Decided for our 49th anniversary to have dinner in Greer at Rick Erwins. We arrived with reservations at 5:30 and there was only one other group in the restaurant. It was freezing in the restaurant so we opted to do patio which was shaded and a slight breeze which was much better than freezing all through dinner! Our water Chris was attentive even though he was the only waiter. First of all I must say the food and service was good BUT my martini arrived with a hair hanging from the olives! Flies on the patio were horrible! One actually drowned in my husband's cocktail!!! For goodness sakes by some small table fans!!! They definitely work and are not expensive! This is not a place for a casual weeknight dinner unless you've recently won the lottery, in my opinion. So when I win the lottery I will be sure to put it on the weekly rotation. We were here for a birthday dinner, and we could not have asked for better service or food. I've never felt so well taken care of by wait staff. There were 10 of us and there were at least 4 servers who were constantly bringing food, refilling drinks, and even wiping crumbs off the tablecloth. They were gracious to a fault, and by the end of the meal the owner, Rick Erwin himself, stopped by to say hello and ask if we enjoyed the meal. The food was delicious. I had surf and turf and it was the best filet mignon I've ever eaten. Of course they suggested the truffle butter on top, and even though it was an additional $9 I got it. Divine! The bread basket was filled with a variety of amazing rolls. And the crème brûlée was excellent. If you have a special occasion to celebrate I strongly recommend this restaurant. My husband and I have a well traveled palate, and I can honestly say this is some of the best steak in Greer. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. Two things I didn't like were the hard seats and the outdated mural on the wall. Our server/bartender Victoria was amazing; cheerful and energetic service. My wife and I set out exploring the wonderful small town of Greer, SC. It was extremely hot for the area when we happened to look over and see this little establishment. Conducting a highly illegal U-Turn for a parking spot and we were ready to try this place. We were not dressed for the occasion but asked if our attire of shorts and tees shirts was okay for a late afternoon bite and some drinks. The hostess was excited to let us come in and say us right away putting our fears at ease. Service was prompt with waters and a suggestive drink menu which was extensive. What we really liked was the equally impressive wine menu which we found to be reasonably priced. We ordered up a bottle and were happy to begin this adventure. Our Waitress- Vicki Jenkins and her Attendee- Carlie not only provided the best service we have had to date in the area, but were fun to talk with as well. Providing wonderful insight on the menu including an explanation of the wonderful "Clemson Blue Cheese" they use in their dishes. Ask for a sample of this delightful cheese. My wife and I love a well prepared pork belly. While many claim their fame very few live up to the hype. Not here. You simply must try the Bourbon Glazed Bacon. Starting with the presentation through the last bite it was melt in your mouth delicious. My wife decided to try the small fillet for her main entry with a salad and while it was very good and perfectly prepared it was their Fried Chicken served over a bed of freshly prepared collard greens that was the star of the dinner. 1/2 of a chicken breast and wing well seasoned, juicy, crispy. Each bite left you wanting more. The collards would put Grandmothers to shame. Not overcooked, but sweet, tender, and light. As our meal and second bottle of wine came to a close the manager David stopped by to ask how our meal had been? We struck up a small conversation with him and he made us feel like we were setting in his home like old friend. In closing, I can't recommend this Rick Erwin's enough. Disappointing experience all around. My husband and I have made it a tradition to celebrate our anniversary at a Rick Erwin's establishment for 20 years. When my husband made our reservation he specified it was our anniversary and the hostess did verify this when we arrived. We have always been treated and made to feel special going all the way back to our Nantucket days. Not the case in Greer. No acknowledgment whatsoever. Not only that, but instead of seating us in an intimate area we were put dead center next to a table of small children. There was another dining area that would have been much more conducive to a romantic evening, but that was not offered to us. We ended up moving to the bar. Our drink order couldn't be remembered by the bartender who looked and acted overwhelmed and out of place for an upscale setting. With so many choices for excellent fine dining in the upstate, we will definitely start a new tradition for the next 20 years. Do better. read more

My friend and I came to celebrate a winning occasion and the staff were not only friendly, but they celebrated with us!! Even though we were early, the chef accommodated us since they weren't busy at the time and they happened to be ready early. Let's start off with the fact that our server, Victoria, was amazing. She was personable, funny, and still professional. The food is a little overpriced but still excellent. My filet mignon was well seasoned and cooked perfectly but was on the small side for a 7 oz filet. The horseradish cream was delicious but was $7 for a little more than a tablespoon. The sides however were very well priced for their size. The Brussels sprouts were amazing and potentially the best I've ever had. The au gratin potatoes were very good and exactly what you expect - buttery and cheesy. We ended with the chocolate butter cake with ice cream which was moist in the middle and pound cake like on the outside. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a nice date night. read more

We both had the surf and turf which included a filet (you choose the size) and crab cake. We could have cut our steaks with a spoon - soooo tender!! Visited for my birthday on July 9 th and found the service very good and the ambiance pleasing, my wife and I ordered the ribeye and found them to be underwhelming. For the price of a meal everything should be excellent not mediocre. We have had much better at Level Ten as well as at home. I'd rate the food 1 star overall. The fish was okay, my pasta was overcooked, lacking sauce, and everything felt glued together. The lamb chops- they were the lowest quality I've encountered at a restaurant. The ribeye was decent, but the lobster was undercooked, and all dishes were served warm. On the positive side, the bisque was very good, and the bacon appetizer was excellent. Calamari was decent, although lacking dipping sauces. The crabcake was very good. The staff was excellent. I found the three-dollar charge for a quarter teaspoon of melted butter quite off-putting. Any additional item, such as a condiment, incurs a three-dollar charge (each), even if it would typically come with the meal at any other restaurant. At a restaurant of this caliber I find that very off putting given our meal for 3 ppl was 400. The ambience is pretty nice, but it follows suit to all their sister restaurants. read more

First time I've been to this location.-I'll definitely be back again. My wife had a bowl of the she-crab soup with shrimp and grits for the entree. I had the tuna poke and crab cakes for the entre. Both the appetizers and entrees were excellent; the shrimp in my wife's entree was cooked perfectly, and the crab cakes were full of large chunk crab and cooked perfectly as well. First time eating here. Took wife and neighbors to celebrate wife's birthday. The apps were solid. My 3 table mates enjoyed their entrees. I ordered the dry-aged ribeye mid-rare. It came out beyond medium. Never in my 65 years have I returned food. However, I asked our excellent server his thoughts and he said he could take it away immediately and replace it. I finally decided that as I was paying $72 for the steak I should be able to enjoy it properly. Before the replacement arrived everyone at the table had finished eating. A gal brought out the replacement and asked that I cut thru to check doneness. I said it was fine because I could not envision waiting again and eating by myself while my group watched. The second was blue. Essentially it was black and blue. Kolby was able to get the steak removed from my check and I took it home in a doggy bag. I don't go to steak houses as a rule and had hoped this exception would be a pleasant surprise. read more

The finest steakhouse around and the service is second to none. Our steaks and seafood were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The atmosphere is formal but not stuffy. Perfect!
