I first saw Dr Abshire in 2023. He sent me for a scoliosis x ray. When the results came back he said that was "too old" to have surgery to fix my spine. I have since had a terrible decline in my spine. My pain clinic Dr is sending me back to Dr Abshire as he is supposed to be the best spine Dr in the area. I did not like that I could only speak to a computer and a week later I got a text message saying it would be 3 months till I could get on to see the Dr. Well I will try again and see how this appointment goes. read more

UPDATE: within an hour of drafting this review I was contacted by the scheduling department and now have an appointment. I was also contacted by a supervisor and she explained what happened and that they are working on changing their process to make it a little more efficient. Thank you guys for the speedy resolution! This review is only for the intake process. I haven't been scheduled or seen a doctor yet. I received my authorization on Tuesday from my insurance and tried to call their scheduling line. No answer so I left a detailed message as instructed. The following day I submitted an online form that I found on their website. On Thursday I sent them an email, from a link on their website and on Friday I was in the area so I stopped in their office and spoke with the receptionist. Very nice person and very positive communication. She seemed unsure of what was going on and gave me a paper form to fill out with my contact information which I did. So today is Thursday, 10 days from initial contact, and I have contacted them 4 different ways on 4 different days and there hasn't been any communication made. I don't know what else to do. I guess try each method one more time and then ask my insurance to switch providers. They seem like good providers and are convenient in location. read more

Dr Friedlich is an incredibly gifted surgeon. I just had a 9 month follow-up appointment for a lumbar fusion and I am a new person! I had terrible back pain for over two years until a lower disc finally herniated so bad the nerve pain was unbearable. At 45 years old I couldn't even sit at my desk to work from home for longer than an hour before I had to lay down. Dr Friedlich's office staff were great. After my initial appointment and decision to have the lumbar fusion surgery they worked with my insurance and the hospitals to make it happen as soon as possible. The surgery was hard and the recovery was difficult, but Dr Friedlich and his team made me feel well taken care of the whole time. I would recommend him to anyone. He explains what's going on and what can be done about it so you can make an informed decision. The office staff is also very responsive to messages about questions regarding insurance and medications. I went to Dr Fredlidge May 8th for numbness in my entire body and I was in a wheelchair when he first saw me but just a month before I had been walking up to over 10 miles a day. He had me ck myself in the hospital for observation because of my cervical spine and disc being crushed. The first time there was a problem finding feeling from head to toe and he stopped to confer with my daughter, sister and myself and I was explained that I could be paralyzed but I couldn't function the way I was. He proceeded the surgery 3 days later and 3 months later I'm up and walking 5 miles and almost as well as I was before. Dr Fredlidge is the best Dr to have on your side and all his colleagues are the best in valley. They checked on me thru out the entire procedure I recommend them to anyone who needs quality care . read more

My issue is the inability to communicate with the office. I can not get to a live person. After holding for over 30 minutes the system asked me to leave a message. And if you leave a message as instructed, they claim that you will receive a call back within two days which is ridiculous in itself but that doesn't happen either. Twice this has happened to me. The first time was to book an appointment after my hospital discharge. The second time was to confirm a phone number for my bone density testing. I give up. I planned on having Dr. Friedlich perform my spinal surgery apparently the front office thinks I should not. read more

Worst medical care in my life, July 2023 called to see Doctor concerning severe lumbar pain, was sent for MRI, CAT, Xray of my Cervical , bone density and a nerve study that revealed active nerve damage. No call from Dr concerning results, no Follow up appointment set. After being advised by my GP to call them an appointment was set, complained to Dr Freidlich about it and he sent me for a lumbar MRI after 7 months in excruciating pain, and he sent me for a epidural which had little effect, never called concerning MRI which revealed a synovial cyst and a ruptured lumbar disc. After a year of living in pain a change away from the HMO is necessary to see a Doctor who actually gives a shit about the patient. I have zero trust in this Dr. neither should you. read more

Yesterday 6/22/2023 I was at the office to finally meet Dr. Oh and discuss my situation regarding my lower back and how to proceed. While I was waiting for the Dr to come in the exam room a young lady named "Liz" to discuss my Yelp review. I explained my concerns about my calling and no return calls and having to drive to Murrieta from Sun City just to speak with someone. After about 15-20 minute conversation we were able to come to a satisfactory resolution. I admire Liz because she addressed the issue "head-on" and she assured me that those concerns are being addressed within the office. Went here recently after a car accident to see Dr. Abshire. The staff was very friendly, and polite. The office was very nice, they had water and coffee available as well as snacks, not that I had any. There wasn't a terrible amount of paperwork to complete as a new patient. I didn't wait very long after completing the paperwork to get taken back. The nurse was very sweet and understanding. I waited a few minutes after the nurse left to see the Doctor. He was very nice, I really appreciated that he was kind, yet to the point. He asked some questions, examined me and made the appointment very to the point, again which I really liked. It didn't feel rushed it just felt like he knew exactly what he was doing and what he was looking for. the appointment desk on my way out was just as helpful. I really appreciated her understanding that an MRI may be difficult for me. I had Dr. Oh for a transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion with allograft (including four screws, two rods, and a cage). I'm only 23 and this is following a motor vehicle accident. I highly recommend Dr. Oh, he was helpful and informative before surgery and I am even more impressed with his attentiveness after surgery. He made his rounds multiple times, checking my wound, monitoring pain, adjusting anything I needed with great bed side manors. Dr. Oh went beyond my expectations and I highly recommend him to anyone. I can not say enough wonderful things about the experiences I have had with Temecula Valley Neurosurgery. Dr. Abshire did my first spinal fusion 17 years ago and literally gave me my active lifestyle back. Just recently, in May 2022, I had been having issues with severe leg pain and weakness. I went to the Emergency Room (they were expecting me as the Nurse Practitioner at Dr. Abshire's office let them know I would be coming) and all my tests were done within 2 hours. Dr. Abshire came in and explained that he would be doing a revision of the original spinal fusion and adding a level. The visits by Michelle ( PA ) & Tracey (Nurse Practitioner) while in the hospital were thorough and professional. At the writing of this review I am 4 weeks post op and starting PT today. I have no doubt that I will once again be active in my life once fully recovered from the surgery. Lisette, the Office Manager/Clinical Coordinator, is nothing shy of perfection. Her compassion and professionalism are so refreshing to see and she gets things done quickly and efficiently. The office runs like a well oiled machine, but they are "family" which is rare nowadays. It is easy to get an appointment, refills, or whatever you need just by contacting the Medical Assistant staff in the office. They NEVER answer the phone. You have to wait several days for responses and medical records will never call you back. So although my insurance company is likely going to approve surgery through them I am cutting my losses and leaving. As much as I wanted Sr Abshire to be my doctor I cannot deal with an office where no one wants to help you. I finally get through, tell the lady that I have been waiting THREE WEEKS for calls back (leaving messages once a week). I ask for an office manager. Nope. I get transferred to yet another voice mail. Im done. So unprofessional. I have never experienced so much unprofessionalism. Dr. Abshire is GREAT! I have been seeing him since 2008 and had a spinal fusion performed. Although Dr' Abshire's office is obviously not at the hospital where my surgery was performed, he dropped by very often (as I was an in-patient for almost a week). I really couldn't be more pleased of his professionalism & medical performance. Away from the treatment realm, there are a couple issues that is no secret: appointments are always weeks into the future and not once are appointments on-time. I always arrive early to each visit and yet still wait 45-60 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, plus another 20-30 minutes in the patient room ~ yes, one & a half hours waiting before I'm actually seen. Like I said, great Dr - he knows what he's doing, but the convenience of appointments and appointment wait time are the downfalls. read more

First, Dr O is fantastic and this review is not a reflection on him in the least. The office, however, is awful. I had a follow up Appt to read MRI and XRay results but was informed the day of my Appt that they could not see me because my insurance medical group changed. I had changed it after calling their office to confirm that they did in fact accept the new medical group which I was told they did. I was apparently misinformed and they would not see me based on their own mistake/misinformation. The "help" the office manager offered was to switch back and to reschedule my Appt for after the 1st of the month when it kicked in. So I am now left with 2 compressed vertebrae and a bulging disk to wait another month to have results read as to the severity and options for recovery!? I don't think so. They even refused to see me as a cash patient. In my frustration I used a swear word not directed at anyone but just as a general grievance of the situation and I was firmly reprimanded by the office manager saying she will not allow me talk to her that way and that it was completely unacceptable. I apologized and assured her it was not directed at her or that I was even angry with her but just with the circumstance. She then reprimanded me again for the same thing after the fact even though I had "behaved" and apologized for my brief lack of censoring. I believe she was looking for a justification to get off the phone with me as she was not willing or able to actually help me. Word of advice, next time admit fault, use your "sorry" and own what is yours to own. As far as I'm concerned, I will happily take my time and money elsewhere based on the absolute incompetency of the office and the lack of their willingness to admit fault and/or help. If I'm going to have to wait another month for results anyway I might as well go to an office that is competent. read more

I chose to get opinion from TVN after previous Neurosurgeons have not been able to help me. I explicitly explained my circumstances of Previous T-10 thru S-1 Fusion with all the MRI's as back up. My pain and suffering is at new and insufferable level. Can't walk or sleep. Dr. Abshire ordered Hip MRI's. It has been two month's and it is still not approved. I pay a significant amount of money for PPO insurance. Their office doesn't answer the phone or return calls from me or the Imaging facility trying to get approval. If you have a difficult case and in pain, I suggest you go elsewhere and I pray for you and the relief you deserve. read more
