I have a 1978 Suburban. The original exhaust was rusted out, leaks, and overall it's just old. The exhaust location from the factory had the pipes coming out in front of my rear tires. This would blow exhaust in the rears doors as I loaded up the family. Looked online at all sorts of options. Many which are bolt on. I shopped around and I'm so glad I came to RPM. They were able to run new pipes from headers back. They welds were on point. Richard was able to move my pipes behind the rear tires so it would no longer blow into the rear passenger doors. The new exhaust has a slightly deeper tone than the factory and sounds great. I told Richard I didnt want to much throat since it's the family camping vehicle. Not only did he deliver a excellent product but at a fair price. My advice to you is you get what you pay for. read more

Used to be great... got an excellent exhaust made for my built motor turbo car for under 200$ with my mufflers. I went back to redo it a year later because I wanted a quieter exhaust, and they wanted 500$ for basically the same exhaust(keep in mind I'm providing mufflers)..... so I went somewhere else that quoted 300$ with stainless piping and mandrel bends instead of rpm's pressed bends and milled steel. u lost easy money rpm.... read more

Talk about a nightmare. I took my car to Richard's Performance Muffler to have my catalytic converter changed. They look up which catalytic converter the car needs based off of the hood but didn't check to see if the hood is the original one that came with the car. In this case it was a used OEM hood. As you can guess they put in the wrong catalytic converter as they thought my car was a 2004. All they had to do was check the VIN number to see it's a 2002. To pass smog I had to have the install done again with the correct part. To make matters worse they won't admit any wrong doing and expected I pay to fix it. I took this job to them to save money but I guess the old verbiage is true: you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend not taking your car to these crooks it's not worth the headache. I had to get the BBB and Bureau of Automotive Repair involved. I could have made the amount the job cost multiple times over in all the time I wasted dealing with this company read more

Richard and Travis took excellent care of me. I was referred by Mike at North County Mobile Electronics. RPM installed a hitch on my Sprinter travel van. I was very pleased with their work. Later I needed an Onan 4.0kw generator installed. This installation looks cleaner and nicer than any I have seen. Out of curiosity I viewed several high end Class C rv's using an Onan generator to compare the quality of the installation. I would take what RPM did every day over these very expensive rv's. This shop is VERY customer friendly and honest, as opposed to the Mossey dealership, in Oceanside! My muffler tail pipe was loose and I asked if Mossey would check it, while I had my car in for an oil change. Was told I had to PAY UP FRONT, $100, which would go toward the repair. Couldn't tell me up front what a muffler would cost or if they even HAD a muffler. Kept my car 5 hours and told me I needed the whole muffler replaced at a cost of $750! They didn't even have one instock. Even though I declined the service they still took $50 for LOOKING at my muffler. I found RICHARD"S RPM muffler shop, with great reviews on YELP, and in less than 20 seconds the guy looked under my car and told me I just needed the tail pipe and with parts and labor it would cost $100! Good work for a decent price. Had a resonator I had bought online, and wanted it mounted with a muffler delete. I explained that I had speed bumps, and wanted to be able to reverse the resonator and delete, Richard and I both went under the car and worked out how to do it. Did such a good job, I went back the next week to have him fabricate a new seat bracket for me. Another good job. Took away one star because they charged me a price higher than what was quoted on the second job. If they had honored the quote ( or if it had been close) it would have been 5 stars, and yes I would still recommend them, just get the quote in writing first! read more

Came here because a friend recommended them. I had originally brought my car to another shop closer to home to get a part installed but no luck with them. RPM, However, did a GREAT job installing it for me. I say great, because the other shop couldn't do it. But they didn't put my heat shield back on my car, but they did for my friend's car. Not a big deal, I can install that myself. But I gave them 4 stars because, I noticed there's a small dent on the lower part of my front bumper, I'm not sure if they hit something Cuz my car is lowered, or what happened. But there's no way for me to prove that it was them. Just a word of advice, make sure you double check your car BEFORE and AFTER you drop it off with someone there for any scratches or dents. Because a lot of people take a lot of pride in their cars. But thanks overall for installing something that another shop couldn't do. read more

Excellent business!!! I was looking at getting to get a exhaust system put onto my truck, I had called ahead to see if I needed an appointment for Saturday. They just said none was needed but to show up early because they get busy fast and some Saturdays they are not open. I showed up about 20 minutes early and was about the fourth person in line. As soon as they opened they were able to quickly help all customers, I talked with Richard about what exactly I wanted. He pulled my truck around and put in on the lift, then once they cut off the old exhaust let me come into the back to listen to all the different types of exhaust systems they had so I could choose what I wanted best. I went with the Flowmaster, and within a hour of them opening I was driving away with a new exhaust. Their prices were surprisingly low and their service was great. Ok, Service Engine Soon light code 420, went to the Nissan Dealer in Oceanside, I was told that Catalytic Converter might be under warranty. Price they gave me was $2248.36 Took the 2008 Sentra to my auto shop, said no problem pay $99.00 for the diagnostics then pay $1356.00. The car is only worth $2000.00. I said what the Hell. I will do it my self. Went to the NAPA Dealer on Melrose the guys said check out Richard Performance Muffler on Ord Way. Wow, great guys, knew what they were talking about, when they gave me a price of $375.00. I said "No Way". Two hours later out the door passed smog with all paperwork. Holy Crap! This is a top notch muffler shop and one that puts the others in the area to shame. They have a big shop area to handle heavy customer load and are friendly and service oriented. I came in same day without an appointment so waited about an hour before being at the front of the queue but once there, they did a good job confirming what work to be done once the car was up and parts laid out and confirmed the estimate to do the work. I had an aftermarket exhaust installed on an 09 Subaru STI. The cost was excellent and quality of work superb. I had this same work done at Warner's Muffler in Oceanside a couple of years ago (briefly went back to stock for warranty work), but the install was both crooked when viewing the rear tips and ultimately way overpriced there too. I've worked with a number of muffler shops over the years and RPM is definitely one of the very best. Don't waste your time going to other muffler shops, especially in North County San Diego. This is the place to go. I will definitely be back for any future when needed and highly recommend RPM. read more

Have had my car hear twice. The pricing is ok. the work is pretty good, noting special. but this kid working there nearly drove my car off the rack. I counted 6 stalls, and he burned the clutch a bit just trying to get the car on the lift. Other than that this place is fairly good. read more

These guys are crooks! Took my girls car in there back in 2013 to have the cats replaced. They only did one. 2 years later, I tried to get it smoged and they said the cat was wrong. I took it back to Richard, next day he said it was done. Last year, smog station said it was the wrong cat. They still didn't do the work. When I took it back to Richard, he told me he would have to charge me an additional $200 and that he would be losing money because prices had gone up on cats. I had to pay it, again. He actually did the work this time. I reported him to the Bureau of Automotive Repairs. They did an investigation and said he was in the wrong. They recommended he pay me back the $200. So far he has refused. He's not even man enough to call me back. Next step, court. See you soon Richard. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this shop. In March I had them install a Pullrite 5th Wheel hitch in my truck. Travis spoke with me at length before hand and made me feel at ease. Brand new truck and the idea of someone drilling holes in it made me nervous. First class all the way on the install.
