I highly recommend this office. I had never been to an ENT Doc but, they made the whole process a great experience. From the first call when scheduling an appointment, to visiting and meeting the doctor. He and his staff are all very kind, responsive and professional. When meeting Dr Ruiz, he took his time to listen to my concerns and did not make me feel rushed at all. He let me know what I was dealing with and, luckily it's no cause for concern. I spent 30 or less minutes with the actual doctor. I got there at 8:00a.m. and was back to work prior to 9am.

Foolishly I waited, until I had a severe wax blockage in both ears, before visiting Dr. Ruiz. My initial contact was with Jackie, receptionist and capable assistant. Sweet as pie, she can sell coal to an Eskimo. It was her warm welcome that encouraged me to make the appointment. She was also willing to hold my hand while the Doctor sorted my problem. He explained the procedure and gave every assurance there would be no discomfort and that my muffled hearing would be restored. He delivered on all counts. I'm so delighted to have been referred to this office and although I hope I don't have a reoccurrence, I would never hesitate to return. My experience was super! Came to see Dr. Ruiz for my swollen tonsils. During my visit, I also complained to him that sometimes it's feels like something is stuck in my throat. He offered to look inside my throat to see and he ensured me that he will be gentle and it shouldn't hurt. Well, while it didn't hurt but being this was my first time, I didn't realized that it was a tube that he runs down my nose! I think he should have at least explain and tells me the steps so I knew what to expect. Not to mention that I was hit with an outpatient bill from my insurance because sticking the camera down my throat was considered an outpatient procedure. That should be something that he should give me heads up of. Moreover, in the end, there was nothing in my throat but he did suggest that I get my tonsils removed by him because he said they were too large. I scheduled the procedure but then chickened out. However, I was glad that I did because after a few months, my tonsils went back to its normal size in its own. read more

I heard good things about Dr. Ruiz and wanted to get my mom into see him, but the process to get an appointment was extremely difficult and ridiculous. The girl I spoke with on the phone was very sweet and helpful, but unfortunately I didn't have all of my mother's information and I wasn't taking the day off work to come in and fill out forms. The fact that I need to have a fax machine or scanner to fill out paperwork prior to even scheduling an appointment is ludicrous and certainly not a good business practice. I've never heard of a doctor's office requiring this. I contacted another doctor who came highly recommended (and didn't make us jump through hoops to get an appointment). I wouldn't recommend this doctor. read more

We went to see Dr Ruiz because of the good reviews for my husband's vertigo issues. Like one of the reviews here, we felt he was not professional particularly when he said to me my husband was not making any sense of what he was saying. We both think it was rude and humiliating, but decided to let it go since we wanted to get to the bottom of his medical issues. Our biggest issue is they don't follow up on a timely manner. First I asked for an encounter form so we can file a claim to my insurance because we self paid. We were seen on 3/11. To gave Jackie, the assistant enough time I emailed her on 3/21 to ask for the form. I did not get a response. The audio test requested was done 3/27. The office was closed 3/28-3/29. I called on Monday 4/1 to follow up again and was told that they will give me a call. I sent out another email again on 4/3 and still no response. On 4/4 my husband called and left a voicemail message. Friday 4/5 I called again to follow up and was told that the result will be forwarded to Dr Ruiz for review. She said she'll give us a call, I also reminded her of the form I was asking and said she will email it to me. The day has passed and still no call and email. We will have to wait again for Monday. Its so disappointing, we've never experienced this at all with all of the providers we've seen. How many times do we have to call so we could get answers on a timely manner. We've been very patient, we felt we have just wasted our time waiting. Had we known, we could have seen a different doctor to address his issues soon. Was impressed with how well this office seemed to be organized until we got to the office. My husbands appointment was scheduled incorrectly. He took off work specifically for this appointment. We got there and had to resubmit paperwork we had already submitted electronically. We were told he had a meeting at 12:30 but sat for 40 minutes before she tried to reschedule for Monday. The meeting appeared to be an interview which apparently could not be rescheduled to Monday in lieu of a cash paying patient with a health concern. The receptionist was not very apologetic about the mistake on their end and leaves us not only in a bind to find a new doctor but at a financial loss for the day and no answers. read more

We have taken my daughter to Dr. Ruiz for 5+ years, and I had gone to him for about 4 years. My daughters Doctor kept prescribing antibiotics for her ear infections. We took her over to Dr. Ruiz. He found that through the use of cotton swabs she had pushed wax down the ear canal, and with showering, water had gotten back there and was causing the infection. He physically removed the wax from her ears and her ears improved immediately without antibiotics. I had seen him for earaches (wax induced!) and sleep apnea. He is busy, and has limited hours (he does surgery in the afternoon, I believe). But he is most knowledgable, personable, and effective. read more

***Edited for clarification*** I suffered from chronic sinusitis for years and was on antibiotics for way too long. I was scheduled for sinus surgery in 2004 in AZ, but lost my insurance and moved to Temecula. About six years ago, after several attempts to find help, I changed to PPO insurance and was referred to Dr. Ruiz. I took my MRI films with me, and he looked at them and said, no, you don't have chronic sinusitis and would not consider the surgery. I was crushed that after many years of trying to find a doctor who would help me, Dr. Ruiz was not willing to help. I finally found a very good doctor who did the surgery in 2010. I have not had one sinus infection since. read more

I searched the web for ENT specialist in Temecula and saw some good reviews on Dr. Ruiz. It is a shame that is not reflecting on Yelp. I had a an issue and came into see him and I was seen right on time for my 9:30 am appointment. The staff was friendly and efficient. He was so quick in finding root cause of my problem and I left his office feeling better with my problem with my ear resolved. I think he is super knowledgeable in his field and had equipment that my regular doctor just didn't have for dealing with ear issues. I would highly recommend him based on that experience. read more

Dr. Ruiz is a very compassionate, caring, knowledgeable doctor. Jackie is very helpful and tries to get schedules for appts to help accommodate illness. As far as the new receptionist she is not helpful or informative (Nicki) I saw Dr Ruiz 2 weeks ago and provided medication/antibiotics. One week later I called in and stated I was still sick and the receptionist didn't offer scheduling appt and told me to ride it thru the medication. She also recommended using hot tea for sore throat (which I might say is a direct opposite of what Dr. Ruiz says) :/ I called in today to make an appt due to still being sick and receptionist was not helpful, rude and said go to ER or make appt for Jan 6th. This is unacceptable and now on a waiting list to be treated. I also asked specific questions about when Dr Ruiz or Jackie would be available and she evaded my questions. This is not professional. My dearest Mother regularly has a problem with wax build up in her ears to a point where it tends to become a severe problem ... And with the hassles of having to get a referral authorized from her primary care physician through her appointed network, I thought maybe google would be a better option. I came across Dr. Richard Ruiz's name and rolled the dice. Called and spoke to Jackie, who forwarded the necessary paperwork needed via fax to expedite the process, since this was our 1st visit. To my amazement this was the best thing that could've ever happened for my Mother, given her condition. The staff were all quite diligent with their specific roles and Dr. Ruiz was truly a breath of fresh air from other ENT's we experienced in the area. My Mother's comfort was their first priority and with her age in the mid nineties he used instruments to extract the wax instead of a the traditional liquid flush. In fact my Mother, who was sound asleep when the exam started, never even woke up during the delicate procedure given Dr's Ruiz's prowess and expertise. Couldn't be happier with the results we experienced and will NO longer have anyone but Dr. Ruiz tend to my Mother's ENT's needs. There is no better choice for you and family than Dr. Richard Ruiz. I've been coming here for years and this review has been long overdue. This friendly and caring staff took me in when I was having an emergency. Both of my ears were completely blocked and I was having sharp pains. I could hear my heartbeat, that's how bad it was. They've also helped me on my sinusitis problems. Dr. Ruiz has taken care of me and my family's ear, nose and throat issues for a very long time. He did a procedure for me to correct a deviated septum that I have had since I was a teenager that liked to get into fights. I had a visit with Dr. Ruiz earlier this week and he is great. I had some issues with my ear that I had gone to urgent care to get looked at and they did a TERRIBLE job assisting me so instead of going to a general practice I decided to go straight to a specialist. Dr. Ruiz was a referral and a great one at that. Their staff was super friendly, I was to say their names were Kendra and Jackie, they greeted me by my first name just walking through the office door. That never happens. My visit with the Dr. was great too. He could tell I was in pain but helped right away and then was able to discuss with me preventative measures for the future. I would recommend his office to anybody in need of an ENT specialist and if I need these types of services again I will be sure to go back to them. read more

I saw Dr. Ruiz suggestion from a friend who really thinks highly of him. I had a tube in my ear about a year and half ago in my right ear by another dr. Recently my right ear had been acting up, my hearing in my right ear was as if the tube came out and the inner ear filled with fluid again. I saw Dr. Ruiz and setting up the appointment was quick and easy, his staff was very helpful and professional. Dr. Ruiz checked my ear, ask about using q tip and said it was plugged with wax. He commented on my deviated septum then referred me to a "Super Specialist, nothing else was done. No wax removal or anything. I made the appointment with the "Super Specialist" thinking it would be right away and take care of the wax issue. They set me up for three weeks later!! This was not acceptable as I could not go three weeks with this condition, I call Ruiz's office back and told them this and if they could at least get me in to clean out my ears (which probably should have done the first time). They also could not get me in for 3 weeks. I ended up going back to my original dr. who did get me in and he confirmed that there was no wax build up in right ear and the tube had indeed come out and the inner ear had filled with fluid once again. At this point I didn't know what or who to believe, I had another appointment with my General Physician a few days later for results of recent blood work up. I explained the story to him and he confirmed what my original Dr. had also confirmed, no wax build up and the tube indeed came out and was laying in the ear canal. So if Dr Ruiz does read this, I hope there is some good explanation. read more

I brought my son in for a routine ear check up and was seen within 10 min, which is awesome. The staff are very nice and knowledgeable. Dr Ruiz is very approachable and makes you feel like a person instead of just another patient. Jackie is super efficient. Called to make an appointment and was told to fill out forms on website then she would call as soon as she received information. She called back same day and we had a appointment a few days later. Was seen by the MD and by the next day she had a referral faxed over to another doctor for a audiology test. His bed side manner is very down to earth, straight to the point and doesn't rush you out the door. I made an appt for my wife. I asked the person on the phone, Jackie, if the doctor had a good bedside manner. She said, yes, and that he is very good and spends a lot time with you. We did not get a chance to see how much time he would spend with my wife. He would ask her a question and when she tried to explain, he would cut her off and tell her, just answer the question. I tried to help her explain something and he cut me off, saying that he was talking to her. At one point, he even said that he was *very* upset that his staff even let her have an appointment because he didn't have her MRI CD (we brought it with us to the appt). Finally, my wife said that he was intimidating her. At that point, I told him that we were finished and didn't have to put up with his personality any longer. His comment was, "yours isn't so great either." We left. We do not know if he is a good doctor or knows anything about medicine. We do know that he does not know how deal with people. We feel sorry for his staff to have to work for someone like that. Our advice is to stay away unless you're into being intimidated! read more

I saw Dr.Ruiz this morning for what I thought was fluid on my ear causing me to be dizzy. He assured me there is no fluid on my ear but has given me some other things such as diet to look at for my dizziness. Although I have some tests to do to help figure out what is really going on. Dr. Ruiz spent more time with me going over my information then any doctor has ever done. I felt so comfortable talking to him and listening to his suggestions. I really felt like he cared. Which is not something you see in a doctors office anymore. You are whisked in and whisked out. Not the case here. His front desk person Kendra was also very nice. I was a little concerned when she said I needed to fill info out online before she could schedule an appt. But it didn't take long for her to call me back and get me in the following day. Which is unheard of! I was nervous because I am dizzy and was afraid she was going to tell me they could get me in to see the Dr in the next couple weeks. Dr. Ruiz is an educated,excellent and compassionate doctor. He participates in continued education for the cutting edge updates in medical procedures ensuring that he has the very best treatment options for all his patients. I have referred two friends to him that had terrible sinus issues and previous surgeries by other doctors. They had been told by their other doctors that there was nothing that could be done to help them but Dr Ruiz was able to provide diagnosis and treatment for them both and they are a million times better! If you have had a diagnosis where a doctor has said nothing can be done- I highly encourage you to go to Dr Ruiz for a second opinion!!!! He believes in building relationships with patients so that he can fully be an advocate for them, which some doctors are not capable of doing. At my visit they took, my blue Cross PPO insurance, copied my card and then later, did not honor my insurance! Beware! This has never happened to me. My son had been suffering with ear pain for weeks prior to seeing Dr. Ruiz, with multiple visits from other doctors who were quick to push invasive procedures that I felt weren't necessary or appropriate for him being so young (1 year at the time). As a mother I was feeling defeated, as my concerns were not being addressed and my son was still suffering. Dr. Ruiz came highly recommended from family and friends, so I called immediately. Dr. Ruiz and his staff accommodated us on short notice, his staff was polite and worked diligently to have the visit and all treatment pre-authorized by our appointment date. I was willing to pay out of pocket (expecting to with very little time between the appointment and the time required by my insurance to approve treatment), so how they were able to expedite the process astounded me. During our visit Dr. Ruiz addressed all of our concerns, listened diligently, and found the issue bypassed by the other providers my son had seen previously. I have never received such sincere care and respect from a medical provider and staff. I am so appreciative to Dr. Ruiz and his staff for helping my son. I'll just share that I went to see Dr. Ruiz when I had lost my hearing on my right ear. I was able to get an appointment from one day to the next and the staff were very efficient. When the doctor came in I was able to explain my situation to him and after an examination he was quick to diagnose and prescribe the appropriate medication. His experience and knowledge were very much in evidence. The end result was that I recovered my hearing in a couple of weeks much to my pleasant surprise. I just wanted to share my experience with severe sinus and breathing issues I had. I have had allergies all of my life but over the last few years they were much worse. Since December of last year I began having a runny nose on just one side, migraines and I was constantly congested. No matter what over the counter products or prescriptions I used nothing could stop the running. My family doctor recommended I see an ENT since she could not resolve the issue. It turns out I had a large mass and extreme sinus blockage. I of course was very scared and nervous about having a biopsy and surgery. I researched 3 different ENT specialists and most of them were not very helpful and had limited scheduling. I had several questions and concerns and was not comfortable with the information I was given. I was feeling frustrated until I finally met with Dr. Richard Ruiz. WOW, what a difference! Not just in knowledge but the way I was treated from the moment I arrived. Everyone in his office was so nice, professional and accommodating. They were very understanding and made me feel at ease. They worked with my schedule so I didn't have to miss more work than necessary. Dr. Ruiz carefully went through my CT scan with me and gave me detailed information that I could understand. He was very knowledgeable and helped me understand exactly what the issue was and my options to resolve it. He even offered me other doctors contact information so I could pick one for a second opinion. I of course decided to have Dr. Ruiz perform my procedures because of the trust and faith established during my office visits. I cannot begin to describe the difference in my quality of life since my surgery. I breathe better than I can ever remember. I have more energy, my migraines are gone and my sense of smell is incredible. It is amazing what resolving sinus issues can do. I am so impressed by Dr Ruiz and I know that choosing him was definitely the right decision. DR. Ruiz and his staff are nothing less than FABULOUS! Dr. Ruiz is not the norm in today's medical field, he is compassionate and shows real concern about your situation, my daughter's ear was severely infected due to a piercing she had done. Our GP doctor called his office and we got in right away, his staff was wonderful, he explained what he felt needed to be done and made sure my daughter was in the least pain as possible, and because it was close to the weekend he gave me his personal cell number, in case we had an issue over the weekend, what doctor today does that, I deal with a lot of doctors due to other situations in my life, and by far Dr. Ruiz is one of the best. Tried to get in for a very urgent procedure to remove wax that is extremely painful. They would not accommodate me even though I told them I am in pain. They had no suggestions to help me or referrals. Very unprofessional office staff and more importantly a lack of empathy. Not the place I would recommend for caring medical staff. read more

I ended up doing research for an ENT specialist after I was given a 10 day medication for a secondary bacterial infection that didn't go away after the medication was finished. Dr. Ruiz's staff took my concerns into consideration and I was seen the next day. Dr. Ruiz was very knowledgable and was able to get to the root of my problem quickly. I ended up doing the tonsill and adenoidectomy. It has been 2 weeks since and the ear aches are gone, I'm sleeping and breathing a lot better, and no longer have the infection.
