Hamachi (9/10): simply exquisite. The flavors all perfectly balanced and the fish tasted amazing Caesar Salad (7.5/10): The first few bites were fantastic! When you get to the bottom, it becomes astoundingly salty. Fromage et Poivre (9/10): the brown butter sauce was perfection! The casarecce was also perfectly al dente. MM MM MM! Paté (7/10): the pastry and paté came together pretty nicely, but it still felt like it was missing something Peking Duck (8.5/10): ok this was juicy and perfectly cooked. I was very wowed. However, the $52 price tag is absolutely insane. It's two small pieces of duck. The price tag on this single tapas-size dish is greater than that of some 3* Michelin restaurants around the world. I wouldn't say it's worth the money Service was excellent. read more

My friend invited my husband and I to this restaurant for her birthday. What a wonderful experience, although it did start off a little weird. We were about 10 minutes early. We stood by the door and they said there was nowhere for us to wait other than that spot. They offered us drinks, which was good... but it started in an awkward way. I felt a bit uncomfortable standing next to people on the couches, while they ate. I felt we were encroaching on them. We were seated in the rear section of the restaurant. Note: The air is quite chilly in this area. (You may want to bring light jacket) Adam was our waiter. His knowledge of the wine was a huge help for my husband's paring with his meal. He explained the food perfectly and was very patient with all of our questions. The food! OHMYGOODNESS! The duck was cooked perfectly. It had a sauce that was out of this world. One of the people at our table absolutely refused to let his wife taste his chicken because he wanted to enjoy every last bite! I shared bronzino fish w the birthday girl.(not sure how to spell it) Oh My Goodness!!! Friggin amazing! The crusting was absolute perfection. The clam/sauce complimented the fish perfectly. Appetizers were on point! Cream brûlée was a bit too creamy for me, I like it more like flan consistency, but it was very good. Once I save up again, I will certainly go back. read more

We had dinner here last night and it was our first experience and it was an amazing dinner from the first cocktail to the last bite. Our Server (Kay) was great. He took great care of us. We enjoyed the beef tartar as a starter. the halibut and the ribs were fantastic and there was also a little side dish that was made on the fly, made by the kitchen that was beautiful with mushrooms, artichokes, and a lot of other things that I cannot remember. It was also delicious. The wine selection is fantastic here. The sommelier (Adam) was very friendly and knowledgeable. When booking a table, definitely make sure you do it correctly as I was not able to get through that experience correctly but even though we didn't have a reservation, there was a very nice spot in the bar area that we enjoyed. It was still very romantic and comfortable. We look forward to seeing "scoundrel" again soon. Thank you all for an amazing evening. read more

One of my wife's coworkers recommended this place and mentioned it earned a Michelin star. We make dinner reservations for my wife's birthday. Great service from start to finish. For appetizer we had the Caesar salad. Probably the best Caesar salad I've ever had. Entree I ordered the POULET Ā LA TOMATE. The encrusted chicken was flavorful and juicy the sauce complimented it well very tasty dish. My wife ordered the duck it was cooked perfectly and was amazing. Ordered a side of the heirloom tomatoes as table beside us were raving about them and they were as good as well. For dessert we had the pistachio cronuts they were light and airy and were delicious also the complimentary birthday dessert. Everything was fresh . They did a great job with the decor of this place as well. I would definitely return. read more

I was excited to try Scoundrel and made a reservation over a month in advance, which seems to be the norm given its Michelin star recognition. The location on Main Street (in the former Lemongrass space, I believe) is charming and comfortable, though seating can feel a bit tight unless you're lucky enough to get a booth. The atmosphere is lively but intimate. Food-wise, the salad and entrées were very good, and service was attentive throughout the evening. That said, I did leave slightly underwhelmed given the expectations that come with a Michelin-starred restaurant. One small surprise was seeing entrées served with fries as a standard--it felt a bit more casual than anticipated. Overall, it was a nice dining experience and worth trying, especially if you're into Michelin-recognized spots. read more

The food here is delicious. It is a little on the salty side- so if you have salt sensitive hypertension you may want to mention that to your server. We had the steak frites, chicken, and chocolate cake. It was all yummy. My favorite was the steak. Ambiance is fancy without being pretentious. read more

I was so excited to try Scoundrel and decided to walk up right at 5 to see if I could snag a seat at the bar--and I'm so glad I did. The whole experience exceeded my expectations. I started with the broiled oysters (omg) and the osetra duck fat caviar bites, which I will genuinely be dreaming about for a long time. Every bite felt thoughtful and indulgent in the best way. They also have a fantastic wine selection. I had a Chenin Blanc that was completely out of this world and paired beautifully with everything. The bartenders were outstanding--knowledgeable, warm, and clearly passionate about what they're doing. It all came together to make this one of those meals you know you'll remember. If you can grab a seat at the bar, do it. Absolutely worth it. read more

For a Michelin star I was a little underwhelmed. We've been to a handful of Michelin star restaurants and the service has been over the top. Here, the service was not what I would expect. They forgot my drink for half of dinner, it took forever to get a glass of wine. The server would come at the most inopportune times, but then go missing for long periods. I absolutely love the beef tar tar table side presentation but the restaurant is small, and the servers would bump into each other with the carts The food was good, but not over the top. It was fine. I'd give it 3.5 stars.... But yelp doesn't allow for 1/2 stars. read more

Spectacular meal. The service was amazing and thoughtful. The FROMAGE ET POIVRE was one of the best appetizers we've ever had. Perfectly cooked pasta, with a creamy, peppery sauce that we couldn't get enough of. The ribeye was some of the best steak we've ever had. You have to squeeze the roasted garlic over the steak. It's the perfect enhancement. The bernaise sauce was the star of the sauces. The fries and broccoli were just ok. Really phenomenal meal. read more

First off the vibe is cool, very chill place to bring friends, family, or have a date. Sat at the bar and had no problem getting in around 5p (all reservations are booked out till like February at the time of writing this) Food was excellent. I recommend the chicken! Ribs were wonderful in taste/texture but were overshadowed by the chicken and gnocchi combo. Make sure you get the bread too! Is it worth the Michelin star? I'm not so sure, but I'm not the one judging and will be back. It was quite good food and service read more

We had seen the buzz about the Michelin star and were able to get an earlier than expected seating so we took it! EVERY SINGLE BITE WAS BEYOND DELICIOUS. Subtle flavors that linger on the palate; excellent wine list as well as a good variety of beers. Because of the popularity and interest in this venue I felt we were somewhat pressured to conclude our visit earlier than we might have liked. There were several parties waiting for seating when we left so it's somewhat understandable. But overall, it was a delightful evening with dear friends, excellent food, excellent service and charming ambience. And let me add that I am absolutely on board with the current trend of using vintage china for serving dishes that many venues are using now. Such a unique glimpse of the past--mismatched and fun. read more

I went with my boyfriend for his post birthday celebration when we got time off of work and although we did make a reservation - we waited quite a bit for our table. Food was spectacular - we also waited not that long for our entrees but because we waited they brought out a complimentary pasta dish. Ambiance was great- although dress code was a bit confusing with some people in sport coats and others in jeans. My only complaint is wait time even with a reservation and the drinks were tiny for the price. Overall - would definitely go back. I don't mind a hefty bill if our bellies were full and service was spectacular! read more

This entire review is heavily based on the fact that this restaurant has a Michelin star which should automatically hold itself on a different level that the average restaurant. That being said I do think the experience was a little underwhelming. I personally had been checking reservations consistently and snagged an evening time of 8:45 - upon booking you do put a card on file and they ask for special events - I indicated birthday. We arrived promptly but ultimately did have to wait slightly 5-10 minutes. They do have a small lounge for waiting. The aesthetic of the restaurant is very dark - with the curtains and brick wall etc. It is very comfortable and cozy but did have a moderate noise level. We ordered the caesar salad, fromage et poivre, the filet mignon steak frites, dirty rotten scoundrel and the crème brûlée for dessert. The caesar salad was one of my favorites for the first few bites but as we ate more, we quickly realized it was very very salty - to the point we did have to stop and drink water afterwards to clear our mouth of the taste. Which is also a very small cup of water you receive and aren't refilled as quickly as it should be. The fromage et poivre- was probably the winner of the two due to this. It was perfectly cooked pasta in a delicious earthy peppery sauce topped with cheese. For the entrees, the steak frites - probably the best filet mignon i've had ever. It was perfectly cooked to the temperature asked for and it was incredibly tender and full of flavor. They do give you a large amount of fries for the plate . I definitely did not finish them and upon the server clearing the plates I personally had to ask to get it boxed. The tables itself are also pretty close together where we were seated - it was a wall of a booth paired with a chair on the other side and several tables lined that way. The couple beside us, we could overhear them celebrating a birthday as well and their server offered a complimentary chocolate cake. We got excited for when it came time to order dessert as we had indicated on the reservation we were celebrating. However, nothing was mentioned to us at all of this. I did not inquire, and instead ordered the creme brûlée which was delicious but not out of ordinary. It is a very large portion and definitely can be shared. Overall, nothing I ate or experienced would make me beg to come back here. Things like the missed complimentary cake or the salty salad or having to ask for boxing are things that shouldn't occur with michelin star restaurants. A star indicates exceptional service, a harmony of flavors not overwhelming saltiness , and consistency which is not offering one thing to one customer and not to the other. The highlight was definitely the steak but nothing else. I would say it's a one and done for me. read more

Just tried for the first time, hopefully I can convince you to get the roasted chicken (I know, I know- sounds boring. But trust me here) it was AMAZING. Best chicken dish we've ever had- had a full on Ratatouille moment! I'm not even a gnocchi person & I'm sitting here craving it all over again. 10/10 Honestly- would skip the tomahawk next time! It wasn't bad but we have definitely had better, & based on the chicken dish we had, I would say the entree's are where they really shine! Crème brûlée was also very yummy. Look forward to trying again sometime. read more

Ahh I really wanted to love this place. It's so cute inside but Overall it was not as good as I hoped. I of course reserved a reservation a month in advance as soon as I heard about the star. Wow I mean what an accomplishment. As soon as we arrived we were seated. The tables are very small for the meal we purchased so If you're lucky to get the booth with two people as some did take it. Started off with the Colin's baguette because duh bread. Wow this was my favorite part of the visit. I ended up ordering 2. As first time visitors I was very disappointed with my server. She didn't ask if it was our first time or even give us a rundown of the menu or what was recomended ,I think what was more disappointing was the couple that sat to the right of me who ordered a bottle of wine was given the full run down of the menu. We shared the waitress but I was seated first and she treated them much better than my table. And then to the left of me I witnessed not one but 2 couples come and go with a waiter and he gave both couples a full run down. I just wish my service would have been better however the girl (Kate) who refilled the water was so attentive and kind to us. I wish she would have been our waitress. Back to the food after seeing and talking to a few who were disappointed with their items we decided to play it safe and order the Tomahawk Ribeye with melted broccoli rabe, green salad, duck fat fries and the sauces. First we ordered our ribeye medium well and our waitress said I'll cook it medium because you can cook up not down. Well our steak was for sure not medium well. It did taste good however it wasn't special. The garlic was good. As for the salad which came out first. It was so wet which was fine but very vinegary. The melted broccoli rabe was so salty we could barely eat it which was disappointing and as for the duck fat fries. Nothing special. Skinny string fries with garnish. As for the sauces. I liked the light white sauce and then the gravy and then the basil? Last . During my wait for my steak which they say takes around an hour to prepare so order early. I asked for more bread. Well after 20 minutes of waiting we asked the water server about our bread and I think she informed our waitress because she came back and said I'm sorry I heard you say you were good with bread, not that you wanted more. Do you still want it? And I said yes. Bread came out 5 minutes later. I feel like after spending $260 which didn't include alcohol because we didn't drink during this meal. I really was hoping for a better experience. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Greeenville! We try to have reservations every month for no reason at all and to celebrate special occasions. The food is always on point. It's essentially the best steak you've ever had and the best chicken you've ever had and the best ribs you've ever had and the best Caesar salad you've ever had! In the list honestly could go on and on. The dark ambience for dinner is something I love to. It's just enough light and just enough darkness to have an intimate setting. This being our fourth time attending scoundrels and will be our last. I have never had a worst experience until last night. First there was an animated waiter; who looked "stressed" bless his heart he was trying when he came around. Then the disgusting salty appetizers and your so called "burger" was a joke ... I have never seen my husband send anything back (maybe twice) in life. Then we have little "Ty" come and say it's time for us to leave after we "paid" over $1200 and all we asked for was dessert. I just happened to snag a 715 reservation on a Friday during restaurant week. We have been wanting to go for a while now. First off I love the ambience and vibe. I like that it's a smaller scale venue. Our server Mel is top notch amazing and very entertaining. We really enjoyed her. I decided to order from the restaurant week menu. The table started with the beef tartare, escargot (not pictured, we devoured it quickly) and Caesar salad. All of the above were delicious. I particularly loved the French butter that came w the baguette. I would say their Caesar is on my top 5 favorites. I prefer a strip steak vs a filet so I ordered the coulotte. It was tender and flavorful. I would order again. Our children joined us and they had ordered the burger, it was very flavorful. We ended the meal with creme brûlée and chocolate cake. Both equally delicious! read more

Went in close to when they opened and they were already full! But put yourself on the waitlist, sometimes it isn't as long as predicted. We were able to get in at the happy hour/bar side. The staff were all pleasant to interact with. We ordered the Caesar salad to start and the beef tartare. Both were very delicious and reasonably priced. The steak and frites was my favorite. The sauce that comes with it is so delicious. And such a great price point! The place was busy but not too noisy. It has a very nice dim environment. It's hard to get in as there aren't many reservations available, so just go during happy hour and make sure it's right when they open, because people have been lining up. My son was entertaining his new music manager and decided to go to Scoundrel. I had been here once before so I knew what to expect. Scoundrel has a great atmosphere, welcoming ambiance and the staff is very accommodating, helpful and friendly. We ordered a good bit of food and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I am a picky eater on a gluten free pescatarian diet BUT there is a lot of seafood that I do not eat so there wasn't a large selection for me to choose from. The menu selection is definitely unique but very fitting as Scoundrel is unique in its own right. I chose the chicken which was delicious but I wish I didn't have to adjust my regimen for a lack of options. That's really my only complaint. I would definitely recommend it to others. Wowowowowow! This place is amazing! Came here with the girlfriend, we ordered the Tomahawk Ribeye, and have the duck fat fries to be our appetizer (they come with the meal). Fries were copper crisp without being burnt, and were packed full of flavor. The salad was perfect; the broccoli rabe was creamy and a little cheesy without being goopy or heavy. And the steak? The best steak of my life by far. Succulent, well flavored, nicely seasoned without ruining the natural flavor, cooked exactly right, and not too fatty either. So I loved the vibe here pretty modern decor, cool French music and overall French motif. Service is fantastic very attentive and they made good suggestions. So I have had a variety of foods but never escargot or foie gras.. I had the opportunity to try both.as my party ordered both as an appetizer. So the escargot is just not for me ...but my friends loved it. The foie gras was good....just not my thing. The French fries --- were okay....again. I did not think they were that much better than some other places . (Just sayin) The Scottish salmon was delicious very different than how I am used to it being prepared My friends had the fish special which was a whole fish with shrimp and was quite a lot of meat. This was a lot even for two people.. I had a taste and fltl that it was okay... So if you like French food this may be a great place for you. A lone wolf review but this experience was not worthy of the hype. Very mediocre...just a standard experience for DTG. Service was phenomenal. Well done...10 stars. But.... The food was blah...2.5 stars. I am curious to know what elevated this restaurant to Michelin recognition? What I experienced was no different than any other area eatery. The steak was ok...the sauce was not enjoyable. Fries? Come on...way too simple for the price. The sugar thickness on the crème brûlée was thick and burnt. Not pleasurable. Though, once we picked the burnt sugar off, the custard was nice. For me....it was LOUD...food was blah...and, it is a one and done. Too many other equally awesome eateries in DTG.
