We ordered the flaming dragon, lickity split, crunchy mango, rainbow, seaweed salad and pork summer rolls. We didn't get too many fresh fish but still the order was tasty and pretty hefty in size. Would recommend if you're craving sushi, in the area, and want a quick order. Rice Monkey has been a favorite of our family for many years. We supported them during Covid etc. however, this last time was a big disappointment. My favorite Lime twist was very small and I also ordered the spicy tuna. 30 dollars and some change. The rolls are very small and sliced very thin so were falling apart. very sad that this restaurant is no longer our family fav. not sure if these are new owners or what is going on but the quality is lacking. We are from out of town and we researched our options pretty thoroughly because we have a toddler. This place said it was kid friendly. Nope. This place is very small and only seats 20. There were no booster seats for a toddler or high chairs. Besides the non kid friendly vibes, the sushi was basic. The rolls fell apart when eating. The warm sushi rolls were served cold. We saw multiple people picking up to go orders while we were there. Hubby had the volcano and thoroughly enjoyed it. He still had room for more so ordered the pork summer rolls with peanut sauce. I've had them before and the food is solid. The miso soup is a bit bland for my liking, but my sister loved that it wasn't too salty. The rolls we got were good. The teriyaki was absolutely delicious. It did not tase like the basic teriyaki chicken, this had a unique homemade flavor which set my mind on coming back when i return to Durango! The employee at the front was so rude, offered no information-if you needed info you better figure it out on your own. Also, Sushi was fishy tasting. The place had wonderful service. Little small area , but has decent amount of seating. Being born and raise in the Bay Area I put my pho on a higher expectation level. The pho was decent, but it came a lot sweeter then I expected. I guess it was probably missing a little more fish sauce ? The sushi roll I tried was the funky monkey and it was good. This place is a little hard to review. I only tried the sushi! The place itself is so tiny. I was seated in the very back across from the wait station where they clean dishes, which is not very appetizing, but they did warn us that it was the only spot open and we were welcome to wait for a nicer one. When we received the plates, all of them had black specs on them that smeared when wiped off. The water cups were really cute though. I wanted to try the pho, but after reading so many horrible reviews, I decided not to. I got 5 rolls of sushi instead. The sushi was pretty tasty and the staff was very friendly. Would probably go back for sushi, maybe. Only giving 3 stars because of the dirty plates and the small facility. read more
