It was very convenient, as some other places didn't allow such last minute orders! The cake was delicious, everyone enjoyed it! It was light, not too sweet and had a generous coating of mango. Would absolutely get it again! I also got a sugar cream bun which was also a delight, though I had expected it to have cream inside, but that was probably my own misunderstanding.

The Mango pudding was worse - it was tasteless with sour strawberries on top. You could not taste mangoes in the pudding; it tasted watery. Also, they should put mangoes on top of the mango pudding instead of strawberries. This is not a strawberry pudding. Regarding the service, the server asked me if I wanted to put the two items together in a small box. She should give me a bigger box instead because the two items did not fit inside the small box. Therefore, the cream of the cake slice mashed into the box and the cake slice was ruined. Then she told the cashier 'with tax.' It was odd for her to say that because everyone knows that there was tax for the products. Usually, the server would give the purchases to the cashier and the cashier would give the purchases to customers on the cashier counter. But the server told us to go to the fridge counter and she gave us the small box there and said, "There was no handle on the box so be careful when you carry it." She should not make customers walk over to her (it was more difficult to take the purchases over the fridge counter), and she did not need to say that because we could see that there was no handle on the box. Usually, the staff would say 'thank you' when they handed the purchases to customers. She was trying to make us look stupid. Moreover, the cashier just put down the receipt on the counter instead of handing it to us and without saying 'thank you.' Their quality of products and service used to be okay, and they had more selection as well in the past. Who would go to this bakery now besides their friends and relatives?

I went there on a Tuesday morning around 10 am and I bought a pack of shortbread cookies. I took it to the car and my husband tried one right away and found the supposedly crisp cookies were quite soft. He said these were not freshly baked. So I went right back to the bakery and told them what my husband said. The manager agreed to give me back the refund and the serving clerk told me the fresh cookies will be ready in late afternoon and the one I bought was baked over the weekend. I believe it is important for the bakery to separate the daily baked fresh products from the rest.

Service was friendly and cordial, and the bakery products nicely-displayed and reasonably priced. I couldn't rate this place highly enough when it was downtown, but when it disappeared and reopened on Broadway it was still really good, with some blemishes (sometimes slightly inconsistent cake/ butter cream/ wafer ratios, and typical rising costs) but last year marked the 2nd and probably last time my birthday cake was a disappointment (it also happened 2 years earlier when they gave me an alcohol filled diplomat instead of the religious I ordered) and then last year when it was the correct cake, Religious, but there was basically no cake. Mostly butter cream, and some wafer layers. So this year my wife got me a Religious cake from elsewhere, and the balance of cake /wafer /butter cream is better... But I miss that unique Bon Ton buttercream flavour. The buttercream is still the best here, but the decreasing quality control and increasing price (they asked us if we wanted cheese sticks to go with the cake last year and rang 2 bags up without telling us they were almost $20 each and frankly mediocre, not up to their usual standards. Still the best tasting buttercream, but this place was always 5 stars on Granville and at least 4 stars when it was on Broadway.
