We were in Florida for a quick weekend and wanted to grab some lunch at Stormrunners Tavern while we were in town. I am glad this was the place we chose, as it was fantastic! What we got: *Mango Meltdown - A frozen drink of mango and strawberry flavors, so refreshing on a warm day at a waterfront restaurant! *Category 5 Crab Tots - neither of us really eat tater tots, but this menu item sounded too good to pass up. I'm glad we went with it because it was hearty and flavorful with all the tots, cheese, and lots of crab! *Crab Cakes - really good crab cakes, with plenty of crab. *Twisted Cauliflower - our server warned us these would be spicy, but we were okay with that. They definitely had a kick from thai sauce and hot honey, but nothing that made it uncomfortable to eat, the right amount of spice. We had ours grilled, and enjoyed every bite. Needless to say, we ordered a fantastic meal of appetizers to split while enjoying the waterfront view on a beautiful day. If you are in the area, I highly recommend! read more

Met a friend for lunch at Stormrunners this week. Lunch was good, but not wild about the place. It did not help that it was cold out with the wind. The food was good, we all had a version of grouper (bites, tacos, sandwich). Decent spice on the blackened fish. We did not have any drinks so no opinion there. Drink service was a bit slow at first. Today I took a leisurely stroll down the Pinellas Bike Trail and ended up at Stormrunners. It was a beautiful day with a great view of the inner coastal! I went up stairs and was greeted by CC and Amy Stormrunners Superstar Reps armed with a smile and bright personalities! Check out the food! My Burger was amazing and they customized it to my spec with Perfection! Can't wait to go back! Let's not forget the live one man band, "Big Gravy"!!! Fantastic atmosphere! Stunning view of the Boca Ciega Bay in historical Gulfport. Stormrunners gets an A+++ on capturing the beach bar vibe. Dogs are welcome on the patio. And there are a lower and upper levels for people only. There was a guitar soloist crooning in the background and to complete the island time feel. There was a nice crowd in this Saturday evening but still plenty of searing. They offer an exhaustive list of specialty cocktails as well as the staples, beer, and wine. The food is bar food basic but an a nice array that includes some local favorites like fish spread and grouper. I got the pork sandwich with house made chips and pineapple slaw. The chips were delicious. The sandwich was good but it was cold. still tasty and I ate it all up. My server was friendly and appropriately attentive. We really loved the views from the upper floor. Our server Cierra was nice and pretty attentive. The food was not bad but also not highly remarkable. My tater tots were the most flavorful part of the meal. The Korean Bulgogi tacos were unique but the meat was a bit tougher than it should be. read more

We went there with some friends for their "soft opening". Considering the place is not even officially opened yet, my comments are going to be about the physical space and bar area at this point. After they get up and going and have the kitchen with some experience behind it I will try to come back and leave a review on the food (they weren't serving food later on in the evening of their soft opening night). The place overall is really cool and you can tell a lot of effort went into the physical design. Perfect location on the corner in Gulfport and the second floor bar and viewing area will definitely be a fun place to go. They also have an outside area on the first floor that's very dog friendly that always adds to the atmosphere. We sat at the main bar on the first floor. Service was very attentive and all the employees seemed like they were really enjoying themselves and the crowd for the first night. Really positive atmosphere. Service was fast and the drinks were good. Prices seem very reasonable from looking through the menu. Giving this a five star for the soft opening and just based on physical layout, service and staff. I'm sure we will be coming back once they get their legs underneath of them and I will try to update this with more comments on the food. Definitely a place worth stopping in. read more

Let me start by saying that this was their first day with paying customers. Some say that you shouldn't review until a business has had weeks to get things right. I say this restaurant has 3 owners who all own other restaurants and this place should have all hands on deck for this opening. No manager ever came by to see how the food was and the tables were only half full. Overall the food was just ok with one big exception, the tortillas on the tacos were like trying to chew leather, completely inedible. Honestly dont know how you can possibly get them that tough and we have been eating tacos for over 4 decades. We told the server, said she would add it to the list for the manager. Messaged the restaurant and got a lukewarm reply that they mostly get great reviews. Ok, so not wowed by the food at all and will no doubt keep going to O'Maddys and Neptune grill which in 9 years we have never had a bad meal. The place looks great and I hope that they improve, but this was today's honest experience and that is what yelp and reviews are for. Perhaps if we eat here in the future with a better experience we will update with a better review. We wish them the best read more

The view from upstairs bar is incredible! Lots of Fans to keep you cool even in 85 degree heat. We sat at the bar upstairs and Chris was our outstanding bartender. The margaritas were great! We ordered the guava habernero wings well done and they came up quick and perfect. Next we tried the grouper tacos but asked to substitute blackened grouper instead of fried and chipotle remoulade instead of tartar, they obliged and they were great as were the fries. Our bartender thought we were on to something so he ordered the tacos the same way as us for his dinner and agreed they were fantastic! The hamburger was very good but the grouper nuggets appetizer was terrible, no way in hell that was grouper, that is basa all day. If it is not grouper call it fish fingers, there is a difference, maybe not if your from Kansas but I grew up up here and I am disgusted with the product you are claiming is grouper...,COME ON! read more

Still some work to be done in Gulfport. I think as Stormrunners gets through the storm rehab this place will be rocking. Downtown in general seemed very slow but it was just lunch on a Wed. So much work to be done still. I had a couple drinks (Captain/Coke was $8) and only a couple others came in for to eat. There was a group that came in that was maybe doing inventory or working on the menu or with a Beer or Food Service vendor that sat at the bar to conduct business that seemed to cause a bit of distraction from having good service. Well the setting is fabulous for this corner spot in Gulfport. Their burgers were fabulous before the inside kitchen opened.. We went there tonight, Roxanne was playing upstairs, music was great bartender was awesome, I ordered a medium burger with chips my wife had the fried shrimp basket. We were both a bit disappointed, burger was way too greasy and not great flavor, guess I got spoiled from cooking them on the grill.. The homemade chips had absolutely no flavor at all.. Kitchen staff, at least some salt when they are coming out of the fryer.. The fried shrimp basket for 17 plus had only 6 small shrimp, my wife said they were good but 6 shrimp does not make a basket.... we are locals and hope for better food next time.... read more
