I have resided in the great state of Maine for 8 years now and I have driven past Rick's so many times that I had to stop at this "tourist trap". We sat on the front deck and got two mudslides (it was my birthday and I wanted to feel like I was on a tropical island, with my fancy cold drink). We looked at the food around us and the prices on the menu. 18$ for nachos? Naw. I'm good. 9$ for jerk wings. No thanks. Our mudslides were 8$ each, but I hate to tell them that the reason it's called a mudslide is because of the chocolate syrup sliding down the side, which this drink lacked. Get it. Mud SLIDE... They tasted pretty good, like a milkshake and a cocktail had a baby. This and the location get them 3 stars. I would got back for a drink, but for the prices, would eat elsewhere. read more

Very disappointing and we don't plan to return. Having been customers of Ricks Cafe for many years, our family returned to Ricks each year during our family vacations on Long Lake. For many years we found the food and service to be excellent. Then, starting a few years back, the food quality and service started falling off and not quite the caliber we had come to expect at Ricks. Each year we found the food, drinks and service to become more disappointing and complaints went unaddressed as their staff was too busy to be concerned with addressing our issues. Oh Ricks, you did it again. While you have failed me in the past, I thought (any not by primary choice)... hmmm maybe one more shot. Alas, Ricks you were able to rival the extremely mediocre food with awful customer service. It was July 5 and we got a very late start on dinner. Our first choice was the Standard Gastropub in Bridgton (amazing.. 5 stars) but they were slammed and since it was getting close to 830pm we called a few places before we headed over and Bridgton was not able to accommodate. My wife (likely she will add her own "review") called and the manager told us to come over. The drive was maybe 10 minutes and we arrived around 845 to be told we would not be seated or served. To add fuel to this fire, it was my son's 10th birthday and he had his heart set on a good meal so we were already compromised just to consider this phony excuse for anything more than a good view. As we watched others with menus in hands and tables open, we were told we would not be served. Simply no. We then made it clear that it was our son's birthday and we had called first? The waitress was nice and said she would make it work but NOOOOOOO the manager intercepted and shut it down. When we called were not told to rush over and we were all standing in the place prior to the 9pm dinner cut-off. Was it that the chef was temperamental and would only drop overpriced food in a deep fryer prior to 9pm? Doubtful. The restaurant was quite full and they could have accommodated us if they had wanted. I guess they feel they dont need the biz. I have had 2 relatives work for this crap shack so I have countless stories that rival but this one was personal and unnecessary. Can someone/anyone please finally end the misery that is Ricks and replace it with something this community can be proud of? Until then, I hope their deep fryer rusts... Never again. No servers. All on-line. Worst system ever. And on top of all this they charge a mandatory 20% service charge which you agree to pay up front before any service is rendered. Don't be fooled by the crowd and local recommendation. This is a 2.5 on its best day. We were there on a Monday based on the hotels recommendation. The yelp reviews were bad, but the place was busy and the location was perfect so we decided to give it a go. The scenery was great, the lake was perfect. The service was friendly, but not very good. The food tasted average to below average. We never were offered refills nor were we able to ask for a refill because we did not see our waitress until she delivered our check and realized that we had not even got our food yet! Rick's Cafe is the closest thing to a staple to Naples Maine as anything else in this town best known as a summer lake respite... Rick's is located in an old building that evidently was a Casino in an earlier life- It hasn't lost all the gaudiness you'd associate with that genre as well... Not to say that Rick's is cheesey (it is) but it's still pretty cool, and the view at the end of Long Lake at sunset, is spectacular. Sun setting over the water and distant mountains can be breataking at times. By day and evening, the limited menu is on the high end, price wise (to be expected) and the selection is limited, but the food comes out quickly, and is tastey. You're not here for the presentation (think fried clams on paper plates) you are here for hte view, and don't want to change out of the flipflops and beat up swim suit and teeshirt you've been wearing all weekend while chilling on the lake... The service is terrible, but who cares, you are in maine and there's no rush anyways- what else are you gonig to do up here anyways? It's freakin Maine!!? At night, some people stick around for beers and there's live music on the weekends, but past that, you're probably better off hitting up Bray's down the street after hours. If there's nothing happening there? Well, you better get your ass to Portland, cuz there's nothin else to do in naples! read more

Disgusting. First, the hostess tried to push two little tables together for 8 people. Not only would we not fit, but there was a 3" difference in table height. Who's going to sit there? Then, we ordered chowder. It was COLD. Gross. We all sent it back. The meals were absolutely gross. We took the salad home to pick on, but once we got in the light, we noticed that it was all brown! Thanks to the dim lighting we didn't see that in the restaurant. On a positive note, the waitress and bus boys were very nice and pleasant. Will not ever go back. read more

great view, delicious cocktails, and incredibly tasty food! the lobster roll was pricey ($32) but the experience was great. usually don't expect too much from french fries, fried clams and potato salad but this was so great! our server haley also made our first visit great and i hope we'll be able to return to the area again in the future. read more

There is nothing exceptional in any way about their food except for the explosive and painful diarrhea my wife and I experienced after eating the meat nachos. When I write explosive, I mean it. When I write painful, I mean it. We almost took my pregnant wife to the hospital. For giving us food poisoning alone I would never go back but that wasn't the only thing that was awful about Rick's Cafe. The waitstaff was very young and inexperienced. Coming with four adults and three children, we asked to be seated outside. The waitress selected the blusteriest location in the whole of the deck - the other areas were protected by a fabric wind shield. We suggested alternative seating in the pretty-much-empty deck. She made some comment about not being able to push other tables together. We helped her by showing how two tables can be pushed together and not obstruct a fire escape. Our drinks were never refilled, we had to chase down the fellow (read: not our waitress) that delivered our food for cutlery, napkins, and the condiments that went with our meals. I don't want to go on and on. Rick's just isn't worth it. Basically, my advice and opinion is to avoid this place. There are many other delicious places in the area to eat. I don't know what all the fuss with the previous reviews is about. We ate here over the 4th of July week... very good albeit standard american bar-ish fare but with a tremendous view over Long Lake. Amazing outdoor seating with umbrellas and fans that kept us cool despite the 95 degree weather. Ricks has come along way over the past year. Their fish tacos are amazing! The views can't be beat! The staff is always super friendly. They are a tourist stop for sure! Favorite cocktail is the Stay cation. Great place to go with large groups plenty of space to accommodate. Then end the night with an ice cream at Honey Comb. read more

Came here for lunch today with my parents. Ricks has always been our go to place for the past 20 years camping up here. Today we were sat and literally waited 15 minutes for only Waters not knowing when our waitress would return. We planned what we wanted to order for when she does show up. After asking the host for some service and waiting another 5 minutes.. No one returned. We decided to head to another restaurant because no one seemed concerned that we waited almost 20 minutes. The hosts clearly did nothing about the situation and could've at least brought us more water.. Seeing as it's 85 degrees ! Very disappointed seeing as it's blues festival weekend and would obviously be busy. Being a restaurant manager, events like this means staffing up so you don't lose customers. My family and about 20 other family members will probably never be back. Such a shame it was a yearly vacation ritual to get mudslides. read more

Great view, very average to below average food, wal-mart plastic tables and chairs, brutally overpriced menu! $17 for a cheese quesadilla with no fries or any other side. I mean a soft taco shell and some cheddar jack cheese heated up. Kids instant and terrible macaroni and cheese is $9.00. Much better food at a fraction of the price at lots of other places nearby (try The Galley!). I would recommend avoiding Rick's unless you have a 90% off coupon. read more

I find it very hard at times to give a bad review...there must have been something ok? Well in this case, not at Rick's Cafe. I should say we arrived at 8:45pm on a Saturday evening and we quickly learned that a lot of restaurants close their kitchen's down at 9 or 9:30. In Rick's case it was nine, and from the second we walked in the door our hostess really made a point to drive home that we could not waste time and we would have to order right away. We were on board with that and ordered drinks and some jerk wings as soon as we could. The drinks came out fine and a few minutes later the wings came out as black as the night sky. Our server either did not notice or did not care and at this point it was already 9pm, and we decided to cut our losses. We stuffed down the burnt to a crisp wings after a long days work, and all sitting at the table vowed never to go back. I do not want to assume, but could this have a been a little sign from the kitchen staff? Like, don't come in 15 min before we close to order food... Regardless of the circumstances, we will spend our time and money elsewhere. Beyond that, the decor is cheap and half thrown together, the hostess was inexperienced Summer help, as well as the wait-staff and bus-staff. I will not be going back ever and I would recommend folks reading this review to not expect much...perhaps a better place to sit outside with a drink and skip the food all together. read more

I've come here many times over the years but this last visit was the worst. There's nice seating outside on the causeway but we decided to sit inside since it was so hot out. I hadn't been inside in a while but it's very outdated and the tables weren't very clean. The tables were sticky and the menus had sauce on them. The food was alright nothing special, in my opinion overpriced for the quality. Our waitress was very slow and inattentive she would be standing over by the bar talking to the other staff while we were waiting for her to take our drink order, bring us the check, or ask us if we needed boxes. Luckily another waitress noticed and actually came over to take our drink order and get us boxes. I wanted to leave her a tip and not the other one since she did most of the work. read more

Love Rick's Cafe ... right in the heart of the Naples Causeway. Great drinks and food ... stunning sunsets. New management (Wayne and Bailey) are hands on, customer focused and truly focused on the "experience". They are also very open to feedback and new ideas. I'm a local, I used to really dislike Rick's. Now it's one of my favorites in town. My family visits Rick's at least once a week. this place used to be great but now they use this new app to order food, there is no service, no one waits on you, the app is extremely confusing and doesn't work half of the time, also, the prices have gone through the roof but the food is still average, basically everything has gone up 5-10 dollars with smaller portions as well, honestly it's a shame because this place used to be great, a must miss on the causeway read more

I went there the other day with my son. I ordered a "grilled" veggie wrap. I was specific and asked if they could cook the veggies. Waitress said yes. I was served a cold veggie wrap ten minutes later which was cut in halves. Not realizing this at first, I took a bite. She returned a few minutes later to ask if everything else was ok. I said this is a cold veggie wrap and not grilled. She said "well I wrote grilled in big capital letters". She then ask " would you like me to have the other half grilled"? What??? Pathetic!!! First, I don't care for things like cucumbers that are grilled. This was cold salad ingredients in a wrap. She should have offered to take that back and have a "real" grilled veggie wrap. Great view of Long Lake and summer bustle on the causeway. Beware the lobster though, we ate there over Memorial Day weekend and my boyfriend who ordered the lobster roll got food poisoning and threw up the entire next day! He had ordered it before there in past seasons and never had a problem, it might just have been a bad batch or something since it was the start of the season. The prices are also over-inflated but if you are looking to be out and about, sitting outside, eating some typical summer restaurant fried foods, then it is a great place. I got the steak tip wrap, which was a solid 2/5 stars and the cucumber pink lemonade cocktail wasn't good at all, way too sweet and the lemon overpowered the cucumber completely. love rick's cafe! ever since I was little it has always been a family tradition to go here in the summer. the outside seating is great with a beautiful view and they have a lot of options on the menu. the only complaint i would have is that they don't let parties of 2 or 3 sit at the outside tables against the rail which are made to seat 4. i think that's a little nit picky and i think making the customers happy is important. i have had hostesses very extremely rude when denying us tables. read more

Great new owner and chef at Rick's Cafe on the Causeway in Naples, ME. The food and drinks were awesome! We spend a lot of time in the Naples area in the summer and haven't been to Ricks in years simply because the food wasn't very good. The new owner hired a new chef and revamped the food and drink menu. If you haven't been to Ricks recently, go back! Oh, and the views can't be beat. read more

We were seated quickly which was nice, and under the time the hostess estimated. It was all downhill from here. We had to download the menu using our phones and then choose our entrées from the menu on our iPhone. This is a much different experience than scanning a menu that you hold in your hands. I understand the technology is taking over in many restaurants, but it didn't work well here. Our orders got messed up due to the technology, but we had to place a yellow card up on a holder to notify someone to assist us. This was very impersonal and took longer than expected. We never received silverware or were offered condiments such as ketchup, salt, pepper etc. unless we placed the yellow card in the holder. We had a similar issue trying to get someone to come to our table when there was an problem paying the bill. Overall It was a poor experience, because the tip is included in the bill, patrons cannot under tip or over tip based on the quality of their dining experience. We will never go back! read more

Love Ricks!! Rick's Cafe has been a family favorite for 15 years. In the summertime, we come here for dinner with our friends once or twice a week. We are always pleased with the friendly and accommodating service, the delicious food, and wonderful views.
