As soon as we walked in we were greeted with a smile and a kind welcome. The young lady at the front seemed to be handing all of the orders on her own and had done a fine job if you ask me. The food is DELICIOUS! I had the wings and the fried catfish with fries and Cole slaw; I made my own fish boy. I loved it! No complaints here. Owner Gus and staff are fantastic and the food is just as good. The sweet tangy bbq sauce on rib tips is bustin, delicious. Rickette's World Famous Fish with secret Chicago style batter has just the right amount of spicy kick, (perch, catfish, whitefish and shrimp) you won't find fish any better. Other offerings include wings, mixed chicken, a variety of sides and make sure to get the Chicago Italian Beef sandwich with dipping sauce, found only at Rickette's. Listen...can we talk about how good this food was? I don't eat pork so I was thrilled to see that Rickettes sold Turkey Tips! They were so delicious and smokey. That Bar-B-Q Sauce is the truth. It's the sweetness for me. The greens reminded me of the mixed greens that my mom makes. Sooo good. And I can't even lie, the Service was A1! I had gone in there once before towards the beginning of the year just to get a menu because I was fasting. But the smell from outside draws you in. I told them I would be back when my fast was over, and the day it was over I went, LOL! I was NOT disappointed and I can't wait to go back. Also, shrimp dinner with bake beans and catfish dinner with french fries. You could tell the fish and shrimp were fried in old grease and the bake beans taste straight out of a can. We ordered catering to go for a birthday celebration. The owner took the time to personally help it. It really made the total experience great. We got a variety things. The star of the show was the turkey leg. It was juicy and well seasoned! No sauce needed my second favorite was the turkey tips. That sauce was amazing. With the fries it reminded me of home. (I'm from Chicago.) The Mac and cheese and green beans were phenomenal. We also got traditional tips but I didn't try those. EVERYTHING my fork touched was delicious. My first experience customer service was awful. I drove 30 minutes to try what I heard was some amazing bbq. The hours of business clearly state they close at 10 PM. I got there at 8:01 and was told they was not taking any more orders and that they close early on Sundays so I asked what were the hours she said they close whenever it may be 8 o'clock, 830, 9 o'clock, it's whenever they feel like it and of course she said this very very rudely there was no apology. It was just very very poor customer service. Here is my issue with black owned businesses. I would like to say... I am from Chicago so naturally when I ran across this business I was thrilled, particularly because of native chicago owners AND turkey tips. To my dismay... I attempted to call in an order and was advised by a courteous gentleman that I could place the order only their site for pickup. He went on to say that there was multiple accepted payment options. I called the establishment AFTER attempting to place an order online as I was directed ONLY to get to the payment section and there was only a cash app OR credit card form of payment accepted I called to notify the business hoping that MAYBE there was another option... the female who answer the phone today stated "well I don't know what's going on Because we been getting online orders all day" OK...
