Have to use QR code to order food and drinks. Charge you an 18% service fee to use app! Then want a tip in addition to service fee! Ridiculous . Food expensive for what you get and not very good. Never going back to Ricks cafe as not worth the cost. Tourist trap in Naples . read more

We visit the area annually and what a let down. When I sit down at a place to eat I really don't want to be my own server.... QR codes for the menu.. that's what McDonald's does.. this place was insanely overpriced even for inflation. Overcooked $14.50 mozzarella sticks... how do you mess that up? There's no cheese stick on the planet worth $14.50. The steak quesadillas were folded grease taco's with extra cheese on the cheese. Not all of the food was bad but this setup, the direction, all of that and repeated subpar experiences from years past have popped the nail in the coffin on this one. We won't go back. What got me was the manager asked how it was... I was super polite and answered... and she says "why didn't you say something?" .. and I'm like "I just did...?" Then she walked away. read more

I have been vacationing in Naples for as long as I can remember. I have been to Rick's on many an occasion, but never really felt compelled to write a review....until now. Let me start by saying the food was quick coming out and was decent food. It came prior to us getting our drinks, which wasn't ideal, but they arrived shortly after the food did. So, why only 2 stars? Well, let me start by the fact that you must order through a scan and order program, which is awful to navigate. Think Door Dash or Uber Eats where you see a menu and order. That's what you have to do here. You open the camera on your smart phone (out of luck if you don't have one), scan the QR code, and place your order. The wait staff is floating around and you can call one over to ask a question, but no personal service here at all. Besides that, prior to ordering you must enter your cc for payment (no cash payments at this place). Finally, at the end of your experience, when you do pay for your meal, there is a 20% service fee AUTOMATICALLY tacked on. Service fee? Seriously? When you click on info about the fee, it says it's to "offset the cost of running the business." Seriously? I called a server over and asked her to explain this fee. She stated it was actually the "tip" for the staff. I felt better about this because the staff was very attentive, but still. She did explain that the tip is split among all staff in the restaurant...from the kitchen staff, to the bartenders, to the hosts and wait staff. All in all, not a good experience, and I probably would eat here again as a last resort. read more

My husband and I were out for a ride on a Sunday and decided to eat lunch here. It was a gorgeous day in the Sabago lakes region and lots of people on boats, bikes, and cars were out and about. We requested as table for two in the patio out doors and were given a wait time of 15 minutes. While waiting we got some drinks from he bar, happy with the quality and quantity of our drinks. At 20 minutes we were asked if we would like to sit at our table and wait for food service or wait until the food service would be prompt. We took the wait a few minutes for the food. It worked out perfect since we ran into friends at our table. I ordered the lobster roll since a chicken Caesar salad was more expensive and my husband ordered the blooming onion and the casino burger. Service was great! Paige was friendly and available when needed. Lobster roll was nothing to write home about. Good lobster amply amount and a hot dog bun. Potato salad also nothing special but good. Husband was happy with his meal as well. Thought the wait would have been less, ample tables but he kitchen couldn't keep up with the busy Sunday crowd. Weekends in July are busy in Maine period. Staff up people! read more

We have been customers for years, but we will no longer return. They recently switched over to a new system of no wait staff and you order and pay online. If this is the future for restaurants I'm not interested. What if you don't have a phone? Maine has a huge population of elderly and people on vacation, why would anyone want this option, it's like all takeout, but they give you a table. This was a horrible experience. I will not ever go back. read more

The QR code based ordering system is ridiculous. We do not want to serve ourselves at a restaurant. I truly hope this changes.

We both had the buttermilk chicken sandwich. They were absolutely dripping and soaked with watery cole slaw to the degree that my bun disintegrated. Fries were decent. The watermelon mojito was disgustingly sweet. The bow Thai (like a mai Thai) was also pure sugar. It was CLEAR so I am not sure how this was even remotely the drink it should be. The beers were fine. Service was ok. The bench in front of our table on the road became occupied and it really needs to be roped off as it's too close to the dining area (as are all the street benches) We learned this is under new ownership and are definitely disappointed. The total for two chicken sandwiches, two beers, and one drink was $90 with tip. read more

Rick's at one point was a great restaurant. I went back to Naples for the first time in about 5 years and I always used to eat at ricks cafe back in the day but This time the food was terrible. The prices are outrageous. I spent over $100 on two meals and two drinks. Even though the food wasn't good The staff was very friendly. read more

The mobile ordering was terrible, they claim it's for sustainable serving but yet they use plastic cups , by creating an account you have to include your credit card and agree to a 20% "restaurant fee" before knowing what kind of service your going to get. Our service was lousy, no dedicated server, no water refills without flagging someone down, that said, the food was excellent, they are really doing themselves a disservice by continuing the terrible mobile ordering. A nice menu, where you can compare multiple items at once just can't be replaced by technology. Sometime the old combined with the new is best, After our terrible service and the presumptive restaurant fee the app then requested an additional tip........... read more

Rick's Cafe was a favorite place of mine some years ago to hang out at listen to local bands. We went back this past summer to see what Rick's is like today and the experience was disappointing to say the least. Service: Slow; inexperienced server with attitude of indifference. Food: Below average in quality and taste. Typical American pub food without much creativity. Cost: Exceeds value. $ 13.00 for a burger, which was minuscule is outrageous. Venue: No vibe/aura; dirty. Sadly, Rick's, under new ownership is a tourist trap. However; Ricks once was an eclectic venue when it was owned by Rick Albert, who built the business but that was years ago. read more

I just want to say that I'm sick of apps. Here is another restaurant that has switched to no cash and you have to use your phone to place an order. Why do I need to use my phone at a restaurant? I'm here to interact with people not stare at my phone for 10 minutes looking at a menu. Where is the personal touch? Non existent. Just sit down order, pay and leave, that seems to be what is being asked. Too bad you need a smart phone to survive these days. What if my battery is dead?Am I out of luck? I will not be back to this restaurant again. Please stop the digital dining experience. I try and minimize my kids screen time and here I am using my phone at dinner. Rant over... P.S. I used to really like it here... read more

THIS IS THE FUTURE PEOPLE. All restaurants in Naples will soon be adopting this practice if we don't speak up! If you are not comfortable ordering and paying from your phone, don't stop in here. The BIG surprise is when you are checking out on your phone, there's a 20% "service fee" tacked on. This is NOT a tip, but rather goes to the overhead of the business. So add 20% to every item on the tiny menu that you can barely see on your phone. Then, in addition, add on your tip to the waitstaff, which there were only two of them when we were there. read more

Our annual visit to the lakes region in Maine and I was in the mood for a lobster roll and my wife wanted a lake view. This was perfect option for us! We arrived around 715 and sat on the outdoor patio (no bugs, slightly warmer in the patio than outdoors which was good, no wind) and enjoyed a beautiful sunset view on Long Lake in Naples, Maine. I love the REAL palm trees they have in the front of the store in Maine and the decor. There are TVs in the main restaurant if you want to watch the game. The service was excellent! The Lobster roll ($16) was VERY VERY good (but i have to admit I am probably not the one to judge these as this was my very first one). This came with fries (I believe there are other side options) but no onion rings. My wife had the burger and she enjoyed every bite. My son had the full belly clam plate ($26) which came with fries and coleslaw (which I ate and was quite tasty). For a beverage had the Maine local IPA brew ($8 for a small glass) which was very good. My wife had the raspberry frozen cocktail and was not happy with it. She sent it back and then fixed it (added more booze) but she wasn't happy with the lack of raspberry flavor but drank it none the less. This place is a little bit pricey but the view makes it work it! We would certainly go back. read more

Disappointing. I ordered a chicken bowl that looked great on the menu, but was extremely dry. My husband ordered a burger that was also very dry. The wait staff was great, attentive, but the food, unfortunately, was not enjoyed, and was a bit pricey, even in light of the current times. read more

Absolutely LOVE Ricks new mobile ordering system. You don't ever need to wait for a server to reorder a drink, just add a refill on your phone!! LOL at some of these one track mind reviews afraid to use their phone. You can use it all day long but freak at the thought of "having it at the table" at a restaurant but you will end up being on it anyways. I encourage everyone to have an open mind at a new concept. Not every business needs to operate under social norms. Sunset on the water and a blueberry lemonade cocktail is my favorite way to end the week :) read more

Not a fan of the only option for ordering and paying being through an app that requires your email and phone number to even look at a menu....you have to pay with a card, there is no cash option. Ordered a beer and 2 strawberry basil martinis. It was as if the bartender made one martini and split into two glasses. One wasn't full and the other had even less, with only half of the glass full. At $15 a drink the least you should be able to expect is a full glass.... read more

Great Location....if you get a chance to sit on the top deck in a swing....that is the way to go. Lake views are Stellar. BUT...Food is HORRIBLE. Frozen Fast Food presented as home made....WAY Overpriced! Mixed Drinks ....GROSS!!!! Tourist Trap.... If you do go....just get Nacho's and a Beer ....you may be safe with that. The owner makes a KILLING as Causeway's #1 Tourist Trap....he should think about putting that money into the quality of food and beverage. Service always seems scattered and Ladies room is Tiny and Gross as well...... read more

We came here as a group of 29 and wish we had read the reviews first because they're 100% right. First off, we had called ahead to make sure they could reserve the space for us and they said that they could. When we arrived, they had no record of this. Eventually we got sat, but they had one server to serve all 29 of us and it couldn't have been slower. It took about 30-40 minutes to even place our food order and another 45 minutes to get our food. We had a lot of kids with us so that was a huge inconvenience. We ordered the food for the toddlers first and when they came out, the waiter had forgotten one of the kids grilled cheeses. He said he would put the order in and somehow that was the very last dish received out of all 29 people. On to the adult food...I asked the waiter whether I should get the lobster roll or the lobster club. He recommended the lobster roll to me but apparently told another person in our party not to get it and I really wish he had told me the same. It was by far the WORST lobster roll I've ever had in my life. It could not have been less flavorful or drier. The only saving grace was the decent fries. Gosh the whole meal was just positively terrible and our experience could not have been worse. We had to go get ice cream after because most people couldn't stomach their meals. Avoid Rick's at all costs, trust me, you won't regret it!!! read more

Prices and new process are terrible. An additional charge is added for using the app they force you to use.

So sad. Total rip off. I've been going here since I was a kid. Now they make you order on your phone but still charge a mandatory 18% tip. Charge $3 for the kids frisbee plate. last time I'll visit here. read more

Been coming for 30 years and it gets worse every year. Now they barely have servers that take orders and it's all online. $100 for 3 sandwiches and a mandatory 20% gratuity? No thanks, will never be back read more

Calamari was from frozen and not fresh. Do not order. The ordering system is unique and you don't have a server. Way over priced.

Food was good, but for dining in, you have to order and pay yourself on your phone, with an 18% "service fee" added in at the end. Would be nice to have an actual waitperson when going out to dine rather than this mostly self-serve experience. read more

Very nice meal, great location. Lots of lobster in the lobster roll - delicious! We will go back again

Lack of patrons on a beautiful summer night should have been a clue. Food was mediocre. Still using the annoying QR ordering system. Drinks were inconsistent. Don't waste your money. read more

Good pub food. Staff very nice. Owner should not be in the hospitality business. We were at the restaurant on a Friday afternoon at about noon. A large party was seated before us (25). We were told 10 minutes for a party of 10. Plenty of tables open. But they wanted to wait because of the large party. Ok, we get that. After 15 minutes, I ask the front desk how much longer. The owner (Wayne Warren) says 1/2 hour. Huh? I said if it was going to be 45 minutes, he should've told us. We had hungry kids with us. I was told "if you don't like it, there is the door". By far the most unprofessional owner I have ever met. I will never spend my money at his establishment again. read more

We aren't tourist. we live in Windham. few miles away. Ricks is always a good place to go when the weather is beautiful and you want to eat outside near the water. When you can sit upstairs it's the best. The food is always good. not amaxing, but consistently good. We've gone a few times a year, for years. This year, clearly facing the same problems wit staffing as the rest of the country, they have adopted Toast, a cloud based website utilizing QR code table tents for access to ordering everything, and paying, with tip automatically added. While I get it, I go out to eat to be taken care of, to have needs met, drinks refilled. great location, consistent food. drinks are so so...$12 margarita all sour mix.... But bring back the waitstaff. I'd rather wait for everything than have the self checkout experience with a bunch of food runners and busters. read more

Don't listen to the bad reviews. Food was excellent- service was excellent. I had Mediterranean rice bowl- fresh great ingredients. My husband had lobster blt- excellent with tons of lobster. Kids had pasta and chicken tenders- bonus- comes on a frisbee. Great views and excellent food and service! read more

I really dislike my 90 year old parents, so it brought me great joy to see them struggle with trying to get the menu on their cellphone and then navigate the menu. They got increasingly frustrated and upset - they so loved Rick's for many, many years, and especially enjoyed when the owner, Ed, would come around. They asked if they could please see an actual menu, but they were told flatly, no. "It's the way of the future", the ... "server?" cheerfully stated. When we finally got the order in they were anxious as to whether or not it actually went through. It did, and quite a while later the chowder came out - a tiny bowl, but happily, the order got messed up and they brought my dad two bowls. Except they were both stone cold. And -the happiest part was seeing their dismay at being charged 18% for the opportunity to order bad food on a cellphone with no service. We will not be back. read more

Order and pay on your phone via QR code. Service sucks, food was mediocre and very overpriced. Drinks were very watered down and expensive, queso was very liquid, and our waitress barely check on us. Hate to see human interaction taken out of the ordering process. 18% service fee automatically added. Not worth it. read more

when I go up to Naples Maine i go to enjoy myself and relax and stay away from my phone or any other electronic device. I don't go to a restaurant to type in my credit card, order my food on my phone, forced to pay an 18% service fee, which I was not informed of, for mediocre food. I did not find any part of this relaxing at all it was actually quite frustrating. Give me a damn paper menu have someone come take my order and I can relax. it's called being waited on, I want to be waited on. very impersonal and Very frustrating. I am on vacation I am not here to do your work and then be forced to pay a service fee for minimal service and additional tip when I did the work my self. read more

They are using an app to order and pay. It works ok but ruins the experience. Food was just ok. We will not come back. Btw the aoo charges 18% service fee so don't leave a tip. read more

Do NOT go to Rick's Cafe on the Naples Causeway. Yes there's a QR code for the menu, but then you have to order on your phone, with no substitutions. PLUS they add a 20% service charge. But, guess what, there's no service. They throw the food at you when it's ready. Tons of people standing around with nothing to do. I guess they train them how to throw the food at you, cause that's all the servers are doing. Terrible system. Talked to the manager about their system, and she said, 'well we like it'. Hmmm! Rick's Cafe used to be a great place. No longer! read more

You are on your own while ordering with the QR ordering system, so no questions please. Atmosphere is cold and patrons are left feeling unappreciated. Food is Ok but pricey and hefty tips are included in the bill, even though there is limited interaction with the staff and poor service. Any other restaurant in Naples is a better option. read more

The QR ordering system is absolutely terrible. There is no point going to a restaurant when the ordering process is basically the same as Door Dash or Uber eats. All the food (appetizers and main dishes) came all at once, which is barely better than eating at a fast food chain. This place used to a be great summer hangout. Will not eat here again. read more

We went in for a relaxing lunch and were so frustrated by the contactless ordering system, that we saw others tables struggling with, that we would have walked out if not for the time already spent with the contactless parking! The restaurant had very few wait staff and we found out why. They say they pay their staff well enough that tipping is not necessary. That sounds really good! However, they only hire the minimum and expect the customers to use a phone or computer to order from. The few waitresses who were there were very nice but seemed equally frustrated by the constant need to address the ordering system. I did not feel safe having to get an app and then put in my details and card number. The food took a considerable time to arrive and only 5 tables were occupied. The fish tacos were ok, and the drinks standard. My family and I will not be returning and we do not recommend this place. Sad that once again profit is placed over service. read more

Not only is this place not following CDC guidelines, they are unbelievably disrespectful to anyone who calls them out. Rick's Cafe - Cafes Near Me - Naples, Maine

Yesterday evening we were informed by the hostess that alcohol would not be available for purchase since the liquor license had been revoked earlier that day. Not a problem, so we made a takeout order at the bar. A young blonde woman took our order and then proceeded to tell us that the health inspector had shut them down and they DID NOT actually have a license to sell food. That they were asked to comply with mask regulations and refused. I figured they got unlucky with some under 21 alcohol drinkers... nope. I asked "Why stop at food and not serve drinks?" and was told the fine is much higher for unlicensed alcohol sales. It was very clear from her statements and the lack of health concerns across the staff that Ricks is not the type of place I trust during Covid-19. Mask below nose or entirely off and only putting it on when walking to a table. Clearly, the staff feels they are somehow exempt from protecting patrons and fellow citizens by following simple regulations. On the way out I said to the young woman "why can't your expeditor wear a mask... he's not even in the kitchen where it is super hot...breathing on top of every dish... touching his face also" She said that people are entitled to their opinion. I told her they deserve to be shutdown and that it is totally irresponsible, selfish and shameful to blatantly ignore health and safety measures. "You don't have to be a customer here" Trust me, I won't be one ever again. read more

Ricks has been our go to for a night out with family when we're up at the lake for the past 15 years. We went out with my sister in law and her family. THERE NEW DIGITAL ORDERING SYSTEM IS AWFUL!
