Ricci Hair is amazing. They have been one of the top Salons in Edmonton for literally decades- as they should be because they have amazing stylists. The salon also has very little turnover which is almost unheard of in the industry, after going here for years it's nice to notice many other familiar faces around the salon and to notice the same customers in the chairs around me too. Loyalty to salon and stylist especially at a high end salon I'm sure is difficult as if I was ever unhappy even a single time I wouldn't keep going back. My single complaint is that parking downtown is always a bit of a pain and sometimes I end up having to park in a parkade seemingly blocks away; so allow yourself extra time, especially on game nights! read more

I've been going to Ricci for several years now, and I'm always very pleased! The salon is very professional and high end, and my stylist (Mikka) is very well trained/educated and always makes great suggestions for what I should do with my hair. I've never had a bad cut or colour. They send reminder texts of your appointments, which is very convenient. Several award winning hair stylists work here! And I find the prices to be quite reasonable for the quality of work. You get what you pay for :) read more

I am NEVER returning to this place for a haircut. I scheduled an appointment at 9:30am and requested a specific hairdresser and then at 9am when I had already left the house to go to the appointment they call me and ask me to come in two hours later. I agree and when I get there it is a completely different person which I should've never agreed to let her cut my hair. She proceeded to wash my hair and soaked my entire back and then gave me layers which I did not want. Terrible service and terrible haircut. read more

Have you ever had your phone alert system jingle to remind you that in half an hour, you have a hair appointment? Of course you have. That's how we all do it. After confusingly staring at my phone trying to distinguish if that bell-meets-whistle-meets-sad cat noise meant I had a text, email or a bomb full of glitter about to detonate, I took my remaining 26.26 minutes to figure out what I should do to my 'do. I googled: HAIR COLOURS SPRING 2014. My screen filled with beautiful models reminding me so much myself...if I was taller, skinnier, younger and British. I chose Model #4--a pale girl with blue eyes and beige blonde hair. I saved the image and made my way over to the salon. Mitzi sat me down at her seat and asked me what I wanted. She's the kind of stylist I like. Laid back, honest, knows how to cut and colour and stuff. I showed her the photo of Model #4. That's when it all started. Though my strategy behind choosing Model #4 was clearly foolproof, oddly, I almost sh** my pants when I saw my hair. I. Was. Blonde. Mitzi did everything right. The colour was amazing. I, however, chose a look based on "eenie meenie option this one." Yet, I still really liked the colour, so I was good with it. I thanked Mitzi for her talents and went home feeling bouncier and uh...bouncier than ever. Blondes should always walk with a bounce. Why isn't that a rule? Now that you've imagined a city full of bouncing blondies, close your eyes and fast forward 10 days later. I'm back in Mitzi's chair--not to complain (I loved the colour), but to tell her that's it's quite possible I didn't think the whole "super blonde" thing through. At home, I looked like the kind of blonde who puts criminals away during the day, then parties with them at night. But at work, the lights made me look like I was a criminal. Bouncy Blonde did not suit me. I needed more beige. Mitzi was very cool considering I was the reason I was back in her chair a few short days later. She worked her magic like David Copperfield massaging a rabbit, and now I'm beiger and happier than ever. There's a chance I'll be back to see Mitzi in a few weeks to beige more, but she always manages to embrace me like I know what I'm talking about. Mad props for patience. What's the moral of this story? Don't choose your hair colour from a magazine 27 minutes before your appointment. If you do, at least make sure the model looks remotely like you. Eye colour. Race. Face shape. Gender. Astrological sign. And if you decide to take my route in your hair's future, be proactive and book an appointment with Mitzi at Ricci Hair ASAP. read more

I went to Ricci today on Jasper as I was in desperate need of a bang trim and it was within walking distance from my place. Before heading there, I called to make sure that there was room for me. The lady I dealt with on the phone was extremely nice and she told me that I could come in before they closed and she would also ensure that a stylist could also accommodate my sister. We both got Meredith to cut our bangs. I actually was a little anxious because I generally never deviate from my regular stylist but getting an appointment with her last minute is next to impossible. So... I decided to try a new place and based on reviews this place seemed pretty good. Well, I was not disappointed. Not only was Meredith super friendly but she listened to how short I wanted my bangs to be cut. Sometimes you get stylists that will butcher your bangs and I have had my share of bang trim horror stories. Fortunately, that was not the case this time. Meredith was awesome and she took her time to cut my bangs and my sister's. The result was great I am definitely going to come back and book with her again to get my cut. read more

I was really looking forward to coming here as it had good reviews but I ended up leaving very disappointed. The cut seems okay but I ended up leaving the salon with wet hair? Which is problematic in two ways. Firstly because my hair type needs to be finished dry and I've only had two stylists not do this (she's one of them). Secondly, I think she was trying to "teach" me how to do my hair without heat but she was showing me pretty well the exact same technique I use at home to make my thick wavy hair more manageable but frankly it was an inferior method. I told her I already do it but she continued anyways. Getting your hair done is about more than just the final cut, it's about the experience and that experience includes getting your hair styled and feeling like a million bucks afterwards. I unfortunately did not get this. Which is disappointing because I spent $83 (I still tipped as there are many circumstances at play like the salon probably not giving her enough time and I don't feel right penalizing someone for that especially since the salon likely doesn't pay a livable wage). read more

Since I've been in Edmonton (just under 2 months) I've been here FOUR times to see Vicky who is amazing and who I only met the first time on a whim to get a wash and blow dry before a nice dinner out. WOW! I love it here, I've had my color done too and it's been very hard to leave my go to hair stylist in Vancouver, but now I've found someone I can trust! And the new salon on Jasper is GORGEOUS!! read more

Only three people have ever cut my hair, not including my mother in the past fifteen years. One of the stylists at Ricci has been cutting my hair for three years now and I never have a complaint; unless I make a suggestion. She is always right about how my air should look. Overpriced. $95 for a 30 min shampoo and average up do. No water/coffee/tea offered, which I certainly don't need, but kind of expect when slammed with a three-figure price tag (tax 'n' tip). Front 1/3 of salon looks great; back 2/3 reminds me of salons in the 80's. You can do better - go elsewhere. read more

I have been going here for at least 15 years. Vicky is an outstanding stylist who gives excellent cuts and wonderful colorings. I always get people commenting on how wonderful my hair looks; that they love the color. It is hard to find someone who understands your hair and is doing their best for you. This is my first time going to ricci to get my hair done. My overall experience was poor. The stylist I got did not seem educated.. I asked her simple questions about new products that wrote released in the hair market such as the Brazilian keratin bonder, she had no idea of it. Then she proceeds to tell me that she records all of her clients use olaplex, which was a big no no for me. Though, I am not a license hair stylist, I do know quite a bit about the hair industry. She preceded to tell me that I needed 4 sessions to get to my desired colour... I am right now a level 8 and wanted to be a 9... My balayage that she did did not come out as desired. This whole experience was a total joke. I even went to the receptionist and told him I was uncomfortable and wanted a second opinion, he told me that he would send someone right up, no one came to consult and give me a second opinion. No one has ever pulled my hair that hard while painting it, nor has anyone washed my forehead and cheeks. My hair turned out okay, definitely could have been better. Honestly, I waited months to write this review even though I was completely dissatisfied with the service and haircut after I left the salon. (I thought maybe I just didn't like shorter hair on me, but even after it's grown out, the layers are a mess). An HOUR before the appointment when I was already on the way to the salon they called me asking me to come in two hours later. I agree because I had a good experience with one hairdresser (Natasha, who I was scheduled to get a haircut with). However, I get to the appointment two hours later and it's a completely different girl. During the haircut, when washing my hair she soaked my entire back. My layers were not blended properly and my hair was not evenly cut :)))))). Been here before for Stephanie and Natasha (who were great), but they lost my business after this disaster. The girl who cut my hair was really nice so I feel bad calling her out by name, but was not a great experience. read more

Very disappointing...especially at that price! Was expecting a great cut from Tony. He has recently won awards and charges $100 for a cut. I have, or should I say had, medium length, thick wavy hair. I told him I liked my longer hair but just wanted some more layering and didn't want it to be thinned out too much. He suggested I go shorter and add some texurizing. Thinking I was in good hands I agreed. He cut about 5 inches off my hair and went way overboard with the thinning shears. He didn't really do anything with the front and sides. I didn't feel I looked any better leaving than when I walked in but the I can tell if it's a good cut by what happens when I wash and style it myself for the first time. The result was an unruly rats nest that requires a lot of work with curling iron to get it smooth. Thought about going back and requesting he fix it but that would result in cutting off even more hair. I've had better cuts from First Choice where a cut runs around $20. I will definitely not be going back. read more

So I am giving Ricci Hair 5 stars just based on the professionalism and courtesy I received in scheduling my appointment, that in itself was enough to let me know how good and professional this salon would be. I was flying into Edmonton for a weekend wedding and unfortunately had to make every arrangement ( flights, hotel, dress, gift) last minute. I was a literal spaz and basket case when I called to schedule an appointment as well as explain my hair type , expectations ( which were all over the place) etc. They handled every request with patience and clarity. Even when they called to reconfirm ( which I did the day before) gave me more tips on how to save time before getting my styling done so I could make it to my event on time. I unfortunately was unable to use any of their services since I missed my connecting flight to Edmonton and arrived the next day when I had scheduled my appointment. I was very sad that I was unable to try out this salon but can't say enough great things about the staff that handled my scheduling and rebooking and then canceling with such professionalism for last minute booking on weekend during a huge festival weekend. read more
