Rick's reef goes dive bar at the beach vibe, and it's hard to go wrong there. We came for some small bites and a snack because we missed lunch, but too early for dinner. The lobster fries were good but pretty greasy and too much for one person. I could only eat a small portion, regardless of the good taste, it was a lot. And unfortunately the server wasn't the best in being attentive. Lastly our grouper bites were a bit rubbery and not very tasty.. Amazing dinner the other night at Rick's Reef while visiting our family from AZ, That Lobster Mac and Cheese was fire!!! We also had their fish and chips, crab cakes and I believe my guy had a cheeseburger that he raved about as well. Everything was cooked and presented perfectly and to top it off, our server Brittany was such a doll!! Even though we showed up close to closing, she was incredibly welcoming, friendly and with a huge smile on her face the whole time, we never felt rushed so I just wanted to say thank you girl! Classic beach spot with good vibes and surprisingly decent prices! Service was quick for our party of 5 (including a toddler) and there was something for everyone on the menu. We ordered the crab cake BLT, bang bang shrimp tacos, shrimp po boy, and chicken wings and everyone seemed to love their orders! We got there between 5 and 6 and basically walked in to a table though it did look like it was picking up when we were leaving. Lots of people always suggest this restaurant and we have yet to stop here, but now we finally did. At first you see a sign, wait to be seated, we stood there for a quick second no one came so we just stepped inside and that's when Blake greeted us. Basically got to choose wherever we wanted, so I picked a spot where I can see the football games. After sitting for a few and having a drink we decided to order. I tried the lobster fries, which were out of this world! They were really good! Then I ordered the po' boy but upgraded to the grouper with tater tots. It comes with a "shark sauce" which is a horseradish/mayo and it was good! My wife got chicken fajitas with their fried corn. She really liked the corn and the fajitas! The food was really good, and I was so glad since it was our last meal for our trip to St. Pete. The hostess told us our server would be over shortly to take our order. My wife was very excited by all the menu options as was I and before we knew it 10 minutes passed but still no server. We watched other couples come in and we thought certain the time was going to be soon at that point, but to our dismay we watched those other couples place orders and receive drinks. My wife and I surrendered and went up to tell the hostess we were leaving. She didn't remember us as I had to remind her of our greeting. I had a friend in town a couple of weekends ago that took me and my buddy out fishing, and we ended up catching close to 50 pounds worth of fillets and took 8 pounds worth into Rick's Reef for them to cook it up for us. The whole process was super smooth as we got all 8 pounds blackened, and for every 2 pounds, Rick's Reef gives you two sides, so everyone got to pick two sides for themselves, and if you wanted to order food on top of it, you could. I have never been to Rick's Reef, but it is a staple of Saint Pete Beach. Anytime I go fishing from here on out and want to eat that fish the night of I'll be back. Fish: 9.5 Sides 9.2 Scale system 10/10 would be what I want for my last meal 9.9-9.3 driving out of my way to get this 9.2-8.0 like the place and would go back 7.9-7.0 I would come here again if it were presented and don't have anything bad to say 6.9 and below - thanks but no thanks after trying once read more

If you are looking for a place to eat outside with good food, Rick's Reef is the place to be! Plenty of outdoor tables or seats at the bar and dogs are welcomed. Last time we were in town we went here and had to come back for the lobster fries. Those fries seem to be fresh cut which automatically makes them superior to any other fry out. The calamari was crispy and I liked how big the pieces of seafood was. The portions here are always big enough to eat some here and then later at home. Last time we got drinks but this time around we did not but they do make any frozen drinks you want. Will be back here again next time I'm in Florida for sure. Chicken Wing Review: I was not a fan of the chicken wings here. To start off there was not enough sauce and tasted almost watery when eating the wings. They have seafood along with bar items that are good sized and reasonably priced. Service was pretty good and there was a laid back vibe which was nice for a Sunday. I liked that we were able to sit outside and had our own television for the football game. The fried fish and blackened grouper seemed like the best options, and the fries were also very good.
