Had a Birthday dinner for my Mother in August. When you go to a nice restaurant and and the dress code is "dressy" and patrons are in shorts, tee shirts and flip flops and the code is not enforced it's hard to justify spending $500.00 plus and want to return. The food was wonderful. I had the surf and turf with a Caesar salad. The filet was cooked perfect. The steamed vegetables were awesome. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and I thought they went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. But, the best part of the whole meal was the desert. I have been here several times with my boyfriend over the last year and every time I come to visit him we have to go eat here! The food is insanely amazing and by far some of the best I have ever eaten. Tonight we visited again and we were saddened to hear the calamari was sold out; not surprised because it is heaven on a plate! Evan waited on us and he has before but he really made tonight great. I wanted to try something that was on the restaurant week menu so he checked with the kitchen and told me that I could get the lobster carbonara. I am not a bacon fan and asked if I could have it without, but he told me that it was already mixed in so I said I would pick around it. A little while later the food came out and he mentioned it took longer because he asked the cooks to make a fresh batch without the bacon. We were visiting Clemson for a wedding, and had the pleasure of having dinner at Rick Erwin's. Our waiter, Danny, welcomed us with great service and southern charm. Started with a chopped salad that was lightly dressed with fresh vegetables. We ordered the bone-in ribeye steak. Seasoned and grilled to perfection. Ranked as up there with the best quality and prepared steaks we have had at a restaurant. We ordered several sides, whipped mashed potatoes, hoppin john's and steamed broccollini. We were sadly disappointed the last time we were at dinner there to celebrate our Anniversary, as we had a great time on prior occasions. We found BUGS crawling in the salad! The waitress was initially not apologetic, only saying that the salad is grown onsite (as if this is acceptable for having live bugs?!) We also told her that there was a lactose intolerant guest, and on more than 2 occasions she brought us food that would trigger the allergy! One of the guests also never got their dinner until everyone else had almost completed theirs! The waitress forgot to include it when we all ordered! We did not even get an apology at the end from a Manager, or compensated. Needless to say, we left very disappointed. read more

So thankful Rick Erwin's came to town. We have enjoyed many meals here and we are never disappointed. Our waiter tonight Jake was affable and professional with a pleasant demure. The mussels appetizer was the best mussels we have ever had and we frequently have them in Bermuda and Italia. The introduction of southern flavors with many of their dishes is a delight. A bit of bacon and onions cooked until sweet with their Brussel sprouts, made in house andouille sausage and of course Clemson Blue Cheese. The goat cheese incorporated into the mashed potatoes in the Mixed Grille was a delicious. 5 stars! read more

My buddy and I went to RE after a Clemson Basketball game recently and it was a good experience. I ordered one of the specials, the Kansas City bone-in strip, unfortunately I was told several minutes later that they were out. So, I re-ordered the Delmonico, which was okay. I have had better steaks at Ruth's Chris (Atlanta) and Mastro's (Beverly Hills). The loaf bread provided was very good. We shared the tempura broccoli and mushrooms. The broccoli was excellent and the mushrooms were decent. In addition we spit a bottle of Terra Valentine (Cab). So, for $200+ was it memorable? Not really, but I would go again to further explore the menu. read more

On Friday night, 02/13, we had a party of four with reservations at 7 PM. Although we were seated very quickly, the service was extremely slow. Took an hour and 45 minutes before we got our food. I have been to Rick Erwin's many times in downtown Greenville and in Clemson. I was a little disappointed this time in Clemson. The service was good but not as good in the past. I like to order food that I normally do not cook at home. Therefore I ordered the Veal Marsala. Although it was seasoned well the meat was tough. My family had dinner on Monday 4/27/2015 my wife and I took my 85 year parents for a celebration. They tried to order the Wagu sliders and they were out and the chef refused to accommodate with something else. So we ordered the crab cake appetizers for my folks and they charged us the entre price. I was under whelmed with the service and food quality for the price. Not worth the visit. Clearly this restaurant is high end and VERY expensive but everything is perfection. It was my wife's birthday and there is no classier way to entertain a love one than with Rick Erwin. Absolutely WONDERFUL! The ambiance, the service, and our meals all deserve 5 stars! Excellent restaurant! We had a party of six and no one was disappointed! Three of us did the three for thirty menu and three ordered from the main menu. When they tell you 1/2 portions of sides will serve two or three, that is accurate! Salads, whipped potatoes, collards, ...So much food! Delicious bread, amazing she crab soup with lots of crab, perfect salmon, scollops, fried oysters, chicken marsell, & incredible cream bruelet and chocolate cake were perfection! Had a 5:30 reservation and were celebrating my son's successful semester. Although there were plenty of seats open when we arrived, we were placed in the corner of the back room at a table that was clearly not set correctly (no napkins or bread plates). It was at least five minutes before anyone came to great us and asked if we'd like water. The server was pleasant but not polished. The bread arrived after our appetizers. The crab bisque was delivered without a soup spoon. We had to flag someone down for a spoon. The calamari was a bit rubbery and I'm not sure what kind of sauce was on it but it wasn't marinara. I specifically asked our waiter if the veal marsala was good and he assured me that it was delicious. There was no marsala taste in the sauce at all. It was a congealed brown sauce that was extremely overcooked (almost a burnt taste). In addition, the veal was tough, so I ended up eating just the spinach and mushrooms. My son's ravioli in cream sauce with chicken was another let down. The ravioli's were overcooked and mushy and the chicken was rubbery. My husband did enjoy his seared tuna and said it was done perfectly. One thing I noted was that when our dishes were brought out, the server did not know who got what dish and had to ask. In a "fine" restaurant, the server should never have to ask "who had the veal?" Our waiter was apologetic about the veal marsala and asked if we'd like dessert "on the house." At that point, we just wanted to leave. He did comp us for the veal dish. After having eaten at both Rick Erwin's in Greenville and having exceptional meals there, this was a huge disappointment. The deviled eggs and beignet appetizers were amazing. My crab cakes Benedict were delicious and all five in our party were delighted with their entrees. The entire waitstaff were top notch! read more
