following day for breakfast while we watched the game and Brian was the server both times. For lunch I enjoyed the blt, minus the bacon and my bf enjoyed the Mahi Mahi sandwich (which our pups gave 2 paws up). Was very disappointed with our meal after reading great reviews and even when we were there we loved the vibe. I think we'd be willing to try it again in the future, but would be more careful with what we order. It looks like they have amazing food specials, but we didn't get them. With each special, you get a draft beer! The gator bites were okay and there was nothing bad about them, but a restaurant down the road has better ones. My girlfriend got the stuffed grouper. She said the grouper melted in her mouth and was tasty. She said she could not taste the crab though. The fries and tots were good. She also had the spicy margarita. I got the lobster roll, which looked amazing, but the only taste came from the bun. The meat was lumpy and looked like it would have flavor, but it didn't. The tots were way better than the lobster roll. Our waitress was pretty bad. She checked in on how we were doing right after our food came, but never came back again until we had to get our checks. I was trying to drink the ice cubes because I was so thirsty. When she came for the check, more than half my lobster roll was still on my platen because I didn't like it that much. I have not have a deep fried corn in Florida. I have deep fried corn once at New Orlean. The corn is very delicious. I recommend this side order if you come here. The outward of the corn has apply a layer of salty coating. It match the corn sweetness. The grouper is fresh. Seem like fresh catch of the day. My friend has a he shrimp pasta. Went to Ricks tonight. Have been there many times with no issues. I ordered the chicken tenders platter. Bit into my second tender and it get like rubber. Spat it out and it was calamari! And I'm allergic to shellfish. It wasn't in my mouth long enough to cause a problem. I lost my appetite at that point and told our waiter.my wife asked for a box for the rest of her meal and he brought our check. They hadn't even taken my chicken tenders off the bill! Their menu is a foodies dream but the quality of the food does not match the menu descriptions or prices. The shrimp appetizer was under seasoned and a bit too greasy. I stopped by Rick's Reef for lunch on Sunday after hitting the Cory Street Market. I can say that the food was good but that was the only positive part of the experience. The onion rings were delicious! Rick's is a small restaurant and it got very loud and it was hard to have a conversation. The big problem is that it's obvious that the staff doesn't care. Service wasn't good and the staff clearly lacked motivation. The chefs were the only ones who represented Rick's Reef well. I don't feel the need to return to Rick's. read more

If you don't mind eating bad quality food that's overpriced, then this is the perfect place. Some of the good things.. - Convenient location since it's a 5 minute walk from the beach. - Casual, beach vibes. Perfect for grabbing a bite while still wearing your swimsuit. - The menu has a lot of options so there's something for everyone. - The seafood is fresh. Now moving on to some of the not so great things.. - The food quality and price don't match. Yes, the seafood is fresh, but they put too little of it on the dishes and every thing else is bad. - First thing I tried were the lobster fries. The lobster was nice, but the fries felt old and had a bitter taste to it. Most of the plate was just fries and sauce and barely any lobster. This was $15. - Then I got mac and cheese with shrimp. The regular mac and cheese is $10 and they charged $8 extra for 6 little shrimp. You can get a lobster roll for that amount. The mac and cheese itself didn't even taste like cheese. It just tasted like heavy cream. It was actually so sweet from it I had to add salt to my dish. - And the bread the served on the side I'm pretty sure it's frozen bread and they just added cheap butter on top. 3.5 stars- we drove up to Tampa International to pick up our daughter arriving from California who was hungry as was her dog so St. Pete seemed to be a good place to grab a bite. Ricks was crowded with about 15 people in front of us but the line moved. Our waitress recommended the lobster fries as an appetizer ( good but a bit rich). I ordered the grouben( grouper Reuben) which was small and somewhat disappointing. My wife asked for a dirty martini but they had no olives- my draft beer was good and the restaurant allows pets so it worked out well. I was on vacation, late night dinner at 12am & the food was absolutely delicious. We were a party of 3 and we all agreed. We loved it! Best Grouper Reuben sandwich I've ever eaten. I would drive back there in a heart beat just to eat it. My husband's fish tacos were amazing, and our friend's chicken buffalo brioche sandwich was incredibly tasty.
