Hello world I would like to voice my experience with RPM, I was in the market for a muffler so decided to stop by RPM, I was looking for a FLOWMASTER SUPER 44 with inlet/outlet 3inch, I got there and talked to front desk employee then Richard came out himself and I asked him clearly and specifically, I told him that I was looking for flowmaster super 44 3inch inlet/outlet he said yes we have it in stock then we discussed pricing and we agreed to price for flowmaster super 44 3inch inlet/outlet, right after we agreed to price he asked for my keys to get started on my truck gave him the keys I was excited to get my muffler installed, when everything turned, he then came back out from warehouse and I over heard him ask his other employee that I talked to at first that they didn't have the muffler that I wanted and he told him to look if he can call and get the muffler delivered to them his employee said that no one local had it, so I stood up and ask directly at Richard and told him u guys don't have muffler he said no we don't and he tried to make me go for another muffler that I was not looking for he wanted to convince me going for flowmaster 40 series and I right away told him no that I wanted the flowmaster super 44 3inch inlet/ outlet so I told him well it's alright I can go somewhere else to find it, he continued trying to make me choose another muffler, he then went back to warehouse and like 5 minutes later he came back in front lobby and said I found one? That was a huge RED FLAG to me, I should of stopped there and just went somewhere else, I was really confused about whole situation then I started asking them questions I asked him if the he found the muffler I was looking for he said yeah I just had it under all the other muffler, then I asked the following can I see the box of the muffler that's being installed so they ripped off a part from box that did say flowmaster super 44 but never did I know they where selling me a 2.5 inlet/outlet he maid me think he was selling me the 3inch outlet/inlet, at this point they were working on truck, when my truck was ready I was waiting to hear the deep loud sound from flowmaster super 44 3inch inlet, It was clearly Richard and staff was just going for my money, he lied to me and maid me think I purchased what I came in for, when my truck was delivered I told them my displeasure the truck was really quite, I can barely hear it, they told me let it break in drive it for a couple hrs, I drove it all morning and nothing changed, I called them that same day I was not happy with the muffler they right away told me that if I wanted it louder that they can install a different muffler but they were going to charge me again I was pissed of and l let them know it, later that day when I called flowmaster to see if they can verify my muffler they told me that it was a flowmaster 44 but I was a 2.5 inlet/outlet, I then called Richard and told him that they sold me the wrong muffler he said that they modified the 2.5 and made it to 3 inch, so they basically they did everything in their power to get their money one way or another all they wanted was my money I was really disappointed with their professionalism and poor service I told him that I would like for him to order the right muffler for me and install the right one he told me he would charge me for it, I'm just taking this time to write this because I felt like someone lied and basically robbed me he didn't care of a Customer all he cared was the money I don't want anyone going thru this just always make sure you are getting what you are paying for, Richard is a person & RPM IS a place to WATCH OUT FOR, worst customer service in my lifetime, would not recommend this place to anyone they might be selling you something you don't want. I firmly believe Richard and his crew can do anything! I've gone in for a number of things from getting a rotten tail pipe replaced to a complete exhaust system. My old POS Nissan failed smog and I took it to Richard for a new catalytic convertor and it passed like new again. It still LOOKED like a pile but they don't do that kind of stuff. I've broken things (I'm pretty good at it actually) and he's welded, fixed and fabricated some pretty amazing stuff for me. Someone attempted to steal the catalytic converter off one of our cars early this morning, so we needed an exhaust repair. RPM came to me highly recommended, so I gave them a call. Spoke to Nick who said to come on in, so we did. Once we got there the car was in the shop within ten minutes. They had an estimate to me within five minutes of that and got it fixed. This place is a joke. I brought my car for them to install a new catalytic converter back in April of 2015 and it barely lasted a bit over 1 year only before it got clogged again. Even though it was still covered under their limited warranty, they refused to cover the repairs for free. They insisted my car was running rich on fuel thus causing the converter to go out. They informed me the best they can do is replace it again and but I would have to at least pay "COST" of what the converter is worth to them. Clearly that was a lie! I originally paid $185 for the converter in 2015 and this time it "COST" $200. I visited rockauto.com to compare the value of aftermarket converters and they start at $145. After installing the new replacement and having to pay to get my car back, I then took it to 2 different shop for further diagnosis on the engine and I was told there is completely nothing wrong with my engine! The spark plugs looked good and the engine sounded healthy, both shops advised me that I got cheated by Richards Performance Muffler. I feel I got cheated the first time and cheated again the second time. The only reason I took it to them the first time was because they had great yelp reviews which to me indicates they know their stuff & provide great customer service. Well I beg to differ! They just want your money and would rather not pay out of their pocket to fix their mistakes. Never again will I bring any of my other cars to them or recommend them to anyone. Save yourself the time and take it to a shop who is honest & loyal to their customers. read more

Great service! I had a new set of headers installed on my car. When I went to pick up the car, I found they didn't install the headers that I had requested. Richard offered to replace the headers that were just installed and replace them with the ones I had originally requested, at no charge to me. Upon further research we found that the headers I had wanted would not fit my car. I thought Richard was going above and beyond by offering to replace the Headers at his expense. I bought a used honda civic to fix up and resell. I took the car in to get a new muffler and cat converter.. the exhaust that was on there was loud but pretty exspensive so I wanted to re sell it. I told the girl upfront that I wanted the old exhaust back. When they were done I mentioned the exhaust again before I left. They told me to go around back so I did. I was met by a worker who took the exhaust out from behind a wall where he tried to hide it. They did a good job putting the exhaust back to stock but I won't go there again just because of this incident. read more

I traveled from Encinitas to get my Audi fixed up, I seen they have great reviews on yelp so I drove 15 min, Unfortunately I will not return and do NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone. They are MONEY hungry and ripped me off. In times like these, ARE YOU KIDDING ME. The did not do what I asked them to do, they did what "they wanted" they do not follow instructions and charged me for a horrible service. My son picked up my car for me and I realized they did not do what was told, I called and spoke to someone claiming to be the manager. All I got was "we can't do anything about it" and hung up on. VERY unprofessional and sad you treat your paying customers like this. I don't want to be a Karen but I'm very very upset. I will contact my lawyer about this situation to try get some legal action started. It's like going to get a hair cut but when you come out they dyed it instead of cutting it and then the business gets upsets when I point out my concerns. Seems to me all they care about is money. Horrible experience. I went in and told Richard I wanted my car toned down because it was droning in my ears. I paid over $500 to get a new cat and a resonator, that he recommend as being the solution to the over bearing exhaust rumble. To my surprise, when I started the car the entire block echoed as if I had no exhaust at all.. I went back and told Richard and he told me he could fix it for another $200? Not wanting to drive the car that way I paid the money. I got back I'm the car and started it and I swear it sounded the exact same.. so I went back again obviously frustrated and told Richard I can't drive the car like this it's way to loud. To his arragant response: "we did what you wanted us to do." If you want good muffler work DO NOT go here. Go to Warners mufflers in Oceanside they fixed everything Richard did. Car: 2012 Mitsubishi Evolution Work Done: Custom 3" Exhaust system (Testpipe to exhaust tips) I needed a system in a short amount of time before getting car tuned so I found RPM. Initial impressions while going to the shop were fantastic. They were extremely helpful from the start, the PRICE was FANTASTIC and the work so far seems to be holding up great as wel. I am very happy with the system and best of all the sound. I wanted it a bit quieter as well so I had them install a second resonator --- was in and out in 30 minutes. I had just bought a monster Diesel van from out of state and was going through the trials and tribulations of getting it smogged and legal in CA. During the process, a bad exhaust leak was discovered that ended up being the manifold gaskets. Normally this wouldn't to bad of a job, but since this van had been all over North America in all types of weather, the headers looked like they had been at the bottom of the ocean for 10 yrs. Nearly all the bolts were rusted into the head and more than a few were completely sheered off. I thought I was toast, a few hundred bucks was starting to look like a few thousand if the engine was going to have to be pulled the get these things off. I read about RPM and took a chance hoping that with all there experience they could fix it. Somehow they were able to cut the nasty corroded headers off and the broken studs out. It was a very slow process. All in all the repair cost about $1200 bucks, but that got 2 brand new manifolds and all new hardware & gaskets + the labor to get the old ones out. This could have easily tipped $3k to $4k if the engine need to be pulled. I will continue to come to these guys for any exhaust issues and recommend them to anyone in San Diego. read more

If you need any sort of custom exhaust or muffler work, this is the place! Don't bother with anywhere else, just go straight to RPM. The work is top-notch (as you would expect, given their history and experience with racing) and the prices were shockingly low for the custom work that I wanted. Richard even made a custom heat-shield for my trailer-hitch luggage platform that worked perfectly on my 8-hour road trip, and it was dirt cheap. After being quoted $1495 for a new catalytic converter and a sensor, I called this shop to get a second opinion. They got me a better quality converter than the original shop was going to get, and it was about half the price. The guy at the front desk even told me that I'm not in need of a new sensor, which also helped me save some money. They got it done within two hours on a Friday afternoon, and my car did pass. First off...lovin the spintech exhaust! Secondly with the help of Nic and Kelton, they hooked a couple exhaust mufflers up for the sound that I wanted. Granted I wanted some quicker throttle response (which I got) not just the sound, I knew I had a couple options that they helped me with. RPM is the place to go seriously! They seem to carry a ton of parts for off-road, on road and even motorcycle exhausts. They have a customer for sure and I'll be back to build up my 4runner even more!
