Instead, he insisted on putting it in a different spot, assuring me that he had leveled the ground and that it would be fine. The pool looked okay at first, but it only lasted one season. Last year, the liner ripped, and I initially thought it was my fault. This year, I had another pool professional come inspect it, and they immediately pointed out that the original installation was done very poorly. They found that there were tree roots underneath the pool that had continued to grow, causing the ground to become uneven and the pool to lose its level. I was also told that the area should never have been used in the first place because of the roots. I trusted his judgment when he assured me the spot was properly leveled, but it turns out that wasn't the case. While the pool may have looked fine initially, the poor placement and installation ended up costing me a damaged liner and additional repair expenses just a year later. I would not recommend this service based on my experience. If I could give a 0 star;I would.

The repair was to fix a leak and guess what, after the repair, we still had a leak! We had to hire a new company to fix the work they did. They used old material to trim out our steps which lead to the continued leak. I would not use this company again even if the work was completed for free! They also tend to avoid your calls. You will need to call or text at least 5-6 times before they follow up if they follow up at all! Terrible workmanship and customer service.

Within 5 minutes of walking into the store Matt the manager had the cleaner apart and knew exactly what was wrong with it. He ordered the part and within days my cleaner was back in my pool working. I also had my water tested there and purchased some supplies. His entire team was very knowledgeable and extremely courteous . They didn't try to sell me things that I didn't need. He recommendations wasn't exactly inline with my ideas but base on what I had previously read about the company before actually meeting him along with his knowledge and experience in the pool industry I trusted his views. The project was planned for March 2023. Fast forward to now the team came in and did exactly what we discussed there were some minor chances which was done with further advice when I met Derick " very nice guys he is a customer pleaser he ensure that you are 100% happy or the job is not done". I have been in the construction industry for 15 years and I have worked with pool companies on several different occasions and believe me this is the first I'm meeting and working with a company where everyone affiliated with the company from the owners down to all the workers are honest, hardworking, polite and very professional. I'm pleased to have met and work with them, I will continue to work with them going forward and I will recommend them to all my family, friends, acquaintances and business associates. These guys don't get 100% in my book they get 110% for going the extra mile in costumer's satisfaction, their prices are very reasonable and economical base on market value with you also getting value for every dollar. I did my research and interviewed a few pool builders (there aren't many options in NYC), and I confidently went with Pete & Pat. What stood out immediately was how sincere and honest they were with their advice about my backyard. Initially, I had a lot of bells and whistles in mind--which, honestly, would have meant more money for them. Instead, Gus Pools actually talked me out of several things. They explained that some of them really weren't necessary, but told me that if I insisted, they would still do them. Thankfully, I took their advice because the pool came out amazing, and I ultimately realized I didn't need any of that extra stuff. Once we finalized the plans, the rest was a breeze. Everything was done on schedule, and they were honestly no bother at all. They went straight to the backyard and rarely needed anything from us. One thing I really appreciated was how well they coordinated with Middle Village Construction and Breezy Electric. Bonnie was always happy (and patient!) to take our calls (sometimes there were many ) and give us updates on the project. To be transparent, Gus Pools recommended Middle Village Construction, and their quote for the pavers was comparable to the other contractors I spoke with, so I went with their recommendation. It ended up being a great decision because everyone was able to coordinate seamlessly. I also used my own electrician, Breezy Electric, and Gus Pools were just as professional when he had questions about the pool construction, lighting, and grounding. That kind of communication between contractors made the entire project so much easier. All in all, if you're contemplating making a major investment in a pool, just go with these guys. You won't be disappointed. And now, two years later, I can say that the service has been just as good. They continue to service my pool, including opening and closing it, and they've helped with any issues or mishaps along the way. They keep records of your warranties, equipment, hardware, etc., which makes things much easier down the road. At one point, I had an issue with one of the pumps and Bonnie promptly set up service. Pat came by and fixed it at no charge. That says a lot about the kind of company they are. For anyone complaining that they don't service pools they didn't build, take it from someone who had more than 10 different people come out to look at and potentially renovate my old pool. It's difficult to take over someone else's build, know exactly how everything was installed, and then be expected to stand behind a warranty. I completely understand why they operate the way they do. Two years later, I'm still extremely happy with my decision to go with Gus Pools. Highly recommended.

Pete and the team at Gus Pools are hands down the best contractors we've ever worked with-- period. Honest, reliable, incredibly responsive and fairly priced. (In fact their prices are too reasonable and should be raised!) Just nice, decent folks you don't see much of these days. His recommendations were also fantastic- we used his mason, Eddie who was also amazing. And his architect Genarro Finelli. I saw some negative posts by a few haters about not being able to get Gus to service certain people's pools, because they weren't built by Gus. That just motivated us to have Gus build our pool so they could service it!
