Due to being very particular about my home I spent much time researching and then getting estimates to tile my newly expanded shower stall. My research paid off as my shower came out beautiful! Rene was always available to take my calls even on a Saturday. His crew was very professional and would consult with me every time any minor or major decision had to be made. Their suggestions were spot on and contributed to a job well done. Many man hours were spent to get my floating shower seat just right. Ok well we did our 1st bathroom with them and never again. It is a father and son business and they also had other family members working with them along with a few unrelated workers 1st trip out the Father came looked at my 2 bathrooms and gave me a quote it was about the same as the others but he was very friendly and seemed knowledgeable we decide to pick RG Tile. The son come back to get one third deposit and have me sign contract (with no copy for me but said I would get one mailed after copied never did) They come back a few days later for demo and when they removed the shower insert they also ripped out the ceiling which they claimed they did on purpose but it had just been replaced in a bathroom remodel months before we bought our home they also cracked a pipe while the jack hammered the cement they claimed it was not there fault and since the pipe was older we ate the cost of that 1350.00 they paid none and did not offer discount off my bill with them. Ok now that the plumber fixed the pipe they come back. The son with a dirty maybe on drugs looking guy who was there to do the drywall. The son who is also owner stands around will the worker does the job and then they leave. Now I am told that the Owner /Son will be back next day at 730 I'm up and ready owner comes after 8 and the worker another 30mins later. After the owner explains the job and leaves the 2 worker basically worked 9am to 2pm with a lunch hour that they left my property for and then when leaving at 2pm they said the tile cutter guy had to go to DMV. They had literally put up about 20 tiles. Told they would return the next day at about 830 because 730 was too early for them. Next day they came at 9 just workers. Did minimal again and left early. By 2 pm again the one worker was cleaning out his truck the other left. I called Renee Jr. because I was concerned that a 3 day job was going to get out of hand. Renee Jr. was very polite and always spoke nicely and gave himself good customer service as did his dad. He was not aware the men had been leaving early and coming late. He was also unhappy because he was paying the for a 8 to 5 shift and now knew that's not what they were working. The next day the owner came and the worker did more work in that afternoon than all 3 days combined. Unfortunately the man putting the tile up became very angry and when the owner left the man was completely rude and would not even answer me when I asked questions the other gentlemen started answering me at one point when he relished. so again I call the owner because I don't want someone who is being rude to me in my own home after that the worker either broke or stole at least 15 tiles because we had just counted the leftovers to return them and then after my talk with owner they were gone. Two were found in trash pile in perfect condition. I told owner but again no offer no offer to help with cost of stolen property. I made my 2nd payment on time because I just wanted this to end. Last day only the 2 man showed up he was still courteous and polite did his job professional but did tell me they had several problems with the other man for a long time and that he himself had left a job because the man was such a problem. I can only say after hearing that why does Renee let this man hurt his business. I honestly don't know if he is a worker or a relative but I wouldn't keep him. The end result was ok my shampoo cubby has a slope so sometimes bottles slide out and my garage was covered in dust because they did all the cutting in my garage not outside and there was no rain to be clear. A clean up would have been nice. In the end I like Renee and his son Renee Jr. But the workers are hit and miss with what you get. Rene and his workmen cut a counter top opening for a new range in my Coronado rental. Even thought the job was small they treated me and the job well by arriving on time and keeping the granite dust down by tenting the counter top area. By tenants were extremely happy with the results which included not having to remove the counter top to an outside area. read more

I am writing the first bad review I have ever written. I felt compelled to write it because our experience with RG Stone has been so negative, as we have ended up paying over $6000+ for a travertine shower that is defective because of the poor quality work that Renee and his crew with RG Stone did. Renee seemed nice enough and the original installation of the tile looked beautiful but the contractor and I realized the afternoon after Renee completed the job that he hadn't correctly measured where the edge of the shower should have begun and it was off. When planning the shower, this was a point that the contractor and I went over several times and we had both explicitly told Renee this was the plan. Our contractor was beside himself trying to think of what to do and I freaked out because how do you fix an edge of a shower without having to redo the whole thing? At that time, I should have just demanded to have the whole thing redone if he wanted to get paid, but I felt bad doing that and already exhausted from the process. The contractor proposed taking off the edge tile pieces and adding new ones that would extend the wall to the proper length. It would mean the tile layout wouldn't be quite optimal and never the way tile should actually be laid but we agreed to it thinking that it was a good quick solution that would hopefully never be noticeable. This is when things became really bad. Renee showed up late the day he came to fix the edge (12 noon). Instead of acknowledging his mistake in any way and wanting to make things right, he seemed annoyed he had to be there to fix his work and hastily cut out the edge tiles damaging many of the existing ones leaving chips and scratches. Instead of taking time and care to do it, he threw up new tiles that were poorly measured and the new bull-nosed pieces he cut and installed were warped and wavy. One piece distorts the edge making it look bent inward. Renee tried to rush out of there (after only 2 1/2 hours of work). It left me feeling that Renee was either just sloppy with his work because he was resentful and in a hurry to be done with it or at worst that he had intentionally done a poor job out of spite because he had to come back to fix his mistake. When his guy came the next morning to grout the tile, he was astonished when he found out Renee did the work and said he couldn't believe it because it was so bad and pointed out all of the flaws. I called our contractor distraught to tell him what happened. He came out to look at the job and said we shouldn't try to fix it again because it will only cause more damage to the existing tile but proposed having Renee come back out to just replace the top corner tile because the height was off. Joey from RG Stone came back to fix the piece but when he hammered into the wall the other tiles next to it cracked and so had to keep removing more and more original tiles. Then we were in a situation where we had to frantically look through the remaining few surplus tiles we had for alternative pieces. Joey also seemed rushed that he had to be there doing this work. He did ask my opinion of what tile pieces should go where but at a certain point I expressed reservation that a couple of the tiles looked too dark but he said I couldn't change it at that point (he could have but didn't want to). The edge pieces that were distorted and warped were still up on the wall (now two of them with more chips in it) and now we had a portion of the wall that looked too dark - it had looked beautiful before. My husband came home from a business trip the next night and took a look at the wall and was like "WHAT?" I have hardly slept well since. I asked if they could return again to replace the dark tiles with lighter ones and the contractor said Renee would charge $600 to do that. I made the mistake of paying the full amount for the tile work and now we'd have to pay to have them come back with the risk of them damaging the existing travertine even further. I just wanted to be done with them and the negative energy. I called Hegle Tile to ask for help. Rod Hegle sent out one of his guys the next day who was able to remove the dark tiles carefully without damaging any more tiles, though the ones that were already damaged still remain. I have lost so much sleep over this and have been so stressed out. It has negatively impacted my quality of life while juggling life with two young children and being there for them and their needs. We now have a wall of tile that has chips, scratches, and a warped edge on it and an improper layout. read more

We remodeled a bathroom with all new shower and tile, and RG Tile and Stone did an absolutely beautiful job, and this is coming from someone who notices every possible minute detail. We then decided to redo another bathroom, an even bigger project, but because of a scheduling conflict, we had to go with someone else. What a mistake. When they were almost finished, I had to fire them because of sloppy work and then hire RG Tile and Stone to come and fix all the mistakes they made. What a difference. They knocked it out once again. They were always on time, they always answered the phone or called back in minutes, and they even fielded questions and concerns sometimes after hours and even on weekends. Most importantly, they have true pride in craftsmanship, which seems to be a fading trait these days in all sorts of trades.
