We were both very disappointed in the fish, very thick batter, and thin piece of fish. A mediocre meal, sitting in plastic chairs, a tilted table, scanned menu on phone where we placed the order, and a difficult time paying by phone. Ricks cafe is only worth a trip if you can get a seat on the balcony over looking the water. Their ordering process is all online and customer service is sub par. My family paid to rent their balcony for a family event and I don't really know what they paid for except maybe to reserve the space. I sat at the bar upstairs and watched as their only bartender attempted to keep up with orders with no working printer for their online system. Came here for lunch and sat outside. The restaurant uses a QR for ordering for the table. The servers comes around to ask what we'd like to drink or to drop off food. The food is really not worth the money but the service and view were what made me support the locals, they took the service away so now all that is left is the view. On the food: drinks are decent. Sure during Covid we all got used to QR code menus, but you have to submit the order yourself, food didn't come out at the same time, someone different brings each item, they don't accept cash, and they include an 18% service fee and still want me to leave a tip. I'd say this would be more like 3ish star review, but Rick's Cafe totally does not deserve to be 2.5 starts on Yelp. First off, Rick's is under new ownership with a revamped menu and beverage program. Their menu has something for everyone, and (ridiculously) large portions of food. Seriously - an order of nachos was the biggest entree I've ever seen served in a restaurant. Starting with the location, Rick's cannot be beat. It's on the tip of the lake facing the sunset and it's really pleasant. We sat outside and witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets of the summer. The service was pretty good, a lot of young kids with summer jobs. We had the spicy watermelon margarita, nachos (HUGE), the lobster BLT, fried scallops, and the Roulette 22. Everything was decent, nothing in particular was a standout. Try to look beyond the star rating of Rick's because it really has undergone a revamp. I hope the owner stops this stubbornness with the ordering system before he kills this Naples icon. I have been coming here for decades and Ricks is on our rotation 4-5 times per summer. I miss the old menu where you could order an actual dinner like steak or ribs instead of only sandwiches. $22 for a hamburger is a bit of a stretch even with no tipping. While I personally do not hate the ordering by app, it definitely takes a bit of the experience of dining out away. It is also driving people away in droves. Seeing this restaurant empty and watching people walk in and then walk out when confronted with the app based ordering system is sad. I have witnessed this every single time I have eaten there. I had a 17 year old talk down to me for being confused with the ordering system and asking for clarification. Besides the pretty terrible service and servicing, their main menu item is nachos. Literally nachos. Baked on a sheet like you're at a friends house and then they charge you $20 for them, except you have to go through a very confusing, very awkward ordering system. Typical drink menu, but again, nothing special & terrible ordering system. The only redeeming factor, and why I feel good about giving this a 1 star is because of the location & outdoor seating in the summer - but that's it. Rick's uses a smartphone system - you scan a QR code for the menu, enter credit card info and basically manage your entire ordering process via your phone. The wait staff covers all the tables rather than being dedicated to one table. An automatic service fee/gratuity of 20% is added. If any of this bothers you or if technology is not your thing (and hey, that's OK too)- this place is not for you. The ordering process and auto fee is clearly explained on their website and when you arrive. That being said - great patio (great shade and ceiling fans all over), good view, good sized menu, good food. We had wings, chowder and the chicken quesadilla. The portions were generous and the food came quickly. Every server we interacted with was friendly and we got just as much attention as we would with a standard set up. The second floor dining patio looks amazing for a sunset cocktail. Personally I like their system of ordering and an auto gratuity of 20% ensures a living wage for wait staff. The best lobster roll I ever had because it was all knuckle and claw meat. Keep in mind though they don't put anything on the lobster itself so ask for mayo or drawn butter. The nachos were awesome. Came to this restaurant because it was literally steps from the lake cabin we were renting. There was a steady stream of people so it seemed a popular restaurant. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. Then it took a very long time to get our food. So much so that the manager deducted half of our bill. The food is good. They are busy and short staffed like most places these days. 5 stars for the staff. 4 for the food. 3 for the wait. If you aren't in a hurry, this is a lively place with good food. read more

I've been going to Ricks since it opened back in the early 90s. It was a fun place to get a good meal and some entertainment. Over the years, it's turned into a tourist trap with mediocre, over-priced food. No entertainment, minimal attention to decor/ambience, no service, a self-order system using an app on your phone, and limited interaction with a human server/staff. They also charge an automatic 18% service fee (I usually tip 20%, so by my way of thinking, this short changes the tip.) Supposedly, it's all with the intent of providing service staff with a livable wage. I'm not so sure about that. The only plus I see is being able to sit outside and watch the traffic and Long Lake. The chairs are plastic, tables usually sticky, with salt/pepper and utensils rolled in cheap paper napkins. Inside seating is just sad. I just don't get the attraction anymore. read more

We visit the area annually and what a let down. When I sit down at a place to eat I really don't want to be my own server.... QR codes for the menu.. that's what McDonald's does.. this place was insanely overpriced even for inflation. Overcooked $14.50 mozzarella sticks... how do you mess that up? There's no cheese stick on the planet worth $14.50. The steak quesadillas were folded grease taco's with extra cheese on the cheese. Not all of the food was bad but this setup, the direction, all of that and repeated subpar experiences from years past have popped the nail in the coffin on this one. We won't go back. Once I went for just drinks with my mother-in-law. We sat outside and I had a delicious spicy bloody mary. It was JUST how I like them. The server was really nice and the giant patio is fun to sit under. Then I went back last weekend with friends. It was 12 on a Sunday and I wished they had a brunch menu (they don't), so we just went for lunch... but still got bloody marys haha. The chicken sandwich was VERY good, it was huge, with quality ingredients. The severs here are really nice and it's a fun atmosphere. The only annoyance was a lot of kids sort of running around. I have been vacationing in Naples for as long as I can remember. I have been to Rick's on many an occasion, but never really felt compelled to write a review....until now. Let me start by saying the food was quick coming out and was decent food. It came prior to us getting our drinks, which wasn't ideal, but they arrived shortly after the food did. So, why only 2 stars? Well, let me start by the fact that you must order through a scan and order program, which is awful to navigate. Think Door Dash or Uber Eats where you see a menu and order. That's what you have to do here. You open the camera on your smart phone (out of luck if you don't have one), scan the QR code, and place your order. The wait staff is floating around and you can call one over to ask a question, but no personal service here at all. Besides that, prior to ordering you must enter your cc for payment (no cash payments at this place). Finally, at the end of your experience, when you do pay for your meal, there is a 20% service fee AUTOMATICALLY tacked on. Service fee? Seriously? When you click on info about the fee, it says it's to "offset the cost of running the business." Seriously? I called a server over and asked her to explain this fee. She stated it was actually the "tip" for the staff. I felt better about this because the staff was very attentive, but still. She did explain that the tip is split among all staff in the restaurant...from the kitchen staff, to the bartenders, to the hosts and wait staff. All in all, not a good experience, and I probably would eat here again as a last resort. read more

My husband and I were out for a ride on a Sunday and decided to eat lunch here. It was a gorgeous day in the Sabago lakes region and lots of people on boats, bikes, and cars were out and about. We requested as table for two in the patio out doors and were given a wait time of 15 minutes. While waiting we got some drinks from he bar, happy with the quality and quantity of our drinks. At 20 minutes we were asked if we would like to sit at our table and wait for food service or wait until the food service would be prompt. We took the wait a few minutes for the food. It worked out perfect since we ran into friends at our table. I ordered the lobster roll since a chicken Caesar salad was more expensive and my husband ordered the blooming onion and the casino burger. Service was great! Paige was friendly and available when needed. Lobster roll was nothing to write home about. Good lobster amply amount and a hot dog bun. Potato salad also nothing special but good. Husband was happy with his meal as well. Thought the wait would have been less, ample tables but he kitchen couldn't keep up with the busy Sunday crowd. Weekends in July are busy in Maine period.
