We were warmly greeted by the hostess, and were immediately sat (make a reservation). Jess was our waitress and she was the best. She made some accommodations for us and was attentive. The vibe is very cool with indoor and outside individual fire pit seating. The ribeye was tender, flavorful, and feed my Mom and I. The whipped potatoes were light and delicious. I stopped in for a nightcap after having dinner elsewhere and sat at the bar. Service was decent and the venue is pretty modern and appealing. They have a cocktail menu called and it listed a whiskey-based drink called the Sunset Rider, which sounded amazing, but I'm not as much into whiskey as I am vodka, so I chose the Espresso Martini instead. What a phenomenal experience we had at Larkin's at the bar Memorial Day weekend, Saturday afternoon with an amazing staff. L.A Marais, our main bartender, was truly the stand out. She went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed at the perfect temperature in a timely faction with perfectly crafted drinks. A great way to spend an unexpectedly rained out Memorial Day weekend. Five stars and then some for everything! Management was on top of everything all around. Truly impressive and beautifully ran establishment. I look forward to spending many more afternoons here. The crabcakes and the she crab soup were phenomenal! Absolutely delicious meal, and a great evening being taken care of our "host" Phil! The lump crabcake appetizer was outstanding, and that's coming from a couple that lived in Baltimore for 15 years, Phil promised we would not be disappointed and we were not. For entrées, we had a perfectly cooked fillet mignon and the scallops on risotto (as a substitute for the okra at Phil's suggestion) was absolutely delicious. For dessert, we tried the Tres Leches cake , which was some of the best we've ever had, unlike many that are soaking wet, this was a delightfully light cake, and a giant piece easy to share. The flavors of the food we ordered - really tasty. At a table of 4, we ordered 4 different steaks & everyone agreed that they tasted really good. Wagyu skirt steak, prime filet, wagyu filet & wagyu New York strip. Mashed potatoes are a must - really tasty. Asparagus - quite good. Jambalaya risotto - I would pass on this. Didn't feel at all like risotto - seemed like a bland jambalaya. Service - could use some work. Kind enough staff, if they make it to your table. Waited a long time just for water - maybe 15 minutes. And the restaurant was not at all busy - not even 1/4 full. That timing continued throughout the night. Lots of apologies about the waiting but it never changed the attentiveness really. Salad came before drinks. Etc. Service is why I can't give more than 3 stars. When you pay this much for dinner, great service is expected. And the only other area that I can say could use some attention is presentation. Small 6 or 7 oz steak on a plain white plate. Looks unfinished. No garnish. Sides all come in separate dishes which is obviously for sharing but the portions aren't large enough to serve it this way. The plates just look bare when they are delivered. I came by here for the chocolate cake after having dinner somewhere else and was immediately reminded of why I hadn't been here in so long. The service at the bar is atrocious. I sat down and waited and waited (they were not busy) and finally someone gave me a menu and then he disappeared for quite a while. There was a young lady behind the bar who finally came and took my simple order. She brought me my espresso and then my dessert arrived. I asked her for silverware and she pointed at the coffee spoon and said 'you mean more than that?'' I said yes I'd like an actual fork please. The guy across from me overheard this and told me he had a similar experience months ago and that the service is always terrible. The bar team is more invested in cleaning up than actually checking on the five people sitting at the bar. And not very friendly. This happened last time I was here a year ago. Just awful. read more

Wouldn't recommend this place, let me break it up: We went for happy hour on a very warm day, since we were bringing our dog, they offered us a table on the patio. It was sunny and 83 degrees outside, they had some umbrellas next to the tables but the one they offered us was still sunny so when we asked for a different table with more shade, our host simply left us he had a terrible attitude. There was a discrepancy between what the menu said and what we got charged for. Menu stated that during happy hour the oysters are $1, but they were actually $2. We were charged $6 for martinis that should have been $5, and the menu items were meant to be half price, but they were charged full price for a couple of them. Although I don't think pricing is excessive, you shouldn't say one thing on your menu and charge something else entirely different. The food was ok--nothing particularly noteworthy. The steak frites were the best so far; the meat was juicy, soft, and tasty. The calamari was good too, but there was a hair on them. read more

Dinner, Friday 2/6/2025. Service was really good (tonight was our servers last night before moving to Charleston). 2 meals, 4 drinks from the bar, shared dessert and tip---$285.00. My wife had the 7 oz. Filet and I had the 16 oz. Prime Ribeye, both ordered Medium. They were actually cooked to medium rare, but that was ok...we both enjoyed the steaks and didnt even mention to our server. For dessert, we had the white layered cake. Fantastic! The only real downside to the actual meal....the mashed potatoes and the broccollini had very little flavor. It's almost as if they were just place fillers on the plate. My wife and I regularly dine at downtown restaurants that play in this more upscale dining space and I couldn't help but notice something different here last night. The man at the front door, I'd assume the GM or Floor Manager, was literally wearing gray men's joggers that were made to resemble jeans, with tennis shoes. Just because you put on a sport coat with this ensemble doesnt elevate the wardrobe to a level that would be expected at this price point. No managers at Rick Erin's, Hall's or Bricktops would present this way. Maybe its just me being 54 years old and a bit "removed" from what's trendy or fashionable today. Bar staff for such a higher end restaurant needs to clean up and be more professional,,, (compare to BrickTops which is top shelf professional. Attire, service, attention.) Beat up black T-shirts and old jeans are not what this beautiful spot deserves. Unfortunately Larkins will be one of our standard stops any longer. Also they served spinach artichoke dip with potato chips because they ran out of pita/ nacho chips...it was odd and didn't go together that well. My dirty martini.was so so...it was " clear dirty mix".. I would NOT order this again.. it was like salty vodka .. not even that cold and no blue cheese olives... A Father's Day Fiasco at Larkin's - A Meal Best Forgotten What was supposed to be a celebratory Father's Day brunch turned into a two-hour culinary trainwreck, thanks to the bafflingly bad service and dismal food at Larkin's (32 E Broad St, Greenville, SC). We arrived full of excitement but left full of regret. From the moment we walked in at 11:15 a.m., the experience was a slow descent into disaster. It took two full hours for my parents to get through a meal that was barely edible and certainly not enjoyable. No wonder the waiter never told us his name. The waiter seemed lost in a fog of confusion. When I ordered shrimp and grits (clearly listed on the brunch menu), he confidently told me it was a dinner item. I had to show him where it was printed under 'Brunch', only to be met with a blank stare and a half-hearted excuse. Things only went downhill from there. My father's simple request for steak, mashed potatoes, and vegetables turned into a tragic comedy of errors. First, after putting in our orders, the waiter came back about thirty minutes later and said there were "no potatoes of any kind, except fries". LOL ... fine. My dad settled for steak and vegetables. Another twenty minutes later, our server returned to let us know there were no vegetables either. What arrived instead (after patiently waiting over an hour) was huge plate with a burnt hunk of meat and a side of nothing! This is what Larkins served my wonderful dad for Father's Day! His plate was a dry and joyless as our experience turned out to be. And my mother's meal? A beet salad with salmon that looked like it had been fished straight from a bonfire and placed on top of a bed of wilted weeds. Apparently, someone in the kitchen thought it was clever to plate the burnt side down, as though we wouldn't notice their presentation trend. We did. It was shameful, for the waiter, the kitchen staff, and Larkin's management. Any place that serves food this carelessly and with such little regard for their guests should be embarrassed to call itself a restaurant. We came to Larkin's expecting a warm, memorable brunch with family. What we got instead was the kind of meal that makes you want to write a scathing review. So here it is. The only silver lining? Asking for the check and having it arrive swiftly so we could make our escape and find a restaurant that respects its guests and knows the difference between a delicious food and burnt offerings. read more

She crab soup was good but again not as good as Fall For Greenville sample. Mine had lumps of corn starch in it. Needed to be blended better. We had the salmon and spouse had halibut.. We didn't expect it to be served in a bowl all items on top of one another. Chef suggested it be cooked "medium ".. actually was raw in the middle. My husband's halibut was served over a "soupy" concoction that was just a messy looking unappealing tomato based zucchini whatever... I didn't even want to try it. His halibut was RAW. Transplant individuals CANNOT eat raw meat. On top of the raw halibut was a "salad" that tasted like liquorice.. His meal was unacceptable. Chef Ramsey would have spit it out and yelled at everyone. Do not go for restaurant week! First, the restaurant week website said that Larkins had steak as part of their 3 for $55, when we got to the restaurant we found out that it was taken off, and the steak was the main reason we chose this place. Then we did the math and found that if we were to order our 3 choices á la carte, the deal would only save us $1... that's if the portions were the same but they weren't. My friend ordered the wings off the menu while I got them through the restaurant week choices and she had more wings than I did, making their "deal" not a deal at all. I had brunch at Larkin's during my trip to Greenville. It is a short walk from the Peace Center so was very convenient for the theatre performance. I wasn't a fan of the booth seating as it was uncomfortable and a strange setup with needing to move the table to get in. I would have preferred a table. Then I was seated away from everyone else which was quieter but I am pretty sure the other room was nicer. Service was amazing here so friendly and thoughtful. I love eggs benedict but was disappointed in this as it came with a seasoning on it and scallions which was not listed in the description. From the menu: "english muffin, canadian bacon, poached eggs, hollandaise, home fries". I don't like extra stuff on my food. If those ingredients were listed I would have asked for them not to be put on had I known. Instead I had to pick off the yucky stuff. I wouldn't return here. read more

Nice ambiance and probably nice for a special occasion. I'm not much of a fine dining lover so it's not really my vibe. The portions are tiny and expensive but the flavors were pretty good and overall we enjoyed our meal! The service was a tad slow but nothing outrageous and it was early Saturday evening. Two of us got the BLT salad and added shrimp--shrimp was delicious but they gave 3 shrimp. I was so hungry after the meal so not quite worth the price for me but that's personal preference! Very well curated with refreshing twists on some classics as well as new additions such as the shrimp burger. The restaurant was clean and modern. I have eaten at Larkins on a few occasions while they were in their old historic building. Apparently I never wrote a review. Until now I would have given them all "5s"... This last meal was excellent. We went with good friends. The two of us both chose the Elk Tenderloin, which was a nice portion of Elk served with dark mushrooms, asparagus and a very interesting lavender and hibiscus jus. Great combination of flavors. We ordered mixed drinks which were also well done. I like the old Larkin building with the old brick walls and the view of the river. The new place doesn't have the same ambiance, or the superb location, but it is nice and bright. They also have Valet parking, which in the ever more crowded downtown area, is a plus. The service, unfortunately, was slow and spotty. It took a while for our waitress to stop by. It took while to get our drinks. We had to ask for bread. It took a while to arrive. There was no butter. Eventually she took our orders. Finally we were served. Fortunately we had some "catching up" to do with our friends and we enjoyed the conversation without the interruptions of eating... :-) I would go back. Today we tried Larkins in their new location. When I walked in I saw the waiter that waited on us the last time we visited Larkins in their old location. I said..."Hi! I think you waited on us at the old spot..."! She said "Yes! It was you, your husband and three young men with you the last time"! I said...correct"! Terri was so friendly and helpful. While we waited on our food, she gave me a short tour of the restaurant and we enjoyed a great conversation. This visit included myself, my husband and my son. We were there for brunch so my husband and I ordered Roasted Chicken with rice and we split an order of Brussels Sprouts. My son ordered the French Toast, Potatoes and Bacon. It was all very yummy!! I helped my son eat his food because he had a lot of food!! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Terri greeted us and stopped by to chat a couple of times but Bill was our regular waiter this time. The manager was present and came by to check on us. One thing that happened that I thought was great is the fact that both Bill and Terri saw that my son was on crutches and took time to chat with him about what happened and the. Wished him well and a speedy recovery. My son decided that he was going to bring a date to Larkins and Terri told him to ask for her when he does. Although the crab cakes I had were some of the best I have ever eaten, failure to advise that the lunch menu would not be available for a 12:15 reservation, despite a lunch menu being displayed on their website was very annoying. Additionally, charging me a total of $130 for two pork tenderloin entrees which should have only been $60 total and $8 for a side of mashed potatoes that was never served was also annoying. For the record, the billing errors were corrected quickly after I brought them to the attention of our server, which I appreciated. read more

Now my third time there- same story each time. Food is good to very good. Service is slow- every time. That's not just the food in the kitchen- it's the sometimes-absent wait staff. My husband booked us reservations while we were staying in Greenville. One of the things I loved most about the restaurant was that is was right along the river and we could walk to it from our hotel. I was a bit concerned when I saw that most everyone there was in what I would consider to be casual clothing for a restaurant that I didn't think was family casual. But, people dressing like bums seems to be the norm now ‍ Thankfully dinner was great, and our experience pleasantly surprised us. We had the truffle fries as an appetizer, which are hard not to love! I apparently was too excited for dinner to remember to take pictures.
