Texted salesperson was on our way & we got to the dealership ahead of our appt. and waited about 30 min for the salesperson and then saw the truck drive by, SOLD! Don't worry, Salesperson was sorry. Manager said the other person got there first. BS, they knew we were on our way and they sold it out from under us. My wife had a 10am appointment this morning for an oil change and look at tire that was out of balance. 2 hours later, they haven't even looked at the car. They didn't even tell her there is a delay. I STRESS SHE HAD AN APPOINMENT. I have NEVER heard of this in the 40 years I have been driving. She has a 2016 Pilot Elite and we are going to trade it in for a new vehicle. Since she was there killing 2 unnecessary hours, she walked around lot looking. Not one person came out to answer questions or show her vehicles. Guess where we will NOT be looking for a new vehicle. After totaling my beloved 2007 Nissan Titan I was on the hunt for a replacement Titan - a truck with less than 80,000 miles on it but within my budget. This would mean looking for a truck 7+ years old but with very low mileage. As my choices here in St. Louis were slim, I started searching online for a vehicle within 500 miles. I found quite a few but their Carfax reports hinted at less than desirable issues. I also found a few that seemed ideal but the dealerships were not to keen on having the truck brought to a local, reputable, mechanic to have the vehicle inspected bumper to bumper, under the hood, and on the road by an outside party. Most of them refused because the truck was "priced to sell" and "wouldn't last long". Some even argued that it was pointless to bring it to an outside mechanic as the dealership had their own mechanics. Ha...nice try. Enter Richardson Motors in Dubuque, IA... From the moment I spoke with Mitch, one of their "internet sales specialists", he was courteous, professional, and quite honestly...honest. We talked about the vehicle - a 2013 Nissan Titan SL - discussed price for a bit then I asked him to walk around the truck and inform me of anything he thought I might raise an eyebrow should I decide to purchase the truck sight unseen (except for a few pictures on their website) and have it shipped to me in St. Louis. He inspected the truck then called me back and gave me a vivid assessment of things I might find concerning. Next, I asked if he'd be willing to drop the ruck off at a local mechanic for inspection and he did exactly that within an hour of me asking! Well, the mechanic's report was thorough and overall very positive. He did tell me that there were some bulbs burned out, the wipers were worn, and a few other very minor issues. Once I was satisfied with the vehicle I dealt with their business manager, Vern, to further negotiate a price as well as compensation for the minor issues found by the mechanic. We quickly came to an agreeable price and they mailed me paperwork, overnight, with an enclosed overnight return envelope. This process was a little rocky as it took a few days to actually get the paperwork sent out on their end, but its nothing that would take away from my 5 star review. We were all navigating somewhat unchartered waters as not many people buy a vehicle in the fashion that I was doing and they, as nice as they are, don't need to waste time on a could-be buyer that may or may not actually buy the vehicle. Once my $$ was in their hands we had the paperwork completed, the truck shipped, and delivered within 24 hours. There were a few other ways this team, especially Mitch, went above and beyond to facilitate this oddball car purchase but this review is already turning in to a novel. In the end...I'm a very satisfied customer and I sincerely hope to give this dealership my business again in the future. read more

I was begged to come in to look at a truck to trade my truck for. Made the 2 hr round trip to appease the owner, it took a week to agree on a deal with the salesman, made the deal, went to the bank to get the loan, called dealer right when they opened to ask when to come in and do the paper work, not once, but twice and emailed once all the next day. Guess what, they ignored me because they decided to work a different deal with some else after they had already made the deal with me. Nothing like getting begged to come in, make a deal, get a loan, and having them sell the vehicle from underneath of you while they ignore your calls. This is soooo juvenile of what is suppose to be a professional business!! Not impressed at all especially after going to the bank for the loan. Bank also wasn't impressed when I told them what happened. The funny thing is how this affects Richardsons more than they know. The person that bought two new cars in the last six months from you, won't be back again. I average 1 car a year so even though you might have made more money from someone else this day, I can guarantee you, that person isn't going to give you the money in the long run that you would have gotten year after year from myself and 1 other customer. Let me remind you, Chad is the one that wanted me to come in as a first time customer to earn my business, and this is what I got from it. I scheduled an appointment to get my car looked at it for numerous things. I gave them a checklists on the day I scheduled it. The day of the appointment i tried calling to check up to make sure and no one was answering. I called 4 times before I finally got through and by that time it was time to pick my car up. I went in and all they did was an oil change. Didn't do anything on the checklists provided....what a joke and waste of my time. Now i got to try and schedule another appointment to take it somewhere else. My family has been buying cars (5) from them for 10 plus years and even my Honda I bought from. I am sad to write this as the people were decent but I will say the vehicle that was supposedly gone through and top notch falls way short. I bought a 2019 Chevy flatbed with 56000 miles on it for business and I'm out of state. I needed this truck to perform as I am needing it for our new business and as soon literally as we put it into service it has failed literally every day it's been on road. Keep in mind they did try to pay me off by sending me $600 for the brakes that were complete junk, trans filter rusted through and spraying everywhere, cv joint bad, ball joints so frozen from lack of care when turn steering wheel it would lock on you and the BIGGEST PROBLEM A ELECTRICAL NIGHTMARE CAUSING THE TRUCK TO MALFUNCTION EVERY DAY ITS ON THE ROAD. Truck had an issue while traveling through on a huge road trip with my family. These people were amazing. The issue was obscure, but they got us in quickly, worked with GMC, got the part overnighted, and fixed it as quickly as possible the next day. While my husband, toddler, dog, and I spent 2 days essentially at the dealership while they diagnosed and repaired the truck, everyone was so wonderful and kind. We were immediately given a loaner, though had to stick around while things were diagnosed and fixed. My daughter was allowed to run around the showroom, given a snack, played with, and made some friends. My husband and I were offered everything they had, and the dog had a spot and cold water too. Like I said, everyone from service to sales was great with our family, and special shout-out to Grant for getting us back on our trip as quickly as possible! read more

January 19, 2020 To Whom It May Concern: On October 23, 2019, when I went to Richardson Motors of Dubuque, Iowa, to lease a new car, I was led down a path of mental anguish fueled by unprofessionalism, deceptive half-truths, and disrespectful treatment by the sales personnel. I am an 81-year-old, disabled veteran, and from start to finish, I feel I was a victim of elderly abuse and bait-and-switch. Even though I have purchased 23 new cars in my lifetime, I was talked down to and argued with to the point of anger and frustration beyond measure. No one has wanted to listen to my complaint so the wrongdoings that transpired in this transaction could be rectified. I contacted Mr. Chad Richardson, manager of Richardson Motors with my complaint, and he told me he would investigate and get back to me. As of today, I have not heard a word back from him. I sent a disapproval rating to GMC, made several calls to GMC as was directed in the owner's manual, and then all communication stopped. I experienced several issues that angered and frustrated me. One feature I especially needed on my car was a chassis continuously variable real-time damping suspension. (This is essential to me because of my serious back issues.) When I mentioned this to the salesperson, he assured me the car I was dealing with did have that feature. However, we found out later that the feature was not in the car. Another issue involved my request to test-drive the car. When I asked to do so, I was told there was no need to because the car was similar to the one I was currently driving. A third issue concerned the contract. The salesman hurriedly directed the finance department to draw up the paperwork, and then presented that paperwork to me to be signed. It was evidently his intention to have me sign the contract without an opportunity to read through it or to discuss its contents. After purchasing this car and driving it for a couple of days, it was obvious to me this vehicle did not drive like the one I previously had owned. There was a noise under the dash that sounded like a broken fan, and air rushed in around the sunroof. Needless to say, I took the car back to Richardson's and pointed out these concerns; however, my complaints were never investigated. Richardson's solution to this fiasco was to trade in this car and special-order a 2020 model. Because of this wrongdoing in salesmanship, I had to go to another dealership and trade in this car at an enormous financial loss in order to have the features I wanted. McGrath's in Cedar Rapids listened to me with dignity and respect - something I was not afforded at Richardson Motors in Dubuque. I hope this letter of serious complaint will ensure no one else is ever treated the way I was at a car dealership in the future. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Do NOT use this dealership. We had a 2012 Cadillac that was rusting on a wheel well before the full warranty was out- had only 42,000 mi on it and they reluctantly "fixed" it covering 500 of the 600$ repair, and within 6-9 months it was bubbling again in the same spot. Richardson Motors is great. Only place is trust to take my car. I commute an hour and a half to the dealership when I need work done. Recently I took my car in for a scheduled oil change and it happens my boyfriend needed something looked at on his truck. Without an appointment they got his truck done within an hour and gave us a courtesy car in the meantime. Fantastic customer service. Highly recommend. read more

I contacted the dealer several times about my extended warranty refund, thy either didn't pick the phone or say thy would call me back, but never. Will never bring my car back again. Brought it in for a recall where I also had them check what pipe was hanging under my car . They never fixed the recall and said i had to pay for what needed to be done. Not only that, but the pipe hanging in my car was because they said I had no cad converter in my vehicle and that would cost to get fixed as well. Being in college, I don't have that type of money. I brought my car elsewhere where I found out I was misinformed. I did in fact have a cad converter and I got the pipe fixed for 30 dollars . They wanted to charge me at Richardson 1500 just for a part. I called and complained that I was misinformed while the recall was also never fixed . Got a diagnostics check in the vehicle where I waited for two and a half hours . Lance the service manager said he would look at it coming off his lunch break. Being a woman, I understand I can be taken advantage of. But in this case, I am appalled. I know a diagnostics check takes no longer than ten minutes . Found out what the light was for and what needed to be fixed for the recall. Was supposed to get a call last week on Thursday. It's now Monday. Come on people. Worst experience ever. read more

We bought one new and one certified used car from RM. Sales staff is professional and easy to deal with. Service is something else. We travel for longer periods so many of our services are done by other dealers. Two different dealers told us our Honda's services were not done... we ALWAYS do all recommended service. Then on the certified used Buick, a Fla Buick dealer did our first service and reported that brakes, brake fluid, steering fluid, transmission fluid, and alignment were seriously in need for service. GMC paid over $500 to them to do it. RM gave us over $200 for stuff we had to pay for so they did stand up. We won't use their service department. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! I'm so upset, mostly with myself for being "duped" by the old nice salesman trick. Such an extreme case of being nice in the beginning, gaining my trust, then taking complete advantage of me. I 100% felt forced into the deal, I said no so many times and was badgered and pushed into the trade. I was way overcharged for the vehicle I purchased and way under paid for my trade. And they wouldn't give me solid numbers until the final process. There were so many "hidden fees" that I was not told about. I immediately begged to go back and void the deal and was told I could not. I have never felt so strongly about wanting everyone to know about how horrible of a place this is!!!
