Food was delicious and very photogenic. This might be my favorite breakfast place in San Pedro.

Lovely place. Many healthy options available. Food is not greasy or loaded with cheeses or sauces. Care is taken in the preparation of every dish, from the toasted bagel to the scrambled eggs with chorizo (not known for being fat free). Even the breakfast potatoes were prepared to perfection: boiled and then roasted. A wonderful selection of fruit. Even the coffee tasted better here... The restaurant was busy and the staff was curteous and friendly. We will definitely come back! read more

This is one of those "diamond in the rough" type of places to eat. The surrounding buildings aren't much to look at, but this quaint cafe is like an oasis in the middle of an area that needs some fixing up. The staff is very friendly, the food is very reasonably priced (and tasty!) and there is a really great variety in the breakfast and lunch menus. I've never seen so many types of omelets offered by one place! So hard to choose! The decor is slightly Mediterranean and has a nice cozy feel to it. Rex's is my favorite breakfast/lunch spot in Pedro. I am a lifelong local and have had my share of sittings at the local "legends" (Pacific Diner, etc). Rex's is miles above the others in everything except perhaps portion size for some dishes (NOT pancakes). Just try it and you will love it! The pictures speak for themselves. read more

Sometimes a long wait but this is best breakfast spot in San Pedro. If you're there for lunch, their tortilla soup is among the best anywhere but they don't always have it on the daily specials. Pancakes are huge and delicious. Lots of egg dishes to choose from with fresh ingredients. Servers have been there for years and treat all their customers like neighbors. read more

The food is pretty good, but the portions leave a lot to be desired and the customer service is probably the worst I've ever experienced at a restaurant. I've called in orders for pick up numerous times, and they are consistently impolite and short on the phone. Many of the times, I called in for work that had multiple orders. I gave them advanced notice that we need to pay separately. They very rudely told me "we won't do that; we're too bust." They would rather give up $80 worth of orders because they would have to swipe four cards instead of one. No place is that busy. The final straw came today when I picked up food five minutes before they were to close. The door was locked, and when I knocked, they refused to open the door. As I casually sauntered away, they opened the door and yelled that I need to come on time. I said you're supposed to be open for five more minutes. The woman proceeded to tell me it doesn't matter what my watch or phone says, and that time is based off of her watch. Like I said, the food is good, but it is also overpriced and nowhere near good enough to deal with the incredibly poor service. I will not be coming back to Rex's again and I'd advise against it until they begin valuing their customers. read more

I am new to hanging out in San Pedro and was introduced to Rex's very recently. The food is terrific, the service is great and I would highly recommend this restaurant. We usually go for breakfast. I like the egg dishes and instead of potatoes I get the steamed veggies which include broccoli cooked al dente which is just the way I like. I also like the multi grain pancake. They do a lovely latte with soy milk. I love this spot for breakfast. I would highly recommend this spot. read more

My husband and I are visiting from Kentucky and were introduced to Rex's by a friend - who just happens to be a vegetarian. Once we found Rex's, we've been back 3 mornings in a row!!! We're staying at the Doubletree Hotel at Cabrillo Marina and this is SO convenient!! We can't say enough good things about this little gem. My hubby loves the Mexican omelet and my favorite has to be the French toast on squaw bread. A tablemate introduced us to the Mexican coffee, but not before we'd ordered the regular variety. We'll try to make our own but there's no doubt it won't be as good. This is a quaint, neighborhood cafe' and always filled up whenever we visited. We give it 5 stars for food quality, excellent - and friendly - service and great value for your dollar. Wish we had a Rex's in Kentucky!!!! Stopped here for breakfast with my girlfriend while we were on vacation, and had to return the following morning again just because it was that good. We were staying nearby at the Doubletree and decided to forego the $16 breakfast at the hotel for something local. So glad we did! Rex's was close by so we stopped in. Parking is a challenge but that is to be expected in this area of town and we found a parking spot within minutes. When we arrived the place was packed. We were greeted immediately by Maria and told it would be a 15 min wait. We grabbed a coffee to which they brought us all of the condiments. 10 minutes later we were seated and had our order. The food came out super fast and was hot and delicious! We would definitely recommend it. None of the issues raised in other reviews were experienced by us. Fast, hot, and delicious. I love this adorable hole in the wall breakfast place, which you would never expect to find at it's slightly shady location (that being said, I do live right down the street, so whatever). I highly recommend the French Connection, or the stuffed french toast - they are both awesome. Lots of other good staples there as well. It is my hangover breakfast dream come true! read more

finally writing a review after several visits. The good-food is delicious and will definitely be back for the food even after a couple service problems. Weekend service is far superior than weekday service. Never had a problem on the weekend, and it's so much more busy. but first time I came on a weekday, I didn't get my espresso until entrees came out. Waiter could have stopped by to inform us she was busy and apologize for not getting espresso to us sooner. When we first ordered out drinks from the busser, we asked if they had a certain drink that was on the special board, and he said yes. When waitress was taking our food order, another waitress came to tell us that the drink we ordered was only available when it's on the specials board. ANYWAY-FOOD IS TOO GOOD TO GRIPE ABOUT SERVICE. read more

This place is adorable! Wonderful muffins... today it was blueberry almond and lemon sesame. Order them as soon as you can, because they often sell out before the day is done. The omelets are very hearty, chock full of fresh veggies. They don't skimp on the expensive stuff either (mmm portebello mushrooms and avocado!!). As a brunch lover, I was also appreciative of the fact that they had a "hot cereal" section on their menu, and their fruit bowls were indeed BOWLS of fruit. There can b a wait to b patient, bc it's a small cozy eclectic spot... also b aware that parking can b confusing and interesting... they share a small lot w the liquor store across the street...but it's worth driving around to find one if those spots r full. Great customer service, fun and delicious menu, really fair prices, BIG PORTIONS and ADORABLE ATMOSPHERE!! This place is fantastic. In my quest to find a new awesome place for lunch, I stumbled upon this little restaurant on a sunny, breezy day. The moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by one of the waiters, where he immediately directed me to sit anywhere. I chose the outdoor patio. Literally, 10 seconds later, the waiter handed me a menu. I was a little hungry arriving there, but after reading the vast array of delectable array of food, I chose the BLT turkey sandwich and a side salad.The waitress was friendly and took my order. Literally 1-2 minutes later, she came back with a huge helping of salad, which looked more like a main course than a "side salad". It tasted pretty good. Bright green romaine lettuce, fresh tomatoe, and suprisingly a toasted bagle on the side, which I didn't expect. Three minutes later, she arrived with my BLT sandwich. I'm telling you, this dine-in restaurant served their food faster than same of the fast food places that i've been to. The BLT sandwich was also delicious, which baffled me on how fast they cooked it and brought it to my table. The waitress checked on me twice after that. She offered a box and brought the check without me asking her to, and the price of the huge portions of food was pleasantly reasonable. The bathroom was pleasant looking with old-fashioned painting and furniture, and as I walked out of the restaurant, the friendly waiter and waitress said thank you. A definitely good experience in this restaurant. This is definitely not my first and only visit to this place. read more

Came in early Monday morning (7) and no one there. But yelpers had convinced me it was worth a visit and when I remarked about the emptiness, the staff assured me, "by lunch time it's packed". Ordered Eggs Benny and fruit. The eggs poached perfectly soft as I asked and a turkey or chicken sausage, no hollandaise, but covered in cheese. Tasty. Fresh squeezed OJ and fruit that seemed just cut (except the pineapple?), including kiwi? NICE. read more
