So far, so good! I've been here twice recently (picking up once for myself, and today for someone else) and really like this place. The people working here have been very friendly (the owner I assume, the guy making the sandwiches). Polite, eager to help. They have a pretty decent sized menu of sandwiches, salads, wraps, paninis, etc. I just got a simple tuna salad sandwich last week and it was very good. They just put what you ask for and no issues either time. The place is welcoming and there are a few tables for people to sit (and not super cramped if they do). I would say that their posted menus need some reorganizing. When you come in, there is one menu on the wall to the right with salads/sandwiches/wraps...then over the counter is a small breakfast sandwich menu. Then all the way to the left in the back corner is one of those Boar's Head menus with the basics. In front there is a glass case with some side dishes with signs for additional foods/meals you can order. I think one, large streamlined menu would make things a lot more clear so you can look at all your options in one place. Otherwise the menus are all over the place. But I'll definitely come back - convenient, great to grab a quick sandwich (both times it's taken maybe 3-4 minutes to get everything all set). And they have a bunch of parking outside so that makes it easy in and easy out. read more

I'm only reviewing their breakfast bc that's all I've eaten here. Their breakfast sandwiches are maybe the best I've ever had. The egg is still slightly runny every single time. It's flavorful, seasoned well, and most importantly, they're consistent. Highly recommend. read more

It has been many years since I was in Richard's, and it is under new ownership. I rarely get takeout, but I was looking for a salad for lunch and Richard's had a nice selection. As another reviewer mentioned, it was nice to see the old favorites on the menu, as well as a few new offerings. I ordered the Green Goddess Salad, and was very pleased. The ingredients were all extremely fresh--even the bacon seemed as though it had just been cooked-- and the young woman who prepared the salad did so with care. The deli was impeccably clean, and would have been a pleasant place to sit and enjoy lunch. Everything has gone up so much recently, but the price of the salad was on a par with those at other local restaurants, and the quality was excellent. I'll be returning! read more

I sleepy Deli and Spring Glen provides a nice lunch at a reasonable price. I have lived in Spring Glen many years ago and gone to Richards under ownership at that time, the place was a madhouse the line was a cool around inside and you would be jockeying for position for your next purchase a decade or so has gone by and the economy has changed. In the meantime, I think Richards has been sold to a nice Korean couple. They have put their spin on the menu, keeping many of our favorites but adding some specialties. I enjoyed a nice roast beef special, chips and a Fanta. Everything was hot, fresh and deeply made. I will be returning because they have snuck in few Korean delicacies like bibimbap Which are only available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. I can't wait to try the homemade bibimbap. read more

I have to say I loveeeeeee this place. I am a very short walk from this place and everytime I go the staff is great. I love the owner and his friend Curt they are so helpful. Each time I go they know me by name, and they always ask me how my life is and go out of the way to make me happy. I agree with others that the prices are a bit high, but this is a typical mom and pop type place, just trying to get by. The owner has kids that are going to college, so I would rather spend my money here and support small, local business, than go to McDonalds to get my coffee. That is just how I feel. Overall the place is great and their salads are huge!! They have fresh OMAR coffee (which in my opinion is the best in CT) and they cater as well. Great place I go 2x a week. read more

This is NOT the Richards Corner Gourmet that we've known and loved for years. Sadly it was sold and the new owners don't have Richard! I decided yo give them a chance anyway. My complain is that the sandwich was too big. I did not pay enough for these huge sandwiches the Santa Fe had such tender, finely-sliced beef which melted in your mouth, and the chicken salad sandwich which was piled generously with huge chunks of chicken!! I can still recall it now even though it was two weeks ago and it makes me SALIVATE!! Both sandwiches were also served with a crisp, light pickle which balanced the richness of the sandwiches beautifully :) it appears that most of the nasty reviews are about the service but I didn't think any of the staff were unpleasant at all! On the contrary, food was served promptly, the owners (a cute Korean couple) were really warm and hospitable, and they gave us an extra sandwich when they got our order wrong!! I have to say, this is a bit tough to write. Being fairly new to the Hamden area, for work, I was introduced to Richard's by some co-workers. My first few experiences were fantastic. Great food, friendly staff, and not too expensive. However, since new ownership has taken over, you will now stand in line while the person behind the register tries to get a clue how to ring you up. She has seemingly no idea what she is doing. The frustration on the faces of the staff making the food is obvious. I hate to say this, because the food is still great, but I don't have 30 minutes to wait to get a sandwich and pay for it. read more

My job uses Richards as the order-in place on a regular basis. I've had a good number of sandwiches and entrees and found all very good. Today was the Beef Barley soup and it was so good! Not a fan of chunk tomatoes in my soup and there weren't any! If I had a complaint; it would be with the chicken cutlets. It seems to me that they use an entire chicken breast when making a cutlet. While I'm sure the size of the cutlet is appreciated by everyone; I would pound it out so it's not so thick. It makes the sandwich too big and hard to bite. Others may like it that way. The staff are always friendly and sometimes comedic! And they sell PB&J's! Now, if they would only carry whole milk chuggers; I'd probably have a new $5 lunch special for myself. read more
