Andy Payne has been our contractor since 2007 when we bought a fixer-upper. The project was done in…read morethree phases. The first phase was a gut renovation on the house, including all new electric wiring and plumbing and conversion from oil to propane. We completely renovated one bathroom and created a second in what was a small bedroom. Custom stone work on the outside of the house and new cement-based shingles on the house. New wide oak flooring throughout the first floor, new kitchen, an elevator, a partially finished basement rec room and extraordinary details throughout, such as custom woodworking in many rooms. After the first phase, I wasn't interested in estimates from any other contractors. This was my responsibility to oversee, as my husband didn't have the time to deal with the details. I was extremely pleased that Andy listened to me and more importantly, not only heard what I was saying, but also discussed it in a way that was professional and thoughtful. The end result of our many discussions led to a perfect result. The second phase was an addition to the main floor adding a new master bedroom suite, laundry room and front entrance. The third phase was a pool and pool house. The pool house has a stone façade, cedar interior, shower and changing room, two-piece powder room, custom benches, storage and space for a refrigerator. The attached pavilion has a cedar ceiling, gas lighting (also around the pool decking). We had unexpected drainage issues and these were dealt with quickly and thoroughly We appreciate of the high level of sub-contractors Andy retains; and their sensitivity and deference to someone's living space, especially during phase two. What could have been a very difficult period of having the addition put on with the daily presence of workers was surprisingly easy. They were all gentlemen and very neat. We admire the craftsmanship of our home everyday and are so grateful for Andy's expertise and professionalism. I very heartily recommend him.

Among the many people worth a shout-out: designer Chaya Uzan whose enthusiasm and ideas gave us a sense that our project was quite special; and Robbie Goldberg, our day-to-day contact and project manager, who brought a craftsman's eye to all aspects of the job. When problems were encountered, problems were fixed. An example: once we installed a new oven in the kitchen we realized that we would have to do without a favorite built-in spice cabinet. Robbie came up with ingenious fix requiring some custom carpentry so that the spice rack did not disappear but became an integral of the whole. Anthony, our renovation expert, was our first contact with A to Z. He encouraged us not to give up on what we wanted the project to look like even though other renovators had told us it was impossible to do. He also offered to answer any questions we might have along the way. Then there's Shevy, the permit and insurance coordinator. She dealt with the necessary paperwork and kept the inspectors at bay so we did not have to deal with those headaches. And last but not least, Mario, the site manager, who was there every day, hands-on, always professional and pleasant. On that note, the entire team seemed to like one another and treated us and each other with a refreshing degree of decency and consideration. To summarize: The team at ATOZ was thoroughly professional and kept us informed with clear, consistent communication every step of the way. I never saw cabinet door samples, or a samples of anything ( backsplash tile, floor choices, etc) and I never got an estimate of how many square feet of cabinets of counter tops that were needed. ( and how that translated to the overall cost).I guess they can tell after a few photos and a measure how much it will cost. I really like to use local contractors, but stay away from this one. They only want to do remodels for people who have loads of money and don't have to worry about overall cost.

Review updated I…read morehired Spotless Gutters for a $1,600+ gutter cleaning and house wash. I specifically instructed technician to remove my gutter guards and set them aside next to the house because he said they didn't have time to reinstall them. I never authorized anyone to take them off my property. When I got home, every gutter guard was gone. The company initially told me there was "nothing they could do" and falsely claimed that my wife and I had approved their removal and disposal. Only after I pushed back did they admit their technician still had them. What followed were multiple broken promises and three failed attempts to return my property, including sending a technician out who performed another gutter cleaning instead of returning the guards. When the gutter guards were finally returned, they were damaged and unusable. Replacing and reinstalling them will cost approximately $2,000-$3,000. To make matters worse, I specifically instructed the company to clean the downspouts as part of the service. After the first significant rainstorm, the downspouts backed up all the way through the drains and overflowed, showing the drainage system was not functioning properly after the work they performed. After paying over $1,600 for professional gutter cleaning, I expected the gutters and downspouts to drain properly--not back up during the first storm. I had to go out multiple times to tap out all the debris from the downspouts. As if that wasn't enough, the company later recharged my credit card for the same $430 partial refund they had already issued. I never authorized this new charge. I have reported it to my credit card company as part of my ongoing dispute. This is now the third time I've used Spotless Gutters, and I deeply regret ever trusting them again. Between removing my property without permission, making false claims about authorization, damaging my gutter guards, repeatedly failing to keep their promises, leaving my drainage system backed up, and attempting to take back a refund by charging my card again, this has been the worst customer service experience I've ever had. I have filed a credit card dispute and a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. I strongly recommend avoiding this company. My experience was one of damaged property, poor workmanship, broken promises, and unauthorized charges. I will never use Spotless Gutters again.
