Way better than expected!! I have to say I did not expect a place like this in the town of durango. I was looking for a pho place and wanted to try this place out. Was very happy with their dish. I also tried the sushi and it was impressive. We all know the other sushi place in Durango and this place beats it hands down. I saw a review on here that said they didn't have any Gluten free options and almost half of the menu was gluten free. I actually counted and they have 16 "GF" options. This place is so good!! I'm from the Texas area and it's so hard to find a great Pho in my neck of the woods. This one is delicious and has no weird aftertaste (which I've found in other places). This place is great and so is the service. I have not found a cheaper place to get sushi and it's always very high quality. It can get very crowded but it's well worth the wait. I had a delicious hamachi roll and shared a vermicelli bowl with fried pork rolls that were amazingly gluten-free with my husband. It's hard to choose so we just pick a little bit of everything to eat. Can you believe they have $5 crab rolls??? Visiting Durango with my fiancée and decided to pickup dinner and eat in. We'd never eaten here, but the menu has a great variety. They had the order ready exactly when the website said to be there. The two sushi rolls and sashimi we ordered were some of the best we've ever had. I was in shock at how fresh the fish (tuna) was. On top of the sushi, we ordered the Saigon noodles and Lemongrass beef. The sushi portions were more than generous and left little room for the entrées we had ordered. The lemongrass beef was great and reminded me of the bbq skewer beef we had in Cambodia. Fiancée said the soup had good flavor, but described it as a different flavor than anything she had before. Glad we picked this spot for dinner!!! read more

Some of the best sushi I've ever had. Great service and great food. Definitely would eat here again. The seating is minimal, 2 tables inside and 2 outdoor tables and that's it. We took our food to go and they came out and took care of us on some benches outside. I would recommend just calling ahead and take it away. read more

This location has seen so many different restaurants, but my sister has been telling me that Rice Monkeys is pretty good so decided to try it. When we first walked it it was very HOT inside; the door was steamed up because the temperature was so high so that was kind of uncomfortable (also since they are using raw fish and ingredients I'm not sure how good the heat is for the food :S Ordered the spicy tuna roll which was 8 pieces for $6 and was tasty. We also ordered the Vietnamese summer rolls (vegetarian) which was two pieces but they cut them in half. They were very yummy and the peanut sauce was great!! I would definitely order them again, and they also have a pork version. Look forward to trying other items, but I think that the noodles and some of their dishes are overpriced... Also beware there is very LIMITED seating here so you may have no choice but to take your meal out. read more

My go-to spot in Durango! The quality of fish in the sushi and sashimi is shockingly excellent for a landlocked state. Every roll I've tried has been delicious and executed near to perfection. The sashimi plate has large portions, superior quality fish, and plenty to share. (usually I will only share with one other person because it's so delicious that I want more, more, more). The Viet food is certainly not traditional, but tastes pretty darn good. I definitely miss fish sauce and those traditional flavors I am accustomed to, but as the only Viet spot in town, I am not complaining. The ingredients always have superior quality which makes up for the lack of authenticity. Must give a shout out to the staff-- the chefs are alwaysssss friendly! They steal my heart every time I come in. Dining area-- very intimate. Small location that can feel cozy or busy depending on the hour. Tables do open up pretty quickly. One request-- hot sauce! Sriacha is the only option...come on, boys. read more

We are a long way from the ocean, but the sushi here is excellent. Location is a bit of a tight squeeze, so I couldn't imagine stopping by on a busy night. This place is definitely not worth your time or money. Other than the seating being absolutely horrible or the food having no taste, Rice Monkeys is not a clean place whatsoever. The front seating area was full when my significant other and I came in so we were seated in the back of the restaurant right by the bathroom/dishwashing area. I had a full view of where they prepare the food and I was appalled... they had raw, thawed out chicken on the floor in a bucket. The cook would pick up a piece of the floor chicken spray Pam directly on it then throw it on the grill. I made sure not to order any of the dishes with chicken so we both got the beef pho which was honestly just as bad. Not only was it served cold but the meat was rubbery, the broth had no flavor and no amount of sriracha or hoisin sauce could fix this nasty pho. I've had better pho in hospital cafeterias and that's not even a joke. This place was so bad that recommend staying at home to make Top Ramen over this.
