I really wanted to gate keep this salon but it is too good not to share!!! From the moment I walked in I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that has such a calming vibe it's the perfect escape for some self-care. The service was exceptional! Let's start by stating this: I AM HIGHLY PICKY about who does my nails. I gate keep a lot, but I have to rave about Rex Nail Salon for sure! I found Rex's when I stopped by next door for some flowers. A couple of days later I called to make an appointment. When I arrived I was greeted and asked to pick a color, nothing new right? Wrong! I use to be excited to come here during my lunch break if I needed my feet done prior to be driving an hour back home when I got off. However this particular day I felt like I was being punked. Initially when I came in I didn't have an appointment I usually never do when I pop up on lunch. I got there at about 1235 So I explain the the young lady who asked me if I had an appointment I said no but I would like a pedicure so she spoke in her language to an older lady who took her time coming out to help me about 10 minutes while I sat in the spa chair waiting. When she came I said hello I would like a pedicure but I have to be back at work by 130p she spoke in her language to the workers started my water left for another 5 minutes. Nothing was added to the water. When she came back she started but in between doing my feet she was using her phone which she stopped about 3 times. Then the young lady who was doing someone else's nails daughter came in the woman doing my feet said it was her grand daughter she stopped doing my feet and attended to the baby who was about 1 or 2 and then proceeded to do my feet again. About 1p she was just getting to my cuticles moving very slowly. When 120p came around she barely finished cleaning my feet with the pomace I asked her if it was ok for me to come back when I got off at 515p to have my feet painted she said yes sure she would be here so I paid $52. There was no massage done no lotion no nothing at that point except the cleaning and trimming Here's where the foolishness begins. I came back to have my feet finished when I got off work. The young lady was still there she was doing another customers manicure another lady and a gentleman who was doing the customers pedicure so she asked me to sit in the chair she told the lady who was helping me I was getting a French tip design. So I showed the lady who sat down to help me what design I wanted she said oh no I can't do it spoke her language to the young lady. The young lady said oh no you are not getting that design you are getting regular French tip I said I'm sorry this is the design I want I already paid but I didn't get to tell the older lady what kind of design I actually wanted she said well you are not getting that design because the lady can't do it the other lady didn't say you were getting that. I asked is there someone else who can do this design it's just a small white line that's painted the gentleman had just finished and the young lady ignored me I asked again is there someone else that can do the design for me I've already paid and I'm having a hard time understanding why I can't get the design I want other than this lady not being able to do it I'll pay where else needs to be paid I did just pay $52 she said you did not tell the other lady you wanted that design. You had acrylic on your feet you can't get that design. (The acrylic was to make my toes nail even which had grown all the way out and the older lady took it all off already) I said you don't need acrylic to paint this design on. This place is actually the first place I ever had it done you did a while ago and without acrylic she said I'm busy I'm not doing it and few minutes later she got up from completing the customers manicure she still ignored me spoke in her language again left with her 14 year old son and walked out. So basically I came here spent my hard earned money to be completely disrespected and told what I was going to get and this isn't what I wanted. I will never patron this establishment ever again the young lady was very rude about my services. I stayed calm the entire time not raising my voice or causing a scene because I see on the internet how people of color are treated and locked inside salons. I didn't that kind of interaction. I have lived in the area for 5 years and been looking for a nail person in the area since unfortunately I always got let down. I found someone near my job in Livermore but I now got the opportunity to work closer to home I was devastated to leave my person behind and have to start all over again the search of a nail person who I wasn't just a number too. I called in on a Wednesday morning asking if they took walk ins and if they also offered Apple Pay, they did and I went right in. I didn't have much expectations but Katie took care of me and was caring and pleasant. Now I know why this place hasn't had any recent reviews uploaded. Came in for dip manicure and gel pedicure. The place could be a bit more cleaner and nail technician I was scheduled with for my dip manicure was pretty rough. As she was using the drill to file my nails she lost grip of the machine and it ran across the side of my finger but I didn't complain about it as it could happen on accident. The dip color I picked was an olive green and should've been full coverage but I can still see my actual nail color, have plenty of lumps on each nail and can't forget the crooked nails to complete the look. My pedicure wasn't the worst but I would appreciate it if they would remove all the paraffin wax completely versus having to take it off myself. The plus is that my crooked nails matched my crooked toe nails too. Tried to give the place a chance but wasn't for me. For any future clients they charge $2 extra for using card payments which is kind of ridiculous in my opinion. read more

I went to Rex Nails salon for my pedicure. I wanted a deluxe pedicure to relax after my long day at work. The girl who works there, I do not know her name. She has long hair and she did my pedicure. She was in such a hurry to finish my pedicure while I had paid for a deluxe pedicure costing $55. I had been to so many nails salons in the past for my pedicure, but this is my first time I had witness anyone not trimming my toe nails 1st. She scrubbed my heal first. She painted my toe nails quickly that the results were so bad due to nail polish was missed on both corners. I won't come back here again. When have you ever been told In so many words that someone doesn't want your business? Well, this was the first time in "my" life! Back story: Warning this may take a minute to read. I was referred to the owner "Tracy" for my nails. I went to check the place out with a pedi a week prior. Unfortunately, I was the only customer there that day at 4 pm. BUT, a worker did come in towards the end of my appointment. She sat down at one of the nail tables and started talking about something (of course I didn't know what she was saying) she seemed a little irritated and the other 2 coworkers seemed concerned as they stood next to her. My service is complete (fine). Although I did get to see anyone doing nails I called days later and booked the nail appt. The day of I called to see if Tracy was available to take me an hour earlier (yes). Well, Tracy ended up being the lady that seemed up a week ago (hold that thought). I'm getting a new set on natural nails, haven't had artificial nails in over 20+ yrs. I showed her pictures of what I wanted natural looking "NOT PINK", as thin as possible, with a slight curve, and short. Red Flag #1- She tells me I'm picky. I told her I know what I want. Red Flag #2- When looking at one of the pictures, she tells me I don't want that it cost $100 (what does that mean?) I let it go. Red Flag #3- (and I don't know why I'm still sitting there) She tells me I'm making her nervous, and to trust her she has been doing nails a long time. (Ok) Red Flag #4- She applied the tips I told her too long, she said it will be done we'll make them shorted later (OK) Red Flag #5- (as I'm trying this, I can't be mad at her IT'S MY FAULT for staying). She starts mixing the pink powered with white powder (PINK) I said remember I DON'T want pink. She said it won't be pink. Well, fast forward (finally ) she's done and they are PINK & Too long & there is a BLACK LINE going across one nail. I asked what is this black line? She said I don't see a black line (I took a picture, and blew it up so she could see it). She said the only way for someone to see it is for you to take a picture! OMG, I said you said you didn't see it so now you can and I need that black line done. I was PISSED! She said I will have to take the nail off. I handed her my hand. She starts talking to so workers (in English) I have to do give my dad medication, and now I going to me be late (remember I came in an hour early). She tells me since she can't please me maybe I should try a different place. I ask are you telling me not to come back? She said yes or you can try one of the other ladies. I replied with no thank you, I wouldn't patronize a place I'm not wanted. A few minutes later her next client came in What happened to your dad's medication?? I pay for my service GUESS WHAT? She asked if I wanted to give her a tip if not press the green button... GREEN BUTTON. She walked away. I went to Chloe Nails Lounge a week later and got exactly what I asked for. read more

But, the last couple of visits the nail tech work started tapering off and she began leaving nail polish on my fingers and was not paint my nail entirely. Really wanted to make this place my new place. But I don't think they know how to do stuff too well. I went in for a full set with 2 of my old nails still on, thumb and pinky. The thumb came off easily but I specifically told her the pinky was pretty stuck on there. She should've tried soaking it off (even if she would've charged me). She instead pried it off with about a quarter of my nail. I was telling her it hurt and she kept going. My nail was bleeding. She started filing them and I had to ask her if she was even going to disinfect it...????? She did, but I told her maybe I should wait because there's no way you can put a tip on it. I had a random urge to get my nails done same day and I haven't done so in years. Well I call this place and they say to come in and that I would like a manicure. When I got there I picked my color and sat down. I changed my mind and I asked for acrylics instead of a simple manicure and the lady seemed really agitated about that and told me that I should have booked a full set. I understand that it takes longer but any other business would be happy that I wanted something more expensive. I felt she was rushing and didn't do the best job and did not care since I was a new customer. Finally got myself out and had been meaning to come here since they opened. I'm very glad I did. I love going to establishments when there brand new. You get all the good stuff and amazing service and pricing. What I continue to watch for after the initial new wears off is of quality, pricing and service stays like that and I'm very pleased to say it has. She was disrespectful to my sister and i said maybe i will keep giving her a chance. Last chance, we tip extremely well because that's who we are and that still does not help her customer service skills. I took my brother for his first pedicure and after he enjoyed the employee there with short hair service and left, they owner did my pedicure, she was super slow dropping everything on the floor and she did a horrible job.
