My friends and I went to The Toasted Monkey for dinner after spending the day at St. Pete Beach, and the overall experience was really nice. The view from the upstairs bar was great. We got to watch an amazing sunset, which was definitely the highlight. The food took a little longer than expected to come out, but it was tasty and reasonably priced. I ordered blackened grouper tacos and my friends ordered burgers. We all enjoyed our plates. The service was good and the staff was friendly. Parking is free, which is a plus, but it is pretty limited, so that's something to keep in mind. Overall, a solid spot with a great vibe. read more

A very laid back beach vibe. The tacos were good very crisp veggies, and seasoned chicken, and refreshing after a squeeze of lime. The mermaid lemonade was really good not too over bearing with the alcohol, but smooth enough for you to have a few, and the live band adds a certain party atmosphere. Key lime pie was sweet and not too tart. Definitely a good place to go after a beach day and get good food and drinks to keep a chill vibe going. The waiters made us feel like long time friends. Have been coming to this location for 15 plus years BUT tonight changed it all for me. Never been treated like this by any establishment before now. My friends were dropped off at the door while I parked. They sat at a table waiting for me for maybe 15 minutes. Was never approached by anyone to serve them. Once I arrived they are telling us we can't sit at table because there is a waiting list. NO ONE was waiting on a table!!! We were ask to get up from table. The next 30 minutes as we stood waiting to get a table. I never saw anyone approach the hostess stand to request a table. Once we ask for a manager.. he too stated we should check with hostess. The vibes are great, the food is consistently good, and the beach breeze makes it such a fun spot to visit. Food- honestly a pretty good amount of seafood. Was a little nervous to try since there was no photos on yelp of this but was pleasantly surprised with how much seafood is on it. It didn't mention Parmesan on the menu so that was also a pleasant surprise. It was good just not excellent but it is a bar so don't expect crazy restaurant experience Service- nice waitress but nothing super attentive to add to the experience Ambiance-cute, went on a weeknight and it was a bit of an older crowd but think it'd be great for families even. Sit on the second floor if you don't want too loud or music Parking- EASY BUT I got there around 630pm on a weeknight. Likely a lot more difficult on the weekend. Let me begin this by stating we just stopped in and had a beer and then left. We used to come to this location all the time when it was known as crab daddies. it has been several years since we've been back here. We like this location because it does have a rooftop patio where you can sit and watch the inlet. They also have a large outdoor seating area that is covered. When we got there on Friday around three in the afternoon, it was already pretty busy with a very senior crowd. We chose to order a couple of beers and just sat at one of the tables outside. From what we observed, the team all seem pretty friendly and when we did ask if they had bottles of water, they did make the effort to see if they could find any on property. Unfortunately, the one location they looked that they thought they would be, and they didn't have them- at that point we were just ready to keep moving on with our day so let them know it was fine and we appreciated the attempt. read more

We got great service from Heidi and Anika whom were very attentive during busy lunch rush this past Saturday. The breeze from upper deck was splendid. Music was good, chillaxing vibe. Nice place for drinks and food. This has the look and feel of a locals place, and the view of the water is really nice. Went in on a Tuesday and heard some nice music playing and enjoyed some great drinks and food. Had the peel and eat shrimp, and to my delight, the shrimp were deveined and very easy to peel. Great little spot for dinner. Indoor and outdoor seating with several bar areas and love music. This place got packed really early,, but we were able to get a table upstairs after a short wait. The food was really good, we all enjoyed our meals (I got tacos as usual). Only complaint I have is that as I was reaching over the table to grab a zucchini fritter from my dining partner, the assistant server came up and set my food down underneath my arm, to avoid hitting his arm I ended up dropping the fritter (onto my purse, loaded with marinara sauce) and knocking my drink all over the table. He just walked away without acknowledging anything and I was really annoyed but did not say anything to my server...not her fault, she was GREAT. Her name was Anika I believe. We ordered what I call fru-fru (sweet) alcoholic beverages, and they were kind of weak. The live entertainment was pretty good and there was a massive crowd having a great time. We also got the Asian lettuce wraps I would give those a 3.5/5 one of the sauces on there wasn't the best and the pork was a little tough. For entrees I got the grouper fried tacos 5/5 full of flavor and the fish was cooked perfect not dry at all. My husband got the mahi coconut crusted plate with rice and sautéed veggies 4/5 good on flavor overall but I do think the fish needed a bit more favor (but if coconut you can definitely taste it) really simple more of like just salt for my preference. Staff was continuously clearing plates, empty cups, napkins etc. It was always someone available to get more cocktails, ice, water etc. The food was good for a Sports Bar. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was overwhelming (especially with the live music outside), the place lacked ambiance, and the service was borderline nonexistent. We ordered an appetizer, which was very delicious, but the plates for the apps were dirty, and we never received silverware. The drinks were well priced but did tasted cheap. Our meals were okay, I had a burger and my husband enjoyed his fish tacos. Perhaps they were short staffed this evening and I always want to give people the benefit of the doubt, but the service was nonexistent- no refills, no check ins, no dessert.
