I am extremely disappointed and upset with our experience at Richardson Motors. My husband…read morepurchased a 2016 Ford Fusion from them for $7,500 for our 17-year-old son. We never imagined that less than 300 miles later, we would be facing a catastrophic engine problem. We were told the engine block needs to be replaced and that the head gasket is bad. We are now looking at approximately $7,000 in additional repair costs on top of the $7,500 we already paid for the vehicle. I understand that the car was sold "as is." However, I believe there is a big difference between understanding that a used vehicle may need repairs and having a major engine failure within 300 miles of purchasing it. What has been most upsetting is not only the cost, but the dealership's response when we reached out for help. They were unwilling to do anything to assist us. We are a family who worked hard to purchase this vehicle for our 17-year-old son. To spend $7,500 on a vehicle and then be faced with another $7,000 in repairs almost immediately is absolutely heartbreaking and financially devastating. We weren't asking them to give us a brand-new car -- we were simply hoping they would show some compassion and stand behind the vehicle they sold us. In my opinion, this is extremely poor customer service. Things can go wrong with used vehicles, and I understand that. What I cannot understand is how a dealership can sell someone a vehicle, have it suffer a major engine failure before the buyer has even put 300 miles on it, and then simply refuse to help in any way. This experience has left us feeling completely disappointed and taken advantage of. I sincerely hope other families do their homework, have any used vehicle thoroughly inspected by an independent mechanic before purchasing, and understand exactly what they are getting into. For our family, this has been a very expensive and heartbreaking lesson. Richardson Motors had an opportunity to make a terrible situation a little better by simply working with us, and they chose not to. That is what we will remember most about this experience.
