Friday, March 22, 2024: I checked in and was greeted very warmly by the staff. It was a long wait. I came to see Dr. Philip Chen about scheduling another endoscopy and colonoscopy. Such fun! . Anyhow, it took 2 hours to see him but I do recall I was "squeezed" in today. He is worth the wait. He is a kind, compassionate doctor with a great bedside manner; nothing is ever rushed. No wonder it's so hard to make an appointment with him. He is a sought after specialist. My check out was quick and informative. The young lady who checked me out was friendly and thorough. Office staff are horrendous and rude! They call before every appointment to drill you on why you made the appointment and then speak over you and give a condescending attitude. They make people make appointments only with their computer Eva via phone and then complain that the appointment doesn't suit them! Office staff should be polite and caring! read more

I strongly DO NOT recommend this gastroenterology group. I continue to receive random bills more than 1.5 years after my procedure--despite multiple confirmations from their billing department that my account was fully paid. The quality of care does not match the cost. Despite a complex GI history, my post-op follow-up was unexpectedly switched from a physician to a nurse practitioner, who simply read my biopsy results without offering meaningful insight. Since I have a medical background, I asked clarifying questions but none were adequately addressed. Thoroughly disappointed with my experience at UnitedMD. read more

I had originally posted but decided to repost a new, updated review. The office in Murrieta has left me hanging multiple times on Tele-health appointments with no notice. The last time, waiting for my endoscopy results, they called five minutes AFTER my appointment time and said sorry, Sarah Nasher (not sure on name) won't be back in the office till DECEMBER. Now I know they didn't just find that out, they could have called me at anytime before that and at least given me a chance to find a different doctor. I wanted two weeks a bit on edge for those results. I've also been hung up on. Two days after my endoscopy with their surgery center, I tried calling to ask if it was usual that I was in the amount of pain I was in. It was suggested by the receptionist to call the office and she gave me the number. I did and someone answered and when I went to ask a question, she cut me off rudely with a "what doctor are you calling for" I said "I'm not but I need to ask....." she interrupted me and said "call back after nine," and hung up on me?!?! Very helpful thanks. I will say one bright light in an otherwise dreary experience with them is their Riverside office. The medical assistant, a guy, is super nice. The nurse practitioner is extremely knowledgeable. She takes her time and explains things. Unfortunately thats a bit too far for me to travel every time. It's in almost downtown Riverside, took me almost two hours to get there due to traffic and 2 1/2 hours to get back. I can't do that every time. All in all I will say that has been my only positive experience. The office in Murrieta is a dumpster fire. read more

Quite possibly the worst doctor office I've encountered. Booked an appointment arrived early, only to find the whole office is under construction. Note taped outside says to go to a different location. Arrived at second location, and that location is under construction as well. The note here at the second location says to call a 3rd location. Completely insane - no one answers the phone or replies. All automated and just hangs up on you. Like a bad scavenger hunt. read more

Although they were running late for my procedure, the staff was very nice and helpful. Dr. Argueta is great! He is thorough and talks to his patients with such ease and compassion. Even before the procedure, he was cheerful and very clear as to what he would be doing. They are fully booked and are not taking new patients. Thanks for wasting my time and my doctor's time referring me to your office. It might be another week before I can get another referal. Also outsources appointments to a call center because they would rather under-pay somebody overseas than pay somebody who works in the office to schedule you or ask questions to the doctor if needed. read more

This is not a review of the practice, but of Dr. Dhuha Alhankawi, MD. The practice itself in my opinion (at least in Temecula) is more like 3 or 4 star. It's a bit difficult to reach them and the Temecula staff could be friendlier. They tend to treat you more like a number. No friendly greeting, just terse instructions when you come in. It would be helpful to receive a hello and see a friendly smile when you're coming in to be tested for cancer. The staff person I saw when I left my first consultation did do a good job by giving me a printout with my 3 appointments listed, including times and addresses. She was also much more personable. I chose Dr. Alhankawi, MD because I couldn't find another doctor with a 5-star review to perform a colonoscopy in Temecula. Most were between 3 and 4. I thought I would need to travel to another area to find a doctor I was comfortable with. I wanted to go to Dr. Chen but found he wasn't taking new patients. Fortunately, the woman who scheduled me from the main office set me up for a consult in Temecula with Dr. Alhankawi. When I googled to read her reviews there were none. I found out later that this is because she used to work with Sharp who deleted her reviews when she left. Prior to the consult I called what I thought was Dr. Alhankawi's office (not in Temecula) to learn more about her. But I discovered she had left that office and had just begun to see patients in Temecula (on Thursdays) and Encinitas. I asked her prior office, "Is she good?" And the woman's voice lit up--"Oh yes, she is good! We all wish she would come back. All the patients love her." I checked further and found that she is well-published. She does a lot of research. So I felt confident even with no reviews. Plus, it's a lot more convenient to go to a local doctor. I needed a colonoscopy because I had a positive Cologaurd test after avoiding colonoscopies for 10 years. I won't do that again. During our consultation, Dr. Alhankawi explained that Cologaurd sometimes finds larger benign polyps and returns a positive result. I knew that false positives happen 15% of the time with that test. She also helped me feel confident that if she found a malignancy she would do everything she could to help me. She obviously cares about her patients--sincerely. She showed me photos of benign vs. malignant polyps and said you can often tell the difference based on a visual inspection during the procedure. My interpretation is, it's a lot like looking at moles on your skin--you look for certain changes in color and shape. Dr. A. made sure I didn't have any further questions before I left the consultation (I had asked quite a few while we spoke). And on the day of the procedure when she came into the surgery room, the first things she asked were, "How are you?" and "Do you have any other questions?" She has a very calming presence and she's very patient. Fortunately, my test turned out negative this time. During our follow-up appointment the following week, she explained that the polyps were very small. Because of the Cologaurd result, she had expected them to be much larger. She explained that the polyps are not why the Cologaurd test returned a positive result. She encouraged me to return in 3 years this time just to make sure nothing was missed. The staff, by the way, for some reason hadn't transferred the results of my tests to the doctor for my follow-up. She had a list of other tests performed that same day that she had received, but mine was missing. She had to go up front during our appointment to have them hunt for my results, which they did find. It's really important to have those results for your follow-up visit! If you are lucky to have Dr. Alhankawi as your doctor, I'm sure you will have a very positive experience regardless of the outcome. read more

Dr. Priscele White is an amazing and competent Dr. I went to see her for digestive issues, she requested a breath test for Sibo (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) sure enough it came back positive. About one year ago, our son was having stomach issues and severe pain, and a trip to the ER resulted in an appendectomy. For several months after, he continued to experience the same pain, nausea, and he began missing a lot of high school. This affected his grades and his mental state because he was a straight-A student. Dr. Koorosh Kooros was referred by our primary care physician but we tried to get into Rady's Children's Hospital because we thought they were the best. Rady's didn't care and there's so much red tape it's an entire process just to get an appointment, IF they call you back. The one phone call I received was about "how I would pay" before having an appointment. We gave up on Rady's because my son's condition was getting worse. I called Dr. Kooros' office and the phone was answered and an appointment made at the same time, imagine that! The office staff was extremely accommodating, friendly, and professional. Dr. Kooros turned out to be our saving grace. He was nothing short of AWESOME, and our son loved him. Dr. Kooros went right to work trying to solve the problem. At the first appointment, tests were done, my son's diet modified, and a endoscopy and colonoscopy ordered. The procedures were done within a couple weeks and results received. At that point, I received a call from Rady's for an appointment that was 2 months in the future, I laughed and said goodbye. Dr. Kooros solved my son's problem and we have seen him for follow-ups, and he continues to stay on top of it making sure my son has a full recovery. My son is back in school, was able to catch up and get his grades back to where they were, and he will soon be graduating high school as part of the Valedictorian Circle. This never would have been possible without Dr. Kooros and his excellent care and personal involvement. Dr. Kooros' philosophy is no child should suffer and he proves it every time you see him. His appointments are punctual and a thorough examination. There's no get in and get out, now pay the man. Dr. Kooros listens because he cares and he takes detailed notes of everything told to him, even when the child speaks, he listens attentively. DO NOT go to the big red tape medical organizations, if you want answers and solutions, Dr. Kooros should be your only choice when it comes to anything having to do with gastroenterology. read more

I have had Esophagitis, Gastritis, Crohn's all the horrible stomach and G.I. issues imaginable, and more recently I started having trouble swallowing again and needed to get in. Talking was getting hard as my fatigue has been so severe that I decided to try through the patient portal to request an appointment. I got an immediate response from Maggie Guzman ( who by the way works really late after hours to help response to messages). That is unheard of these days to have someone reply so late in the night and she does it out of her own amazing work ethic and just kindness. She was replying back to me even at 9 p.m one night! She immediately replied with letting me know my normal doctor was a bit booked, gave me the dates she was available, but took it a step further and gave me a long list of the available providers I could see sooner. I really appreciated that as I like to research who I might be seeing just to help calm my nerves. She also let me know I had the option to see my provider through tele visit or in office. She got back to me again immediately just to finalize the date and confirm I was still okay with that date and time. I really appreciated that. It is people like Maggie Guzman who make me want to stay in the practice. There is so much behind the scenes the staff have to go through and put up with and she goes out of her way to be kind and work so hard. Going through a chronic health ordeal is tiring and scary but to know you can have staff who want to sincerely help and make you feel like you can reach out if you have concerns is really incredible. It makes you feel like a person and not a number. Your business will grow more if you invest in the type of people like Maggie who truly care. Seriously, who do you know besides surgeons who stick around to make sure the patients have any questions or need help after normal business hours?? She is a gem. read more

First of all, I was very impressed with professionalism, as well as personableness of staff - Margaret at the front desk, Maggie (Office Manager), and especially with Bryan Sauter, PA-C. I have been a patient with UMD for a few years. The gastroenterologist I usually see is no longer with the group therefore I had to see Erick Argueta. I went in for severe pain in my right side. It started a couple of years prior to the visit with mild pain and I had been told it was my liver. Dr. Argueta informed me it was a gas bubble after less than five minutes and no exam or imaging and prescribed xifaxan and Metamucil. I questioned him on having a gas bubble for two years and he just glossed over the question. Two days later I ended up in the ER because the pain had become so severe and they happened to see something in my spine on a CT scan. After a follow up with my primary it turns out I have a fractured spine and the pain I was experiencing was from a pinched nerve. I was referred to a neurosurgeon and was told that at that point the fracture was too old for any treatment since two years had gone by with them telling me my liver was the problem so I have to endure this pain or get injections in my spine for the rest of my life. If Dr. Argueta hadn't been so dismissive he may have found that the problem wasn't a GI situation and pointed me in the right direction. read more

Now that Dr. Eastman also has a Temecula office this is where I go for visits, although you can visit any of their offices. I was presented with a highly frightening CT scan which recommended an urgent follow with a colonoscopy. Brian Sauter, the nurse practitioner was great. Although I'd been a patient of Dr. Eastman for many years I had no problems meeting with Brian who made me feel much better about my CT scan results and my upcoming tests. The girls in the office work very hard and did their best to help me out in getting in for an appointment and for testing asap. Dr. Eastman, himself, is highly skilled in his profession and is a rarity as far as his caring for his patients. There aren't too many doctors like him anymore. I feel very lucky to have him as my GI specialist. Having to wait in a Dr.'s office is pretty common. If you are visiting a good doctor do expect to wait awhile to get in. If I ever had any serious issues I would trust Dr. Eastman with my care. On the other hand, I had called the office in Murrieta (in the Richie's parking lot on Hancock and Murrieta Hot Springs) to try to get an earlier appointment there and the girl answering the phone was very rude. I was very glad that my appointment go changed from that office to the Temecula office. You can see Dr. Eastman and Brian Sauter in any location. My 5 star recommendation is for Dr. Eastman. If I had to rate based on the office staff in Murrieta my rating would have been lower but this is about the Dr., not the staff. Don't let that stop you from seeing him. read more

I'd been a patient for at least a dozen years but found another gastroenterologist after Dr. Eastman retired at the end of 2018. I felt Dr. Eastman was the only reason to want to return. The office is very difficult to get in contact with to schedule an appointment, with protracted waiting room times and then you get the bum's rush out the door. I hate they insist that you schedule an in-office consultation to share the results of routine tests. The first visit is when they recommend to do some testing. Second visit is to have the test done and then you need to schedule a third in-office consultation for them to share the results of the test. So for a routine test I have three $75 co-pays, invest three days of my time and spend thirty seconds in the office for the doctor to tell me that the tests are all normal. I work in Orange County so I need to take an entire day off to visit a doctor's office in the Inland Empire. I pleaded with them to share test results without the third office visit  but was told that they don't do that so I don't go there anymore. read more

Doctor Eastmon is the best doctor I have experienced in as long as I can remember. His manner is outstanding. I wish I could clone him for a primary doctor. The fist visit he explained everything so perfectly and after surgery he came to see how I was doing before I left the building. This is the doctor I would definitely recommend for your colonoscopy . The staff was great too. The only thing , my appointment for procedure was about 2 hours late. Might have something to do with scheduling. I would suggest calling before leaving the house to see if they are running on time before sitting in the waiting room unnecessary time. read more

I have seen three of the Doctors at United Gastroenterologists. First I saw Dr Artigo, he was great, but it seemed like I had to wait a long time to get to see him. Then my friend went to the same office and told me to get an appointment with Dr. Levewitz. He was very to the point, somewhat quiet. Unlike me. The second time I saw him, he turned into a comedian. Soon to find out he was retiring. So the office made an appt with his associate Dr Teymoorian. He was just right! Recently, I was in the Hospital and Dr Artigo was the Doctor on call. I think he recognized me, from awhile ago. He was so nice. When he came in to talk to me before they released me, he had a conference call with my two kids. He took that time because I don't always remember things and they could both remind me of things he said , if I forgot. It is always advisable to do that. Very efficient office. PA Bryan Sauter was great! Received several calls to schedule my procedure, however, I had work and a vacation scheduled so I told them I would call to schedule in a couple of weeks. When I called to schedule, no one answered the phone or answering system kept going in a loop (10/1-10/9). Update: called yesterday and left a message. No one called me back so I called again today and spoke to someone. She said no one called me back because they were waiting on my authorization. When I told her it was issued 9/8 and approved through 12/4, she said oh yeah. I was able to schedule my procedure, however, the medical assistant Nara, was rude. read more

Was having issues due to my celiac and was time for my colonoscopy, Saw Dr Seeger who I liked immediately and was very pleased with the information given and concern. And Philip Alian NP did alot of follow up with me and I would highly recommend him to friends and family and trust him with my issues. Was very pleased as well with the office staff and nurses. Yelp should have negative stars. This staff certainly deserves it. If you go in sick they will having you go in for tons of testing, drop the ball several times by not putting in your prescription or sending you home with a another patients discharge papers, you will be disrespected by them asking "are you really sure this is happening" or them letting you only pick three symptoms you wish to manage. Then they will want more testing and you will have to wait at least a month, most times longer, to hear anything from them. Oh and none of your other doctors will be able to obtain your records without a fight. So long story short they keep you as sick as possible for as long as possible. I have been dealing with them for over two years now and they still have no clue what's wrong with me. Went to another doctor and they actually have some ideas about what's going on. So sad people can practice this way. read more

I went to this office today, for a follow up from some previous tests etc. and I was not feeling well at all, basically feeling miserable (nausea ,headache) all the staff were nice and caring.
