I have passed by this restaurant on many an occasion. I decided to eat here for breakfast, to try out something new. It's larger inside than it appears from the street. There are two separate dining areas, separated by a wall. When I walked inside, I was told I could sit anywhere I liked. There are even a couple small tables for two outside on the patio. It's cozy. Yellow walls. I ordered a latte to begin with and a breakfast sandwich with a side of fruit. I had a cute little sun drawn with chocolate in my latte. The latte was large and hot for a long time. The breakfast wrap is a green herbal tortilla. Healthy tasting and very filling. They asked if I wanted any salsa or ketchup. I should have opted for the salsa. The fruit consisted of bananas, strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, and honey dew melon. Fresh. Staff: The staff are both friendly and efficient. They have a sign at the counter that states that they can refuse service at any time. Restroom: Only one in the back. A little funky. Parking: Plenty of free, street parking.

I have not been to San Pedro since the 1970's so on this trip we decided to try something different. So we found this place. Let me start of with parking. If you're lucky there is free street parking. If not there is a paid lot right around the corner. Best would be public transportation because there are multiple stops on the same street. Also going early may not get you a table because this place has limited seats. To me it's well with the wait. And that some items on the menu would run out fast as others dine. To be seated you have to check in when you walk through the door. We chose outside seating, be aware that that out side spot is limited in space. We have 5 ppl in our party and it was tight with one chair left over. We had so many drinks from lemonade to Mexican cocoa, to include a Mexican coffee. It was all good because no one complained. The wait staff did take a few more minutes because the place was full. For the food we all had different types of choices from Omelets, stuffed French Toast, chicken noodle soup, hash browns with shredded potatoes to regular hash browns with potatoes. Everything was delicious!!! Again if you dine understand that this place isn't that big so sometimes your orders may be delayed. To add sitting out side up from you will be exposed to all things so be aware.....So if you're ever in the San Pedro area try it you may just like it. Remember outside seats may bring flying insects!!!!

Beautiful !!

A friend invited me to this place and told me it was a gem in San Pedro and he was right! I loved it; the waitress was super friendly. I ordered an iced coffee very tasty and the French toast with fruit on top, which was delicious. The place itself is beautiful, full of colors and lot of flowers; I loved it.

Cozy spot with a vintage feel and very friendly staff. They had a large selection of food that did not disappoint - sweet, savory, and Mexican + American classics. Big enough portions to share and then some! Will have to come back to SP just for this spot

Very good local breakfast spot in San Pedro. We stopped by this morning and were seated right away, then ordered a Mexican coffee, a Mexican hot chocolate, a caramel latte, and teas. All were delicious!! For our food, I opted for steel cut oatmeal and the others got French toast, pancakes with fresh berries, and Huevos Rexeros. Food was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Service was good. There was plenty of free street parking. Bill was a little over $80 (after tax and credit card service fee). Happy to return.

Yummy Tuna Melt! Cheesy tuna goodness is great!

We were in the San Pedro area and it has been awhile since we had been to Rex's. Fond memories drew us back today for brunch take out. We reviewed the menu and ultimately chose a couple of car friendly options. We settled on the Breakfast Burrito and the Tuna Melt. The breakfast burrito was yummy and easy to handle. It was stuffed with generous amounts of bacon, hash browns, scrambled eggs, cheese, and accompanied by a side of refried beans. The salsa added a mild punch to every bite. So satisfying! The tuna melt was also tasty with a tangy tuna salad with melty cheddar cheese all nestled between two toasted slices of bread. This really hit the spot. We enjoyed our quick stop at Rex's Cafe and hope to stop by in the future when we can linger on site! Great choice though for a meal on the run today. Yay!

Amazing place for breakfast! Recommended from the hotel front desk at doubletree it was a short walk to Rex's cafe. The staff was amazing - super accommodating with our baby - friendly and fast service. The food was really good. I highly recommend getting the breakfast burrito!

The food is phenomenal! This place is definitely a hole in the wall! The service is great. The staff is very energetic and friendly. If you are in San Pedro this place is a must try. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and amount of food you get. 10/10 will come back again

They also have 4 TVs, which makes this a pretty good spot for game days. BUT NOT GONNA LIE... it was HOT in here. There's no air conditioning or fans, and the air was just sitting there. Is still air a thing? Because they had it LOL. Also, beware of the flies! They were flying all over the place, which was definitely not something I enjoyed while trying to eat. We got our food, and by that point, we were ALL already out of water. We asked for more, but it took a while to get it. My boyfriend and his brother had already finished their food, and their water still hadn't come. The plates are also HUGE for no reason. Like, why are we serving food on plates this big? Now, onto the food because this is where they redeemed themselves! I got the potato cakes, and they were DELICIOUS. They were basically like mashed potatoes, and I loved them. The sausage was soooo juicy, and the biscuits were fresh. Overall, all the food was delicious, and everyone enjoyed their meals. Honestly, the food was great, but the heat, flies, and waiting for water definitely made the experience less enjoyable. I would come back for the food, but hopefully next time the air is moving and the water comes a little faster!

I first stopped here a while back (March) before heading over to the USS Iowa in Long Beach, and it was the perfect little day-date stop. A few weeks ago, I landed at Long Beach Airport and made my way back to San Pedro before heading home for round two! I'm honestly bummed I never reviewed this place after my first visit because that sandwich was AMAZING. Loaded with all the fixings and exactly what I was craving. Unfortunately, this time around I switched things up and ordered a breakfast burrito, and it just wasn't a hit for me. You win some, you lose some! That said, I still love the mom-and-pop feel of this place and the fact that it's been around for a while. A little neighborhood gem in San Pedro, not too far from the airport. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area and craving a good sandwich!

She let me stay past closing so I could finish my iced tea and do some more work on my laptop. 5 stars for food It was a perfect Denver omelette, well cooked with plenty of cheese and peppers and Ham and onions nicely diced. The breakfast potatoes were thinly sliced and nice and crispy, which surprisingly is hard to find in a diner. The iced tea was strong and plentiful. I realize that diner fare is not typically considered five-star cuisine, but for what they do, they did excellently. A perfect lunch experience. No notes. I think I may have just found my new favorite coffee shop!…read more I usually go to Starbucks 2-3 times a day, but after hearing the recent claims about plastic in their coffee, I figured it was time to explore other options. The only problem is that I've given up coffee and switched to matcha, and I'm not exactly a fan of that earthy taste matcha tends to have. I explained all of this to the staff at Colossus, and they went above and beyond! They created a healthier matcha drink for me that was absolutely DELICIOUS, with none of that earthy taste I usually dislike! What impressed me even more was the customer service. The place was JAM-PACKED, yet the sweet girl helping me (I wish I remembered her name!) still took her time to listen, offer thoughtful suggestions, and make sure I got something I would genuinely enjoy.
