We love this place but it has been closed since end of summer 2024. New owners have had a sign on it that says "opening soon" for two months. No word about when it will actually open. NOTE: REXVILLE ISN'T CLOSED. Not sure why Yelp says it is, I went June 11 and spoke to the owner who was surprised to hear Yelp reports it closed. Rexville makes some mean sandwiches. They source bread from Bread Farm in Edison and make most things in house, even down to roasting their own coffee! And they have a bunch of edible goodies that would be a foodies dream souvenir stop. My favorite sandwich is the meatloaf served warm. I'm really picky with meatloaf, but it's the perfect juicy texture and not dry or too dense at all! This is one of my must stops anytime I'm in Skagit Valley and bet it'll become yours too. read more

We rode our bikes from about 8 miles away at the B&B we were staying at. This is a lovely small town. Very bike friendly by-the-way. We're vegan and were happy to see 3 items on the menu and we had the humus sandwich and it was really good. The girls that were working there that day were super sweet. They even had homemade dog biscuits and we got some for our pups back in Alaska. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Bike stand, gas, deli, coffee stand, fresh fruit and an old time old fashion feel to it. If we're ever in the area again I'll stop in. read more

It doesn't get any better than this! A must visit when you are in the area. After a day of Tulip-peeping, we went to Rexville Grocery for food and supplies to keep us awake on the return voyage. This entailed: Piece of Peanut Butter cake, chocolate/chocolate cake, oyster chowder, and a meatloaf sandwich! The store is a deli-type restaurant/bar/novelty store/everything else. The staff were great and the food and novelties were exactly what I would expect from a hip little small town store. Looking forward to my next trip. . . or franchising!!! read more

Rexville Grocery is a great place to stop for a sandwich as you make your way to Whidbey Island or Anacortes. The shop has lots of gourmet and local grocery items to take back to friends. They also have delicious, made-to-order sandwiches that you can enjoy in a small cafe area or in the neighboring, cute-as-a-button courtyard. Always like to stop by here when I visit LaConner. Great sandwiches. Was glad to see it was still open yesterday when I took a friend for a drive. The cashier had a mask on and was very helpful but the waitress only had a small see through clear plastic contraption that didn't reach her nose and the doors and windows were closed. Spent a few hours here on a nice sunny day! Theres outdoor seating and I made myself comfortable under a lovely fragrant wisteria tree. There were a few beers on tap and also a selection you can buy and drink from the cooler. I ordered the "bloat" sandwich. It was excellent with crispy bacon and avacado. The staff was fun and entertaining and kept my cold beers flowing. It was like one of those places you wanna return to and everybody knows your name! read more

Best breakfast I've had in years! I've been here in the past and enjoyed it..They have new owners now and it's even better. I had the chicken fried steak which was huge and fried perfectly. It came with 2 eggs, hash browns, and biscuits smothered in pork gravy. My buddy had the smoked pork chop and I haf a taste. Best smoked meat I've had in a long time. Chop was from Sylvania meats. This is such a cute store - it looks a little beat up on the outside - but the inside was amazing - clean, comfy - beautiful wood floors. On the side is a shelter with several picnic tables that overlook a little green space filled with chirping birds!! We took advantage of the picnic tables and bought some fresh HOT and I mean HOT coffee from the cafe inside. They make the drip coffee on demand.This is not some cheap gas station 2 hour old blend..this is good stuff and for $1.25 a cup - a steal of a deal.. There is some road noise but on a sunny but chilly afternoon it was perfect rest stop. While heading from Tulip land to La Conner.. My hubby said the store was for sale - I hope it stays the same after its sold. We've put this on a stop over stop next time we head north for a deception pass run!! read more

Gas, caffeine, an immaculate bathroom, and handmade sandwiches to order, and loads of snacks you won't find anywhere else make Rexville a place I'm always happy to see. The focus on local ingredients and community atmosphere make it a pleasure to watch customers come and go. Microbrews, wines, and amazing desserts are all surprisingly sophisticated on a road with tractor crossing signs, but stays practical all the same. The Rexville Grocery is no Oakville Grocery. It's better! We stopped in on a cold Sunday afternoon after visiting Padilla bay wildlife sanctuary and sat right down at the counter. This is a real down home place with good food, friendly employees and no lines out the door. We enjoyed some excellent tomato beef soup, avocado, lettuce and tomato sandwiches on sour dough bread, homemade raspberry pie and I had a great dark draft beer whose name I can't recall although I do remember it packed a punch. Just one thumbs down on the brie sandwich- please hold the mayo next time- that sort of ruined the taste of the nice french brie! Fortunately, I wasn't driving. Hopefully the for sale sign outside is not an indicator of bad things to come in 2010 because I will be sad if it isn't there the next time I pass through. read more

Ok you all know I'm a food snot. After a long insane day before thanksgiving Costco run ( what in the world was I thinking ?) I just could not wrap brain to go any further. 5 hours in Mt Vernon was my limit today. We were heading towards home via detour to the Net for a burger. When we pulled in at 1:45 pm the place was simply packed parking lot full etc. Nope not today so we took the back roads to Stanwood via beaver marsh road and eventually winding around the t intersection. I had had a sandwich there years ago , so we stop in bought a butternut squash and decide to stay for a burger. Had we known it was going to take 15 minutes we most likely would not have stayed. There was no one else in the dinning room area other than a family finishing up. Anyhow we ordered the Wes and another burger . Double patty HUGE burgers . The Wes was fabulous . Hubby said his was very good. But frankly he wanted a smaller burger and would have been happier if it was. Anyway my burger was great and the onion rings were ok. The patties had great texture even though I had ordered mine pretty medium well. The bun was fresh and the lettuce tomatoes very good. The damn bacon could have been on a boot and would have been one of the best bacons I have had. Joshua was sweet when I whispered my pleasure over my burger. I admitted to him I was one of the hardest critics when it came to food and have been known to be brutal . The place is old warn out past its prime but it has its charm. Clerk / waitress was adorable. The price for two huge burgers was under $40 so it a bit pricey. BUT the meat is local and is of great quality. I'd pay for the Wes all day long over Red Robin five guys or any of those places. read more

Ah, the Skagit Valley...as a displaced midwesterner who has called Seattle home for the past 10 years, there is still a place in my heart for beautiful, flat farmlands experienced here - and the Skagit Valley combines the best of the midwest with a Northwest twist, with a lovely view of Mt. Baker often in the background. Almost worth the drive in itself is the Rexville Grocery, a wonderful little store with a deli, espresso (yes, they roast their own!), wine and beer, baked goods, and unique grocery items, many of them local. Incredibly friendly, you just wanna hang here forever. I took a friend from out of town on our way to the Tulip Festival, and she was so enthralled we had to come back on our way home. It's located on a winding road near the Skagit River, look up at one of the tall trees nearby and you might be lucky enough to spot a bald eagle taking a rest. The deli is delicious and vegetarians will flip over the Avocado, Lettuce, and Tomato sandwich. They have a farmer's market in the summer, and lots of fun special events, wine/beer tastings, etc. If you visit in June/July there are infinite numbers of berry stands with delicious fresh raspberries and strawberries along the road leading to the Rex. read more

I used to stop by here on my way to Anacortes pretty regularly. Their sandwiches, often featuring local ingredients are awesome. Several of the beers on tap are local as well. I have enjoyed both and good conversation with the locals. Very friendly people, and the owner has more than once held the place open when I arrived near closing time. The personal touches and good conversations I have always appreciated. I always look for an excuse to stop by when I am anywhere near the area. read more

Back again for their Pints n' Pizza evening - a slice of their "soon-to-be-famous" pizza and a pint of beer for $6. We arrived just as the next pizza was going into the oven, so we were given the option of having a slice of the pepperoni pizza that was ready or giving our preference for a crab pizza, a clam & white sauce, or a veggie option going into the oven next. We chose the crab. The pizza itself was excellent. The crab didn't rate five stars (probably canned?), but there wasn't a lot on it anyway, so it still gets five stars for being such great pizza anyway. Maybe it was because we had recently seen the Norman Rockwell exhibit at the Tacoma Art Museum but as we rounded the turn and saw the Rexville Grocery I thought I had been transported back to the 30's. The outside can't be much different than it was in 1935 when it was built. Even when we entered the store it looked old timey but from then on we were happily into the 21st century with three microbeers on tap, many wines by the glass and an extensive lunch menu. We had the Italian sandwich and turkey and brie sandwich. Both were excellent and on homemade bread. We split the chocolate decadence dessert that also was yummy. There is plenty of indoor seating, but luckily we arrived on one of the few sunny days in May and were able to sit outside on their patio with our dog. The other clientele included businessmen on their lunch break, a mom and her three children who were doing their homework, and a young couple on a motorcycle. All of us were well served by the Rexville Grocery. I noticed a for sale sign. Let's hope whoever buys it can maintain the quirky character and good food and service. That was last year. We went back on 6/20/12. Still there and just as good. The peanut butter pie was wonderful. read more

You can't beat the Rexville Grocery for its combination of ambiance, great weekend breakfasts, home roasted coffee, local art and an eclectic choice of items to choose from in the store. Worst experience EVER with a business. I was told they have taco Tuesday so I really wanted to try them but Tuesday's are busy nights for me. I was happy when I heard they have burger night on Thursday. I went in with a friend around 6pm and when I walked it, the bar was full with all men who looked liked they'd been there all day. The owner eyed us and asked in a way as if we were interrupting something or didn't belong: "can I help you?" My friend answered that we wanted to get some food. One of the men at the bar rudely yelled to the owner to fill up his beer and he turned and got the guy a beer. Then he stayed over chatting and laughing with the men at the bar. We stood there for several minutes (close to 10), expecting he would come back but he didn't- it felt very awkward. I tried to catch the owner's attention and thought about saying something but the men at the bar seemed pretty drunk and one was already starring at me in an uncomfortable way and whispering to his friend while looking at me and smiling. Then we realized he wasn't going to come back and we left. I can conclude from this experience that if you aren't a man and you don't day drink there consistently, the owner wont give a crap about you. Maybe try going here with a man and then you'll get some respect? Going to have to leave that up to someone else to try because I certainly will never be going back. read more

Went by here for the first time for an IPA Challenge of local breweries. Got to taste 6 local breweries and vote on my favorite. Before hand we had a warm up beer in one of their outside areas and everyone was extremely nice. Felt just like hanging out at a friend's house (with beer on tap though). I've been to that cute and quaint spot several times I discovered it while traveling on the back roads to enjoy the festivals in the local area especially tulips.. Their food is good a bit pricey and when busy one must wait, however the weekend of April 19th my friend and I decided to stop there, she's never been. she has a service dog, I don't question others about their dogs or papers and so on. I suspected there be a few issues. the woman that waited on us that Sunday about 1230 pm said no dogs allowed, my friend respond he is a service dog, other server rolled her eyes, and she not only did., when I told her she cannot ask other than is that a service dog or discriminate whether things are truthful or not. my friend is on a diet and we were trying to inquire about salad we saw a nun on the menu, she told us they had packaged salad and pointed to the cooler, I said she's on a diet , and not want a potato salad , we asked about a green salad she said yes we have that we tried to inquire what was in the green salad suggested maybe eggs bacon something she said we don't have eggs she say we have a salad and I said once more what comes with the salad other than a bowl of greens, she proceeded to turn back true her arms up in the air and sad you can have anything you want. I found her to be quite rude, and not accommodating and to the astonishment others within earshot I made sure she heard it that if she could not be more accommodating then we do not want to spend our money and we'll go elsewhere I don't know her name but she's an older small petite woman I think she was more irritated over the fact the day were busy you know first warm hot day people wanting to go up to Mount Vernon but either way i did not appreciate her handling of R situation maybe you won't even be back now that means someone I was going to tell them what a great little spot this was I can't now because she saw how rude and how unaccommodating the staff was thank you read more

My daughter lives in Stanwood and on a drive up to Skajit to see snow geese and swans we stopped at Rexville. I am hooked! The place for breakfast is definitely Rexville grocery. Breakfast only served Sat. and Sunday. Local foods, real lingon berries on the Swedish pancakes, and fresh local oysters for the Hangtown fry. Never seen that on a breakfast menu any were else. Wasn't brave enough to try it but the next table over was oohing over it. I had a tomato benedict, great hollandaise sauce! Coffee is wonderful, roasted right there in the store. I heard it was in Sunset magazine as a great place for breakfast. They were right! Missed breakfast? Try one of their sandwiches made on local Bread farm bread. Ruben was one of the best I've had and meatloaf is house made. Soups are all homemade and very, very good. Rotating local artwork, specialty foods in the grocery, all around a great find, fun stop. Eat, browse, and visit with the great people that stop there. You will be pleasantly surprised. I always find some item I don't need, but can't resist buying. Diabetic so can't eat the wonderful pies they always have there, but I hear they can't be beat. read more

I ate here for the first time this past Sunday (8/9/15) and have to say, I will absolutely be back. We were going to stop at Snow Goose Produce to buy some bread and got hungry on the way. My mother and I were passing by and decided to stop - we had both heard that their was a cafe in the building, but had never tried it. I had my small dog with me, so my mom ran in to check if we could bring him in the outdoor seating area, otherwise we would have to wait for food. They said as long as he was outside, tied to a table, and not causing any problems he was welcome. My dog is very quiet and mellow, so he was just fine. Our waiter was so kind and brought out a much appreciated bowl of water for the dog, while my mom had a salad (that looked delicious and fresh) and I had the peanut butter and bacon sandwich. It sounded interesting, so I had to try it! We both loved our meals and the amazing service. Considering this place is dog friendly on top of being delicious with attentive and kind servers, I truly wish I could give it more than 5 stars. read more
